The name "Opposing Force" sounds like it would have, limitless potential if a similar title were used in a game where Adrian actually did something. I just came up with a story idea however since I just came up with it it has very little detail The G man talks to Adrian like how the G man talked to Gordon at the beginning of HL2. After about a minute of the G man telling Adrian his new reason for being on earth, Adrian could find himself on a combine dropship dressed as a metrocop. The dropship would then land near a resistance base (Black Mesa East) What could be cool is if Adrian found a Black Mesa East storage area he would have to pass through to keep going through the facility. He could go in it and find an old U.S. Military uniform. And put it on. Adrian would soon find out that he was killing the wrong people and immediately turn on the metrocops and saving as many people from Black Mesa East as possible. Maybe using Gordons airboat from HL2. Among the people he saved there could be a few scientists who would play an important role in a future attack against the combine. Okay there's my idea for an opposing force 2 game however I already don't like the possibility of Adrian not realizing he has to turn on the metrocops and killing everyone, including the scientists who could be useful in a future attack on the combine.
It's a classic. Kind of wished someone made a mod that replaces the dialogue with unused+vanilla dialogue, since I can see some lines I the original working for Awakening.
I've been looking into Opposing Force 2 since maybe around 2012, it's the sequel we all wanted but never happened.... Yet. 1 - I played Awakening a couple years back, before HL VR was being leaked, it didn't offer much but it was a nice mod. I loved the snow atmosphere. I even managed to make one npc follow me to the portal and teleported with me somehow to the next map. (An npc I spawned) 2 - It was a shame that the team abandoned Opposing Force 2, it had LOTS of potentiol. I'm lucky to still have the original 3 maps. 3 - Lost was like a final hope to play what was "Lost" with the original Opposing Force 2. I didn't like how it was buggy and almost broken, they even didn't really add any alien npcs other than the houdeye. 4 - Now I haven't heard of "Urban Chaos", this is my first time. Glade to know a 3rd team is still willing to finish what could have been a great sequel. Looking forward for what they are cooking to the future. 5 - Evasion was a nice one as well. I no longer remember the levels but I was certainly happy to play a sequel in goldsrc. 6 - When I first heard of Prospekt I thought it was an official title. To make things short, I watched it with exitement, didn't like it and still don't. 7 - Barely played any "map labs" maps, so I'm oblivious to this one's existence. The weapons models are cool, I liked them. 8 - It's a real shame that Valve didn't even bother to watch what "Arkane Studio" made for Ep4 and decided to cancel it regardless. This was gonna be a good one and we all know it. Too bad the petition didn't do a thing. It might not have much in it's demo, but the shown content is on the mod page is promising. They even managed to get 2 OFFICIAL VA FROM HALF-LIFE to make both Kleiner and Colette! What else is best we can ask for? My only wish is for the mod team to make the new weapons standard ones and not models replacements for HL2's, other than that I have no critique. I had fun using the eagle and more happy with all the ammo around. This is a mod I am hoping it can one day reach the "Entropy Zero 2" level from detail to attention. Good to know there are 2 attempts to this day on making an Opposing Force sequel. Just like the community's attempt to make 2 different versions of Blue Shift Remakes, and Mark Laidlaw's Epistle 3, or at least one of them is making based on Epistle 3 (giving that the team behind "Boreal Alyph" has decide to cancel development and another stood up to make their version of Episode 3). Which reminds me, I heard nothing of "Project Borealis" in years. Lots of good mods were cancelled throughout 2 decades, making showed amazing promises, others have been released with quality beyond expectations and others are still in the work to this very day. I wish the best for all teams. One day this community gonna make a True Half-Life 3 and I know it, regardless if Valve end up making one or not. The community HAVE the power to do so. WE can make our own dream with our very own hands.

