honestly my only real complaints about this game mode is 1. The choice of orisa over someone like winston, ram, or queen 2. the kiriko missiles, the amount of knock back those things have is insane
Lets be honest they just took the PvE talents that they had made for PvE and put them into this mode. That means if the hero didnt have a complete set of PvE talents, or they make no sense for PvP, the hero simply wasnt picked.

Zen is so cool. The AoE discord/harmony isn't really that good, even if it is cool because no more than 1 or maybe 2 people are ever gonna be in that radius, and zen already has a talent that gives him 2 of each. But all the passive bonuses like movespeed on harmony, giving himself a mini Orb, increasing his HP to 400... it's all really really nice
This is definitely 100% testing environment where if they got rid of hero switching entirely and testing out talents/cards loadouts like either Paladins or HotS. Hell, if you play Dva in this mode you'll recognize a fair amount of inspiration from HotS talents that she has. Like defense matrix giving you ultimate charge for all the damage you absorb, or causing enemies within it to take more damage. Those are both HotS Dva talents. I'm gonna guess the regular balance patch notes were screwy because they spent so much time trying to make this mode at least half balanced.
It's always kinda funny to see OW embrace more and more aspects from Paladins once OW2 dropped. I recall so many comments over Paladins being a clone and "rip-off" back in the day, and yet here we are.
Umm I don’t think so. I’m pretty sure they’re not moving in that direction for the main game modes. This is just a mix of the talents that they had already worked on for PVE that were inspired by those games. They’re focus rn is the 6v6 play test ad far as core game changes go. Not locking heroes and skill trees.
@@joshuacollins9316it does kinda make sense too when you put into the perspective that some of those changes like Ram would’ve probably been for 6v6 because honestly if double shield comes back, Ram would have been really strong in that sense without that change. So it does put in a few questions if the team is trying to do adjustments before 6v6 trialing testing sometime this season. Otherwise though, the rest are changes are either meh or just plain bad.

Putting kiri and orisa was their biggest mistake. this mode is either nothing dies or you explode faster than you thought was even possible in this game.
true, not to mention all rhe characters are just toxic for comps, like if you picked the wrong character at the beginning of the game then it's just 10-20 minutes of being diffed

