How are you all finding Mercy's rez so far in Overwatch 2? It feels a little harder to find safe opportunities to use it but I'd love to hear about your experience with it so far!
Great guide! I found that the "Questions to ask" section was somethjng I've been sorely needing when using Mercys rez. Also the tech is greatly appreciated. Hopefully, I'll no longer fall out of range while using rez. Thanks again! Edit: Honestly, rez feels alright to me, but that may just be me since I still remember abusing and being abused by 5 man rez Mercy.
I wish self-cancelling rezzes incurred a smaller cooldown. It feels so frustrating when I mess up the speed or positioning on a rez and immediately lose the rez and 30 second cooldown activates.
my QP experience with Res. Enemy Mercy: Dives into the center of my entire team to Res an Ally who just died while I'm spam pinging her and nobody cares except me who pulls out the pistol to try and kill her. Get's out alive with no repercussions Me: Goes for a sneaky Res on an ally who died in a building a while ago. Instantly hounded and killed by the Genji who instantly Swift Slashes to me the second I start the Res
I do a lot of non sneaky diving rezzes in front of the enemeis and to get away with it, just make sure you’re in your ultimate so when you have the extra speed. Usually they’re too focused on the fight so, turn your beam off so they dont see u coming and then dive into the rezz and quickly dive out since your so fast in ult
I've noticed this in your vod reviews too, and I think one of the reasons I find your videos so helpful is how easy it is to follow your visual examples in the custom game. They always fit the thing you're explaining perfectly, and it's just so easy to understand what i should be doing or why something else is a bad idea. Also i feel like your videos get better every time you upload? really good job!
Aww, thank you so much! That really means a lot to hear. I've been putting in a lot of effort to improve the videos with every upload and make them as easy to follow/navigate as possible. To know that the videos helpful and the examples fit well means I'm on the right track :>
@@Skiesti I would like to add that the clear sectioning and timestamping has been really nice for sharing a specific tip or whatever. Each section stands on its own quite well, so if I want to show someone how the falling Rez works, I can just send them that time stamp and it all makes sense even without having seen the rest of the video.
When I was first learning mercy, all of this was so overstimulating for my brain- I couldn’t retain anything. Now, just a few shorts months and 200 mercy hours later, it’s all coming together 🎉 thank you for all of your kindness and the community you’ve created, Ski
Rez is a lot harder in ow2, if it wasn't for her new movement I don't know what mercy would bring to the table in this new enviromment, most of the time staying alive keeps the team alive. Maybe they need to change rez a little bit... so we can get more utility since we can do just one thing at the time: dmg boost, heal or rez
Mercy has always had the problem where she can only do 1 thing at a time compared to the other supports that don't have that same limitation. In the 5v5 environment she's kept viable by 2 main things IMO: - The ability to pocket (assisting DPS, helps secure kills) - Her new movement which is incredibly good once you've got a good handle on it It'd be nice to see a little more utility added to rez but I'm... Unfortunately pretty doubtful
I feel you. I do think rez has a place in the game but with how it is in the 5v5 setting right now it just... Isn't that fun? There's neat stuff you can do with it like I showed in this guide but yeah it's unlikely to be replaced or buffed IMO so we gotta make do
it just takes so fucking long, it’s only impactful if the person has ult, and literally everyone can stop her res atp so it’s just so useless. i use res less and less as i climb. i wish we could just have a new ability, one that doesn’t have a 5 minute cooldown and 1 minute cast time🧍♀️
I absolutely love rez and i play mercy in top 500, its the most "mind games" ability in the game with great value where you get it off, i rez alot with valk for more safety
I just wish we could cancel the Res. Even if there was no cooldown refund, I think this would allow the player to use Res more often and possibly get more Resses off. If there’s a Res that seems iffy but potentially high-impact, you could try it and then bail if someone comes at you. Still a risk, but since it’s less of a risk, I think it could be used more. If they did this, I think it would be cool to get the GA cooldown reset back, so you can run away as soon as you cancel no matter how long you actually channeled it. Then you could also potentially use the Res cancel as a GA reset, which would be very niche but cool.