Prospket had a awkward development after the game got the price low to 5$, They had a lot ideas and concepts that didn't make it into the game such as new character's, weapons, enemy's, a whole new storyline and more to come unfortunately the Lead Developer Rich has been dealing with personal life issue having family and such and from there on the development went down, leaving a whole team behind not knowing what to do with the project, they said the would like to work on the game the main issue is that nobody has got answer from Rich. Which sucks tbh, the mod had a lot under the hood if you look very deep into history
Partially true. However I think its important to clear up some facts here, firstly, I was the one doing the chasing of other people I invited onto the team. It was constant it even slowed my work down having to constantly chase. Yes i did have alot of family issues I wont go into here because it's not the place. I also became extremely sick post launch and nearly died obviously I recovered. Post launch I listened to feedback and started working on a plan to improve the game but peoples anger and review bombing killed the sales and I couldnt afford to continue spending money on Prospekt. I was losing money every month trying to keep development going. Dispite this i managed to still get together 6 or so more levels that I pushed to the game. I wanted to go further but I just couldnt afford it. Also noclick... I take massive issue with calling my game a cash grab. I had to raise $40,000 to get prospekt onto the store. So i started this project at a $40k personal loss. I then worked my ass off to finish the game. Then a small vocal minority trashed me as hard as they could which immediately killed the games launch momentum. Those same people then go on to be super pissed at me for not adding everything they want when if people would have actually been supportive and helped the game grow I could have added more and more and supported the game indefinately. I would also like to put the fact out there that I kept reinvesting the money I made from prospekt back into prospekts development for as long as possible until it was impossible to do so. So yeah, that's just a striaght up lie and it needs to end. I have also stated that I would happily ramp up development again if we can get the game growing again and I would also love to bring it over to Source 2 and continue working on it on S2 but that is so far very hard to organise. I could go on but I'll leave it here. Anyway, love all you Half-Life fans.
If HDTF managed to get people on board now with the new updates I'm sure that a bit of PR can get some hype up for Prospekt too, hell, I liked the game, got a few hours out of it.

Because it's hard to make a complete game, not to mention that people early on didn’t expect to wait this long. Black Mesa took 15 years to get fully finished, and that’s with devs who fully committed.
"Through the City" and "Urban Chaos" are the mods with which I see potential to be a sequel to Opposing Force, but my vote goes to "Through the City" as it made me feel like driving with another protagonist in the desolate world of Half-Life 2, just like we did with Gordon in that game. What I like the most is that they even took the importance of creating his HECU soldier model, the classic favorite outfit. About "Prospekt", the only thing I saw the good things are the scenarios that improve the dark atmosphere and above all the textures and mapping of the Combine technology stages, which was the most elegant thing I saw in that mod, but yes, there are many things that I did not like as recycling the models of Gordon's hands of HL2 and make them darker as an attempt for players who can do not realize it, the repetitive gunfights and the story wasn't that interesting and wasn't that developed, as at the beginning the vorts say we must to help Gordon Freeman in his raid in Nova Prospekt but we don't do any of that, we just wander all over the place, shooting, teleporting and shooting, without any specific reason of what we are doing and why we are doing. Not interesting.
Also, remember the mod Prospekt? I played that one, through and through too, and thought that was a good sequel for Opposing Force seeing as how that was a good perspective at how Adrian might have thought of Nova Prospekt. More nostalgia. 😆😎👌
I'm glad to see that you were honest in reviewing this "mod" called Prospekt. You needed to say many more things and there was an attempt at collaboration by a person (who knew a lot about mod development) who wanted to collaborate with this developer called Rich, to make it look really cool. But due to Rich's stubbornness, ego and arrogance for not wanting to collaborate, he preferred to do it on his own and in the end this was the result. A poor game full of corridors, with groups of enemies to kill. Without forgetting that there were many elevators and people complained about them a lot. 0 innovation for elements like you mention about the wrench. He didn't even bother to listen to what the community asked him regarding that. He didn't make a HECU uniform for Adrian Shephard. In its place he put the same Gordon Freeman suit, only dyed black. It promised new content like Black Forest and even a zombie horde survival mode. But due to delays and the fact that some members of his team ended up abandoning the project, it was canceled and nothing more was known. Because of that, Rich didn't even make an effort to come forward to apologize. And his silence was the last straw. He abandoned the mod forever and decided to continue with his other games, some of which have not even finished after being in early access for several years. After this, a few months later he made a news story in which he said that he would falsely work on transferring the game to the Unreal Engine 4 and that he would also falsely promise to expand it with new content. He lowered the price, because hardly anyone bought it and from then on there was no more news. Once again abandoned forever. Not a single apology. Most of the positive reviews there are of that mod are from people who have no idea. They have barely played mods in their life and they act smart saying that the mod is the best they have ever played. That it's fun to just kill enemies, that it's a sequel to Opposing Force (when it's nothing like a sequel), that they don't understand the negative reviews that people like me have given it. The developer has always been a little boy with a very big ego. If you told him the truth that his mod was bad for certain things, he would end up kicking you out of his Discord channel out of pride. Anyway, a very sad story of how a mod could have been so great if the developer had collaborate.
After seeing that thumbnail for Shepherd without a mask or helmet, I never would've thought that he was blonde. Good luck to both dev teams behind Urban Chaos and Through the City, they're gonna need it.
I will never understand the dislike of Prospekt. I liked the concept and the storyline of 'help distract the Combine while Freeman is a menace' culminating in you preventing a Combine invasion from an orbiting ship/station. I enjoyed it even if it was flawed.
The funniest thing about Prospekt is that the dev used it during an interview with Valve. I mean.... imagine using THAT and thinking its going to get you hired.
I think if the team that made Entropy Zero (especially part 2) help on Through the City It would be THE Opposing Force 2 we needed. As long as there isn't bad blood between any of the devs.
I feel like Through The City and Urban Chaos are about to become the new Entropy Zero 2 where everyone concludes it as canon to the story of Half Life.
I grabbed Prospekt for like 2 bucks, installed some weapons models and animations mods to make it look more modern and actually had some fun with it due to the fact Combine AI was kinda more tactical and challanging? Not sure if author altered their behaviour or simply they better utilised the map layout. But yeah I still don't imagine paying full price for it.
Urban Chaos and Trough the city look so good... i hope they release it somewhere in 2024, it would be better than any that we have gotten in the last few years