They dropped Orisa and Rein in to see how well each would do against each other in an environment where you can't counter swap, and if a talent system could alleviate the normally one sided nature of the matchup
I'm not actually against the entire roster getting a universal nerf and instead "powering" the heroes by keeping the skill selection in the main game. I think having more variety per hero might really help fight the counter-picking issue and keep the game fresh since now there are "builds" to play with.
I got the most broken kiriko build the other day increased speed for kunai's, with an added genji right click worth of kunai's that were explosive. I did more damage than both my DPS and Tank. The enemy team was always just trying to jump me since I could delete their tank.
This is by far the most broken combo in the event. The only other heroes with a build even half as good as Kiri the Carpet-bomber are Soldier's homing rocket build and Dva's low fire rate/high dps builds.
I had a kiri with that build in one of my games, I was mercy since there was no way I was playing zen/Moira into genji/dva. (I backfilled and knew who was there from the combat sounds) Dmg boost, plus healing for 8% dmg done. The healing boost thing. Immortality during res, and 30% overshield for rezzed person. That kiri cleaned up. It was so funny.
I got a similar combo last night, triple explosive kunai with the 40% proj speed. Was cackling like a maniac all the way. Similar shout out to the Moira triple orb explosion combined with fade distance. Teleport on to squishy and blast orbs in their face.
This is a skill issue. By the end of day 2 I was sitting at roughly 20-11 win/loss. I'm a silver/gold player and played evenly across every role. If you build right you just win more often than not. Not all builds are made equal. For example, Rein has a very strong build based around the healing for a percentage of blocked damage card. I have yet to see an opposing Rein take it once but I have a near 100% win rate when I build around it.
Most of my team has been toxic and it’s mostly because of unlucky counter picks before game starts, or when where winning, two randoms leave on enemy team and replace with new players with counters.
my only complaint is that sometimes, if you have another of your hero on the enemy team, it becomes a race to get the best perks, at random. experienced this on Rein once, where they got the lava firestrike first.
Pharah is bonkers this mode. Double jet jumps and concussion shots and youre literally zipping around like doom guy in eternal slapping people with rockets feels WAY too good.
Playing Pharah feels like easy mode, and I LOVE it. I pulled a 48:4 yesterday, and one of those deaths was me being distracted by my clothes washer making weird sounds. 😅 The enemy team even had 2 hitscans (Ashe and Soldier), and it was still very easy. I need to finish my DPS games before they nerf her!
Seeing some of the artists post on Twitter about working on animations for this, and GLAD that they're able to return to some of the OG characters for a bit. (They wouldn't say, but a lot of this is likely cleaned up bits from the 5 years of PVE systems being worked on. I'm very glad those repos got shelved instead of outright canned. There's hope yet...)
@@StormierNik In base Overwatch 2, if you’re cooked, you counterswap. And feel miserable for having to participate in the counterswapping contest that ensues. At least in this mode, swapping is not allowed but the game gives you options to counter your counter, only problem is when the enemy you wanted to counter leaves and another join and make a totally different build, the build you made to counter the leaver becomes awkward.
I watched the stream, so when you sang a little song about going slowly insane and how you had to fill out a quota, I could tell you were having the best time of your life.
I'm a fairly new player to OW2 and I love this game mode. A super buffed triple orb build is so much fun. They can one shot people and full heal teammates in the final round. 😂
You gotta go with the heeseeker, the field that moves around you, the 200 percent to the healing field, the biotic field with every helix direct hit, and just for funzies use the rocket burn.
Feels like every single Soldier I've played against in this mode so far has been made God-tier with these buffs. They could be running around aimlessly like the one in this video, and then turn around and practically delete me in 2 seconds.
For me, the Orisa, Ashe & Zenyatta in this gamemode *are actually cracked up & buttfuck insane* if you get the right perks combined together. Also, joining in on an active map pre-locks you into the character of the person that left along with their chosen mutations which I feel is a solid balance tbh. All in all, great seasonal gamemlde to have fun & go crazy. 😂🤪
I have only played and only plan to play Moira and Mercy. I like a lot of mercys (obv ga cooldown is the most fun). My fave build on Moira is fade speed increase, fade cooldown increase, and fade increased length. You can use jump and objects around the map to go flying. It feels like playing a dragon flying sim in ow.
honestly the biggest mistake they made with this mode was putting Pharah/Mercy and Orisa in it. Talking about taking some of the least liked heroes in the game and putting them in your for fun mode where they get to be even more broken. The Mode would have been much more fun if they used different heroes that aren't notoriously hated. My last minor complaint is the sheer amount of perks that just add more damage without really changing gameplay. Pushing characters to just 1 shot more often isn't fun. I find a lot of Ashe's perks to be extremely strong but also extremely boring or unfun to play against because it just buffs the damage on her gun and now she 1 taps people.
My simple complaint is that they overcooked the damage aspect. It ramps up way too fast - which makes it biased heavily into aim/tracking pissing contest, while tanks get deleted and healers feel useless xD
with the sombra comment, I think what they should do is keep the invis with the TP but her basic "stealth" is she has no footsteps but she is not inivisible. this way she can still be a flanker without being constantly invisible
I saw a good recommendation, because keeping her entry and exit separate is important, that her stealth could have a depletion meter like hog or Moira, it was my favorite recc so far
i love dva is this mode, using a dive build inta kils, its so fun. use the double punch while boosters are active, and anything that helps more damage while diving
you just have to remember EVERYONE has mods to make them stronger. so sometimes you just get DELETED hard. still a surprisingly fun mode. would get super hard once people get used to and learn how to exploit the mods
Dva can heal ban and have 2nd charge on missile. Orisa can fly. Rein's fire strike can creat burning trails on ground. Soldier's heal follows him around and give 75 energy shield to all allies. Zen can have discord/heal orbs on 2 different targets at the same time and atk speed boost every time you crit.
Two big problem children for this game mode are the mods that make Ashe one-shot headshot 225 hp, and the triple orb stuff for moira. Otherwise it’s pretty fun
i super hope they keep this year round, just adding new characters every season to it. honestly orissa isn't even that bad in this, just DONT SHOOT THE ORRISA, go for the healbot mercys that are around them first.
I played this and went Dva, I didn’t know you couldn’t swap. First round I was doing poorly and then a Moira bagged me for no reason and the next 3 rounds me and my team played great and won, besides that Moira everyone was nice and I got 4 or 5 endorsements at once so I was really touched. Both teams were good. Also I am loving the Ocarina of time music.
Orisa actually is fun to play in this game mode. What’s not fun is having a kiri x mercy on your team. Zen and Moria are significantly better and are slightly more fun then playing kiri & mercy just is boring. Had a blast playing genji, but I had the most fun playing Rein, Orisa, Moria, and Zen tbh
They lowkey cooked this gamemode ngl. Now it ain’t no campaign or PvE, but for first time in a long while since Mischief and Magic(Not counting Invasion) they cooked. Wish there were more heroes though, at least from the ones from Junkenstein’s Revenge and Revenge of the bride.
Genuinely i think if they balanced the talents, overwatch would be better if switching was just entirely removed from comp and we had something similar to this instead
Honestly what were the devs smoking to add Orisa out of all tanks into the gamemode, they should know by now that nobody likes playing against orisa and on top of that orisa is meta rn 😭💀
some heros are good but when you got someone like orisa or dva on the enemy, half of your abilities are useless like reins firestrike or ashes dynamite. its all great but there could be more added to the roster like ram or zarya.