These videos have been immensely helpful! My Mercy game has improved ten fold since I found your channel! I'm learning so much about tech I didn't even know Mercy had!
For me, the rez tech has been sorta difficult to pull off due to me being on console but I feel like I’ve been able to do wonders as a mercy main even while being on console. A main issue I’ve had has been truth to find good opportunities to use valk but I feel like that’s more of the fact that valk hasn’t really been all that great recently. But I’m really glad to see in this guide that you would be able to use valk specifically for a rez if it’s crucial. Ps I absolutely adore your videos and am so excited to see that it’s possible for us mercy mains to be just as crucial/ overall having a genuine use when in the hands a of player who understands her movements and abilities. Keep up the absolute amazing work!
There's plenty of uses for Valk, I'll end up going much more into her ultimate one of these days to help players who are having a hard time deciding when to use it. Rezzing in Valk like I explain in this guide is definitely a great way to use it. Also thank you! I'm glad that I've been able to show good ways to use her movement/abilities and that Mercy players are giving her a chance in her current state :>
Watching your Mercy videos, I now know why I struggle to win with Mercy, even when I feel like I'm maxing out her kit. She's capable of so much more than I knew! Great videos.
4:00 Rez Feints It's neat watching you (Skiesti) hold point using souls for mobility even when you don't Rez them. I think it makes the rez feints you actually do more effective.
I think they really should revert valk that have 20s duration and instant rez(not the 10s cooldown one). Rez of course is strong in usual, but valk supposed to enhance all her ability. Now she only got the chained beam and flying around while the team fight. This change can let her have more impact to a fight like the other supports.
Valk does more things, double length beams (30m instead of 15m), the health regen heals you even when taking damage, infinite ammo, faster GA speed, being able to move rezzing, shows enemy health bars, and now with the new movement Mercy is even better at stalling points with valk. The only buff I would give base Mercy is reducing a bit the rez animation, from 1.75 to 1.5 seconds, Mercy now has 1 less tank to cover her and draw attention from her, aside from that maybe more speed on valk, thats it.
@@AlexanderGarcia-uv7in As a GM mercy main since Overwatch 1. Yes valk can does a lot of things but except the chained beam, longer beam range and 60/hps, what any other things can help your team to win a fight. Rez in valk or out of it is also 1.75s, then why would I give up the mass dmg boost and heal to rez in valk, not to mention while you rezzing your team might die, but if you don’t go for the rez you might not be able to win that fight. It’s an ultimate not a normal ability. It should be impactful and strong. I don’t see valk is as good as other support ult. For me the current valk is just a 15s version of the overwatch 1 experimental patch mercy’s E ability, because the faster GA speed(which nerfed before), regen although getting hits it’s just letting HERSELF survive better but not for the team.
Also in this fast pace environment of Overwatch 2, how often you have time to pull off a rez while a team fight, your team could’ve been wiped while you using that 1.75s rez. If the current valk really that good to help your team, why mercy’s pick rate is lower than other support, the comment on her is that bad then, because the other support can do more than her and their ult can definitely help the team turn a fight.
i haven't played Overwatch since season 6, decided to come back this season and wanted to main mercy for her movement and unique playstyle's. so I typed grandmaster mercy mains and you were the first one to pop up. the amount of DETAIL you describe of mercy has to be the best guide I've seen. I watched all you guides so far and plain to re-watch every single one daily till it become embedded in my brain. not to mention your twitch channel of getting to see live reaction's and positioning. honestly you deserve more subs than you currently do, but thats just a opinion.
Oh my, that's a long time! Welcome back to Overwatch! Thank you and I'll be uploading plenty more guides for Mercy so you can look forward to more details about other parts of her kit and playstyle!
Amazing video as always skiesti! Thank you for these amazing tips and tricks😎🤝 I hate rez, especially in 5v5, i genuinely think she needs another ability. Theres times i love rez, like when rezzing an ally and they pop off and kill 4 or 5 people but 99% of the time rez feels so slow.