Alot of fan projects and whatnot usually goes silent completely or cancelled. Atleast Opposing Force still gets love from time to time, even a full remake, but the others... Things originating in GoldSrc in general seems cursed.
1:40 Chargers?? When Overcharged mod devs added the Charger into the mod they said it is a new enemy they worked on from the scratch. Now i know they were lying since they most likely ported it from this mod withour credits/permision
7:35, just a little correction here, it wasn’t cancelled because valve wasn’t happy, it was cancelled because valve essentially stopped all half life development due to them wanting to go in a different direction. Shame how dirty they did half life.
People are making sequels to see What is the Next Big adventure for Adrian. But if Valve makes a Half-Life 3, We would hope that Adrian Will come back and Gearbox's Games Becoming Canon, Also seeing the Canon that is Barney from HL2 is the one We played in Blue-Shift. We may never Know. Plus, 'Through the City' Mod feels like It's Canon to the Half-Life story. It can be "How Adrian Will return in Half-Life 3". We can wait and see.

Want to know why Opposing Force 2 Lost was abandoned ? The dev, a transgender Russian M-to-F with intense self-depreciating issues. was also responsible for Der Schwarze Nebel, a bizarre attempt to do a HL2 Beta Mod. The first work on Op For 2 Lost was praised, to say the least. At last we could play Urban Chaos, see the Citadel in the sky, face proto-Combine. Then all fell down when they decided to import Crysis model weapons, do some cutscenes and stuff like that. Some people criticized harshly, and the dev quickly put down his mod and was never heard again.
From what i saw of Return to Ravenholm, valve just got bored. I say this because you can tell they ripped a lot of ideas from thia to make left4dead. The shove mechanic, special zombie animations and their speed, and some of the sound effects were all repurposed in some fashion in L4D
The lead developer of TTC kicked my friend who was a coder for the team because he requested 2 attachments to be added into a viewmodel that was outdated anyways, but since it was done just wrong, my friend decided to do it himself and later got kicked from the team. The TTC source code is literally this entire time public for anyone to see and the models in TTC ain't optimized at all, I don't know how people did not notice the glaring issues with the models at all. Also where's HDTF?
Half life 2 episode 4 thing in the demo gameplay it looked fun to play ,but doesnt fit to be half life . Its like half life mixed with left for dead. Zombies without headcrabs ? Mostly setting traps for zombies ? Zombie looking like mini tank mixed with hunter or different from left for dead ? Where is the half life in this ? About "Prospekt", the only thing I saw the good things are the scenarios that improve the dark atmosphere and above all the textures and mapping of the Combine technology stages, which was the most elegant thing I saw in that mod, but yes, there are many things that I did not like as recycling the models of Gordon's hands of HL2 and make them darker as an attempt for players who can do not realize it, the repetitive gunfights and the story wasn't that interesting and wasn't that developed, as at the beginning the vorts say we must to help Gordon Freeman in his raid in Nova Prospekt but we don't do any of that, we just wander all over the place, shooting, teleporting and shooting, without any specific reason of what we are doing and why we are doing. Not interesting.
Also, remember the mod Prospekt? I played that one, through and through too, and thought that was a good sequel for Opposing Force seeing as how that was a good perspective at how Adrian might have thought of Nova Prospekt. More nostalgia. 😆😎👌
I'm glad to see that you were honest in reviewing this "mod" called Prospekt.
You needed to say many more things and there was an attempt at collaboration by a person (who knew a lot about mod development) who wanted to collaborate with this developer called Rich, to make it look really cool.
But due to Rich's stubbornness, ego and arrogance for not wanting to collaborate, he preferred to do it on his own and in the end this was the result. A poor game full of corridors, with groups of enemies to kill. Without forgetting that there were many elevators and people complained about them a lot. 0 innovation for elements like you mention about the wrench. He didn't even bother to listen to what the community asked him regarding that. He didn't make a HECU uniform for Adrian Shephard. In its place he put the same Gordon Freeman suit, only dyed black.
It promised new content like Black Forest and even a zombie horde survival mode. But due to delays and the fact that some members of his team ended up abandoning the project, it was canceled and nothing more was known. Because of that, Rich didn't even make an effort to come forward to apologize. And his silence was the last straw. He abandoned the mod forever and decided to continue with his other games, some of which have not even finished after being in early access for several years.
After this, a few months later he made a news story in which he said that he would falsely work on transferring the game to the Unreal Engine 4 and that he would also falsely promise to expand it with new content.
He lowered the price, because hardly anyone bought it and from then on there was no more news. Once again abandoned forever. Not a single apology.
Most of the positive reviews there are of that mod are from people who have no idea. They have barely played mods in their life and they act smart saying that the mod is the best they have ever played. That it's fun to just kill enemies, that it's a sequel to Opposing Force (when it's nothing like a sequel), that they don't understand the negative reviews that people like me have given it.
The developer has always been a little boy with a very big ego. If you told him the truth that his mod was bad for certain things, he would end up kicking you out of his Discord channel out of pride.
Anyway, a very sad story of how a mod could have been so great if the developer had collaborate.
After seeing that thumbnail for Shepherd without a mask or helmet, I never would've thought that he was blonde.
Good luck to both dev teams behind Urban Chaos and Through the City, they're gonna need it.