Only played against one orisa in this gamemode and i mostly play quickplay and got almost no orisas last season, is the orisa meta just a high elo thing
So this is the best event mode they've released right? Or we taking points away for it being from the corpse of pve? Only thing I'm not a fan of is that certain characters just become glass as others gain more dmg and more health.

Triple explosive Kunai and speed of attack make her a better dps than anyone on the field.
Losing every game is so relatable with this mode, I have played like 20 but only won like 6 or so.
I played 10 and lost 9 in a row just last night. The win/loss streak and SBMM don’t apply here since this is technically still arcade.

It’s REALLY fun, I love the rougelike element to this mode! But oh my god the matches can really be one sided for either team

I made a Tank 76 build. If you get all the biotic field upgrades you become unkillable and it never runs out.

When a Rein tries to pin you while you're playing Ashe, you wanna coach gun the ground that way you fly into the air and he can't get you.

Two big problem children for this game mode are the mods that make Ashe one-shot headshot 225 hp, and the triple orb stuff for moira. Otherwise it’s pretty fun
Genjis were running lobbies in my experience. Matches with no Genji were pretty close.
Soldier running around with constant bio field and 400 hp is great!
i super hope they keep this year round, just adding new characters every season to it. honestly orissa isn't even that bad in this, just DONT SHOOT THE ORRISA, go for the healbot mercys that are around them first.
I lov this mode. i'd play ti all year round. poor flats sounds o tired and defeated for this though. 3:04 zelda music is on point appreciate.
I played this and went Dva, I didn’t know you couldn’t swap. First round I was doing poorly and then a Moira bagged me for no reason and the next 3 rounds me and my team played great and won, besides that Moira everyone was nice and I got 4 or 5 endorsements at once so I was really touched. Both teams were good. Also I am loving the Ocarina of time music.

The only complaint I have is 400 HP Zenyatta exists in this gamemode.
Getting rid of double jump for Kiriko was a very bad move. It’s one of her best perks.

S76 can get really tank with mobile field with shields, damage reduction on top of that healing
i love how they add rein and then the only other tanks counter rein
Orisa actually is fun to play in this game mode. What’s not fun is having a kiri x mercy on your team. Zen and Moria are significantly better and are slightly more fun then playing kiri & mercy just is boring. Had a blast playing genji, but I had the most fun playing Rein, Orisa, Moria, and Zen tbh
They lowkey cooked this gamemode ngl. Now it ain’t no campaign or PvE, but for first time in a long while since Mischief and Magic(Not counting Invasion) they cooked. Wish there were more heroes though, at least from the ones from Junkenstein’s Revenge and Revenge of the bride.
Zen damage build is SO FUN I LOVE IT
I think the problem with this gamemode is that certain characters are just better and that there aren't enough characters to pick from.
Genuinely i think if they balanced the talents, overwatch would be better if switching was just entirely removed from comp and we had something similar to this instead

Honestly what were the devs smoking to add Orisa out of all tanks into the gamemode, they should know by now that nobody likes playing against orisa and on top of that orisa is meta rn 😭💀
some heros are good but when you got someone like orisa or dva on the enemy, half of your abilities are useless like reins firestrike or ashes dynamite. its all great but there could be more added to the roster like ram or zarya.
Also lmao, Flats... Orisa ain't problem in this mode. You were just lucky to not see damn dva players xD

The sombra change is good now bad sombras can actually be punished not get free value. She was never meant to be an easy hero
I love the new game mode but I agree, Orisa makes it miserable but in my own opinion, soldier is a little busted with the right build in that game mode
Only played against one orisa in this gamemode and i mostly play quickplay and got almost no orisas last season, is the orisa meta just a high elo thing
So this is the best event mode they've released right? Or we taking points away for it being from the corpse of pve?
Only thing I'm not a fan of is that certain characters just become glass as others gain more dmg and more health.
they just need to add way more characters (or all of them) and keep this in the game. lol you could even fix sombra with enough modifiers