Thank you! I'm always happy to be of help :> Also, don't worry, I'm not that fond of rez in 5v5 either. Sometimes you can do neat things with it still but yeah, it's just a little outpaced by the setting of 5v5. It'd be nice to see a few adjustments but who knows if we'll get that since it's a hard ability to balance
As a Mercy main, this is dense and exactly the decision making, checklist I throw out the window in the heat of battle haha I think rez should be made to have 2 AoE heal charges, on 15 second cool downs but if you have 2 charges, it becomes rez. Gives her more mid fight utility with decision making for potentially sacrificing Rez.
I've been trying to cover everything one would need to know about the different aspects of Mercy's abilities in my guides so it does end up making them pretty dense but hopefully still easy to navigate!
You made exactly the video I needed to improve, thanks! Those priority tips are especially great, now to make them second nature by playing a lot of Mercy :D
Yeah I'm definitely not able to res as consistently as before, now that there are less teammates. Tempo reses are definitely much harder to get away with (but absolutely invaluable/vital to pull off, of course). Resing while stalling is basically out of the question, as you said. Res feels a little outdated or like it doesn't quite mesh with the pulse of the game now, if that makes sense.
I agree that rez feels outdated in Overwatch 2, I believe I touched on that in my suggestions video. 5v5 is just a little too fast for rez in most situations
I'm always happy to help and it's wonderful to hear the videos are assisting in your improvement! There'll be plenty more Mercy guides to come so keep an eye out for those too :>
love the videos, I would also love to see a mercy positioning guide including sight-lines and how to play around them when they have hitscan. this is definitely something I have difficulty with
I'm planning on working on a positioning guide (including sightlines) but for the time being, I should be releasing a new video on Saturday that shows a game vs. double sniper and playing around sightlines that'll help a lot!
Idk why but Rez has been something I've really been struggling with in OW2. I don't make dumb rez's but my Rez numbers are so low because I never feel comfortable making rezes (soul out in the open, team isn't helping with Rez, ally decided to solo flank) and I'm not really sure how to combat that
I understand that, I've been struggling with it as well (as you know). It didn't really help that a lot of people were running very aggressive dives either so there was even less of a chance at getting a rez. I think it's just a problem where the game is outpacing rez and rez hasn't been adjusted with the new setting in mind. I'm not sure if it ever will so it's just a matter of doing what you can. Maybe being a bit riskier but still with limitations in mind of what you will or absolutely won't go to rez
I wouldn't worry about applying ALL of the tricks immediately or anything. You can pick a few and start working them into your toolkit for Mercy and use them as you find them useful! Try not to overwhelm yourself :>
OK but the rush when I pull off a res while in Valk within the enemy team because they are too focused on my team. I don't do it often but seeing a rein or hog be summoned from the nine hells right in the enemy team is amazing
I didnt know of the midair rez, but i remember an echo died midair and when i pressed E, its soul stopped in the sky. it shocked me and the echo was also shocked lol
Hey thanks so much for that vid! Been a mercy main since lunch of ow 1. But never really got around to learn pro tricks. So thanks a lot! As to answer the question , i love res but sometimes it feels bad since you did a bad res or your teamate did not expect res.
i started in ow2, and i never played so much with mercy, and i am in a journey to get the Cute Spray of almost every hero, and god rez 5 without dying is hard.. i will get all these tips of this guide
The only thing that sucks is that in lower ranks when I play mercy it’s always the entire team being selfish saying that I should have resurrected them because they had more kills, but I was resurrecting someone who I thought could be more helpful in current situation or was in a safe spot. Then I get flamed for me not having more healing because I was mercy and apparently she’s only good when healing when her dmg boost is so much better.