I will never understand the dislike of Prospekt. I liked the concept and the storyline of 'help distract the Combine while Freeman is a menace' culminating in you preventing a Combine invasion from an orbiting ship/station. I enjoyed it even if it was flawed.
The funniest thing about Prospekt is that the dev used it during an interview with Valve. I mean.... imagine using THAT and thinking its going to get you hired.

I feel like Through The City and Urban Chaos are about to become the new Entropy Zero 2 where everyone concludes it as canon to the story of Half Life.
I grabbed Prospekt for like 2 bucks, installed some weapons models and animations mods to make it look more modern and actually had some fun with it due to the fact Combine AI was kinda more tactical and challanging? Not sure if author altered their behaviour or simply they better utilised the map layout. But yeah I still don't imagine paying full price for it.
Urban Chaos and Trough the city look so good... i hope they release it somewhere in 2024, it would be better than any that we have gotten in the last few years

7:35, just a little correction here, it wasn’t cancelled because valve wasn’t happy, it was cancelled because valve essentially stopped all half life development due to them wanting to go in a different direction.

But if Valve makes a Half-Life 3, We would hope that Adrian Will come back and Gearbox's Games Becoming Canon, Also seeing the Canon that is Barney from HL2 is the one We played in Blue-Shift. We may never Know. Plus, 'Through the City' Mod feels like It's Canon to the Half-Life story. It can be "How Adrian Will return in Half-Life 3". We can wait and see.

It's an...interesting (not good) attempt at trying to make a Black Mesa scenario in the source engine, so I don't think it's relevant to this video.
Want to know why Opposing Force 2 Lost was abandoned ? The dev, a transgender Russian M-to-F with intense self-depreciating issues. was also responsible for Der Schwarze Nebel, a bizarre attempt to do a HL2 Beta Mod. The first work on Op For 2 Lost was praised, to say the least. At last we could play Urban Chaos, see the Citadel in the sky, face proto-Combine. Then all fell down when they decided to import Crysis model weapons, do some cutscenes and stuff like that. Some people criticized harshly, and the dev quickly put down his mod and was never heard again.

From what i saw of Return to Ravenholm, valve just got bored. I say this because you can tell they ripped a lot of ideas from thia to make left4dead. The shove mechanic, special zombie animations and their speed, and some of the sound effects were all repurposed in some fashion in L4D

The lead developer of TTC kicked my friend who was a coder for the team because he requested 2 attachments to be added into a viewmodel that was outdated anyways, but since it was done just wrong, my friend decided to do it himself and later got kicked from the team. The TTC source code is literally this entire time public for anyone to see and the models in TTC ain't optimized at all, I don't know how people did not notice the glaring issues with the models at all.

Half life 2 episode 4 thing in the demo gameplay it looked fun to play ,but doesnt fit to be half life . Its like half life mixed with left for dead. Zombies without headcrabs ? Mostly setting traps for zombies ? Zombie looking like mini tank mixed with hunter or different from left for dead ? Where is the half life in this ?