Tbh at this point I barely rez outside of Valk, especially on the new OW2 maps. It just barely ever feels safe enough to rez with all the dmg and flankers flying around (+ the removal of a second tank) Rez might actually need a buff now 💀
Yup! In an example like Tracer vs. Mei, if the Mei isn't safe and the Tracer is, then rez Tracer unless someone else is likely to die after in which case it might be best to save it for that person. However, if Mei and Tracer are both safe then I'd rez Mei as she comes back slower
Ohh one time I was playing mercy and I had a dva tank and the game was contested (enemy team at 99% of the point) and I was about to die but managed to rez dva and she had her self destruct, we won the game
Not gonna lie, as a lucio player myself i think boop should be a guarantee way to cancel res, usually im the only one in my team watching for it and its so annoying that my way to deal with it only works if mercy's positioning is poor.
I'm starting to wonder if I was just imagining all the "there's less opportunity to rez now"? Like a placebo thing? Yes there's one less teammate to peel for you, but at the same time there's one less enemy to target you AND a lot less CC. Sure there is one less target to resurrect, but you only get rez once every 30 seconds so the number of teammates/enemies shouldn't influence that. Rez failing due to death is now way more frequent than failing due to CC, everything looks safe and suddenly a Sojourn slides in and snipes you, or Sombra does invisible hack and finishes you off, or Widow snipes you from an unexpected angle. Is that because the rez is outdated, or is it because flankers and burst are super overtuned right now? I almost never get away with risky rezzes anymore unless I'm in valkyrie, is that because the gameplay changed or is it the overtuned thing again, or maybe because I climbed the ranks? The only thing I'm fully certain on is that if your tank dies, it's extremely difficult to rez them back unless they managed to die in a very safe spot or the enemies also lose their tank and/or both DPS, where previously in OW1 most of my rezzes were used on our tanks regardless of the status of the enemy team.
The environment of OW2 is just... Much more fast paced. Since the game plays faster and rez has a cast time + less protection to be offered during it, it's pretty outdated. Flankers can contribute to being able to go for less rezzes but I believe it's majorly because of the change in gameplay/pace and rez not being adjusted properly for it. It's a pretty common thing among Mercy players rn to be feeling like they have less time or opportunities to rez. I don't think it's a placebo thing because there are reasons for it to feel that way and it's just rough :(
I am late to the party, but I am looking for clarification on the long superjump rez. So, you do not press crouch during this..instead lookup and jump while rezzing?
I hate how my teammates would die while my rez is on cool down, then they would yell at me in voice chat to rez THEM and would never understand “No.” somehow, I’m so glad the ping system is a thing now cause I never talk in the chat
When two allies are down and you want to res ally 1 but they are in a dangerous spot should you just res ally 2 since it’s safer. Is it better to save your life even though ally one is now going to take a while to get back from spawn. At that point should you just leave it
I find whenever I superjump rez it cancels on me going up (assuming its due to going out of range). I need to wait until im coming back down for it to work but you dont seem to show that problem on your super jump rez, how?
which of the the many rez types do you recommend most to masters? there's too many you provide that don't seem practical, just rez types that are technically doable, but maybe im wrong?
For the section of rez types, I'd recommend learning all of them. Take it slowly and learn them two at a time. Common Rez Types: LoS Rez, Momentum Rez, Crouch Rez, Falling Rez, Valk Rez, Backward GA Rez There are a few that are a bit more niche but still important to learn for the situations you need them which are: Falling Soul Rez, Superjump Rez, Forward GA Rez, Downward GA Rez
You normally do that ONLY at the beginning of the game when you don't have ult charge so no you don't lose 70% ult charge. This only has ult charge because I was in the custom game long enough to get my ult
I stream on Twitch Sunday - Friday every week at 10am EST And I just released a full gameplay commentary today here: ruclips.net/video/8zwikCWEkd4/видео.html

love the videos, I would also love to see a mercy positioning guide including sight-lines and how to play around them when they have hitscan. this is definitely something I have difficulty with
I'm planning on working on a positioning guide (including sightlines) but for the time being, I should be releasing a new video on Saturday that shows a game vs. double sniper and playing around sightlines that'll help a lot!
That's good point on the decision making of when and how to rez. Thank you for this!
Your movement is an inspiration
This is really useful, especially the do's and dont's...which I should probably follow more 😋
The do's and don'ts section almost wasn't included so it's great to know that it's been so useful!
I doubt I will be able to apply all these tricks, mainly the long range res, feels a bit complicated for me xD But overall very helpful video!
I wouldn't worry about applying ALL of the tricks immediately or anything. You can pick a few and start working them into your toolkit for Mercy and use them as you find them useful!
Try not to overwhelm yourself :>
@@Skiesti Ye will do thank you! With what I have applied so far it has helped me alot :D
more ski mercy tips oh we are so blessed
OK but the rush when I pull off a res while in Valk within the enemy team because they are too focused on my team. I don't do it often but seeing a rein or hog be summoned from the nine hells right in the enemy team is amazing
lmfao it's like a raid boss spawning behind them 🤣
I didnt know of the midair rez, but i remember an echo died midair and when i pressed E, its soul stopped in the sky. it shocked me and the echo was also shocked lol
Hey thanks so much for that vid! Been a mercy main since lunch of ow 1. But never really got around to learn pro tricks. So thanks a lot!
As to answer the question , i love res but sometimes it feels bad since you did a bad res or your teamate did not expect res.
i started in ow2, and i never played so much with mercy, and i am in a journey to get the Cute Spray of almost every hero, and god rez 5 without dying is hard.. i will get all these tips of this guide
so, I need to keep in my mind that res is a niche ability, and I should only use when needed AND if it's safe to do so. Thank you Skiesti ❤
Thank you for this video, it was very entertaining, I don't play mercy but I subbed liked and commented this
The only thing that sucks is that in lower ranks when I play mercy it’s always the entire team being selfish saying that I should have resurrected them because they had more kills, but I was resurrecting someone who I thought could be more helpful in current situation or was in a safe spot. Then I get flamed for me not having more healing because I was mercy and apparently she’s only good when healing when her dmg boost is so much better.
I'm so much better after watching these videos!
Tbh at this point I barely rez outside of Valk, especially on the new OW2 maps.
It just barely ever feels safe enough to rez with all the dmg and flankers flying around (+ the removal of a second tank)
Rez might actually need a buff now 💀
in the "Two+ Allies Dead" section, i assume we also need to consider which soul(s) are safer to rez, yea?
Honestly mostly came here for things to prevent mercy res. like death or a brig boop. then i got suckered in to the rest of a good video
great video as always ski!
Thank you :>
People say they find it hard to pull of but for me i have been able to make every one of them with super jump rez, valk rez or normal rez
Gr8 vid, first time watching u and this was very informative and I really enjoyed watching. Thank u for the guide :)
thank you very much i love mercy so much
6:13 How do I have 3.1k hours on Mercy and not find this out organically.
LMAO it's okay, it's a pretty easy thing to miss since there's a limited amount of spots where you can do this
Not gonna lie, as a lucio player myself i think boop should be a guarantee way to cancel res, usually im the only one in my team watching for it and its so annoying that my way to deal with it only works if mercy's positioning is poor.
I don't think it's a placebo thing because there are reasons for it to feel that way and it's just rough :(
Sometimes if its a baby dva, and we have like 4v3 or smth, I ask them to die so I rez them w a mech
I just don't understand how to do the more complicated resurrections, I just fail every time
i wanted to know how I can rez normally, because I could not figure it out. Now I feel like an idiot, because you just hold the dang button.
I am late to the party, but I am looking for clarification on the long superjump rez. So, you do not press crouch during this..instead lookup and jump while rezzing?
in the first 16 seconds and at the 1:20 ish mark how do you stay in the air like that going up and down etc without Valkyrie?
As a mercy main, you have made my psn mercy plays 10000 times better. We love you. uwu
💛💛
I hate how my teammates would die while my rez is on cool down, then they would yell at me in voice chat to rez THEM and would never understand “No.” somehow, I’m so glad the ping system is a thing now cause I never talk in the chat
Pinging rez is really good for telling teammates when rez is on cooldown and when it won't be available. I've been using it tons :>
@@Skiesti Same, now that it’s available, less ragers for me lol 🤧
I'm trying to get the revive where I fly in then use my jump to lunge back/or crouch to fly up. Can't get the timing yet did it once lol
Those ones are a bit trickier to get but the more you practice, the easier it'll get!
@@Skiesti yes I'll keep trying I'm a lucio main but want to learn all the good supports
The guilt I feel when I rez someone only for them to die, or rez them by accident (damn controllers).
When two allies are down and you want to res ally 1 but they are in a dangerous spot should you just res ally 2 since it’s safer. Is it better to save your life even though ally one is now going to take a while to get back from spawn. At that point should you just leave it
a lot of ashes were harmed in the making of this video
How do you let your team know when you're ready to rez?
I'm finding that I gotta rez either really quick or don't use it at all due to 5v5
OG ones remember when Tess was his ultimate and she could revive the ENTIRE TEAM
I find whenever I superjump rez it cancels on me going up (assuming its due to going out of range). I need to wait until im coming back down for it to work but you dont seem to show that problem on your super jump rez, how?
love this video!
Hey Skiesti, how did you get your mousea nd keyboard to show on the right side of your monitor? Many thanks
If the tank is dead, revive the tank, but if the tank is alive, see support and DPS is dead res support see tank and support and DPS is dead res tank
Is looking backward and looking down going to make Mercy get a headshot harder during res?
I find the rez ping to be super buggy, I'll aim directly at the soul and it pings a random enemy behind cover. so annoying
Yeaaah it doesn't work for me properly all the time either but I'd recommend messing with your ping sensitivity and other settings
1:24 "nah, I'd rez"
Flats sent me. I suddenly now know I have never played mercy properly.
Welcome! If you're ever interested in learning to play Mercy properly, you'll definitely find a lot of resources here :>
which of the the many rez types do you recommend most to masters? there's too many you provide that don't seem practical, just rez types that are technically doable, but maybe im wrong?
For the section of rez types, I'd recommend learning all of them. Take it slowly and learn them two at a time.
Common Rez Types:
LoS Rez, Momentum Rez, Crouch Rez, Falling Rez, Valk Rez, Backward GA Rez
There are a few that are a bit more niche but still important to learn for the situations you need them which are:
Falling Soul Rez, Superjump Rez, Forward GA Rez, Downward GA Rez
@@Skiesti I appreciate the response, Ill try them all out :)
Question I have is when is it best to switch from mercy?
when you can counter with one of your subs or in a map/comp that is better for another support (thats why i picked up brig)
Is widow or zen a higher priority rez?
What do you all think? (With or without transcendence)
Zen with and without, but it also depends on the skill level of both players
for me if the enemy teams tank is dead, I rez the widow to pick off the rest of the squishies without their tanks protection!
If you could rework Mercy, what changes would you make?
I've actually got a whole video on that! ruclips.net/video/umrXMuioi4k/видео.html
@@Skiesti oooh ty
@@Skiesti haha you are right people do ask that question alot!
How you fly all the Time with Mercy ?! Wow
Would recommend checking out my movement guide!

@@Skiesti I'm going to check thanks :)
4:20 You lost 70% ult charge doing so.
You normally do that ONLY at the beginning of the game when you don't have ult charge so no you don't lose 70% ult charge. This only has ult charge because I was in the custom game long enough to get my ult
i have a question do you have pink mercy
Yes, it was gifted to me when it was available
Can you stream more gameplay? Like full game play not shorts
I stream on Twitch Sunday - Friday every week at 10am EST
And I just released a full gameplay commentary today here: ruclips.net/video/8zwikCWEkd4/видео.html
@@Skiesti ok tnx, I'll be on stream tomorrow
thx u
I hate it because people waste it and my time
I wish resurrection gave Mercy ultimate charge. 😢
the unnecessary rez (do it for the statssssss) LMAO
LMAO, yes, sometimes we do it for the stats 👏
❤️
I can't play overwatch 2 because you've wasted my time and continue to waste my time/.
No setting info😕👎🏽
You're right! But if you look at my channel, there's a whole video on her settings you can watch :>
