The real problem to me is, that most people aren't going to put enough money or time into their PC setup or to configure/mod their games for the best VR experience possible. Like heavily modded Skyrim VR and Bonelab Fusion is the most fun I've ever had in VR, you can't get that on any other medium.

As much as I love VR myself, one thing I have to say is that a lot of games that come out for VR do tend to be overpriced for what you get. Obviously, there's games that are worth more, but for me, at least, that's rarely the case Legendary Tales is £46 don't get me wrong. It's a fun game, and I've enjoyed what I've played from it so far. In my 12 hours But at its current price, it is just not worth it, and it's not the only game that suffers from that ( Great video. I look forward to seeing what else you make!)
The price thing is so dumb, I've had the quest 3 for like 8 months now. In the beginning a lot of beat saber but I recently picked up Vtol VR and just for that game it's worth it. There's no other simulator that immersive but at the same time (ironically) cheap. You don't need a 2k€ pc just to run it and the game is cheap as well. If i were to pick up DCS I'd need to spend like 200€ on track ir, 400€ on a hotas and probably even a hardware upgrade just to get somewhat close to vtol. Vtol is definitely the better option
In my country you either get a used quest 2 for reasonably cheap, or you sell a kidney Also quest is WIRELESS I know pico exists, but i checked the other day and it was about 2x the price of quest 2
I hope Samsung and google’s new headset do something against the meta dominance (not gear and daydream, the new one) A hassle free, mid range pc hmd could be a huge market appeal, but judging by snapdragon’s role in this it’s likely a standalone too. I just don’t see the google Samsung team up can challenge meta’s exclusive software market, google have a problem with long term support on their products.
I hate the fact that when I want to play a game on pc with meta quest via cable I need to connect through meta quest link (which is eating my RAM alive) and then launch steam vr. That is 2 layers of software on top of my game. PS. I know about steam vr app for meta quest but for that I would have to buy a separate router
What are your thoughts on the pico 4? I got mine as a second hand for RM900 (163 pounds). Although it is under tiktok, you don't need a tiktok account to use it, albeit you need to make a pico account. My only gripe with it is that 1. because its a bit lesser known, and there aren't that many people making compatible gunstocks (atleast available in my country). 2. The pico store is good but is definitely lacking in compared to the meta AND is more expensive if you compare the games to steam.
If i'm going to be honest, my exact issues with meta quests apply to the pico 4. I learned about it from another commenter here but actually looking into it... It to me just feels like choosing a different looking Lucifer. One thing I didn't know and I should have corrected in the video is that you don't make a facebook account but a meta account which are apparently different. My issue with vr is that I can't align my fucking eyes because no vr headset I have ever seen has an up and down on the lenses, IT'S LITERALLY HALF A CENTIMETRE DIFFERENCE IN HEIGHT COME ONNNNNNNNNN
I think for the cost of VR, it's the quality of it that's really is important. Like the Quest 3, sure it's $500, but its not the best in terms of how standalone games ran or battery life expectancy is. For it to be worth while, you 'd have to buy accessories to play for more than 2-3 hours long. So that also adds $100+ more for those needed items for the Quest 3 to feel comfortable. But for game, it's only because the lack of games isn't what they mean, they're tired of the same game coming out to VR that doesn't innovate in terms of what VR can do. We have 2 displays on hour heads to use now, why not use one of them to make a different color that only you can see on the right eye, and the left eye the same thing. Or what about making pushes for movement in VR using hands to help with pushing against the wall, sliding, etc. I think it's really the games being the biggest issues though. If there's no game that MAKES me want to buy a VR just to play (i.e. Half-Life: Alyx), which in my opinion is why people say that too. All the FPS games I've played have very similar formulas for weapon design, movement, and graphic design.

VR is overpriced, dont care what anybody thinks, Im saying this as a Quest 2 owner, for 400+ bucks I expect the original cable included, better head strap, seamless airlink and no issues like sound missing, endless loading screens and/or Ultra Lag when attempting to open the VR Menu every damn time I hook it up, I also expect to play games without creating another redundant account, I dont want to be forced to use steamVR since it dosnt start and shows a different error every time (games work perfectly fine without it what a quick pirate voyage shows...), if it works its such a good experience but not worth hours of setup and loss of sanity due to another error or bug, the amount of times I punched the hell out of this thing for not working is unfathomable it got good durability at least. as it is right now its worth 150 bucks, that is if you include the cable and better strap of course and my setup is good enough dont take me for a fool pls...
before somebody drops his load all over the thread, the piracy is solely so I can access the games I paid for, since the garbage app wont start to save its own existence...
Virtual desktop is pretty much a must-buy for pcvr, quest link is trash and unusable, alvr is a free alternative if not troublesome. Steam link is free too but ok quality… so I do see your point, it is overpriced if you bought it full priced.
@@kail4997 Relying on third-party software really doesn't give me my money's worth, especially if it adds even more expenses. infact, the average cost americans spend on groceries per month is around $475 a month. would you rather eat food for a month or get a vr headset. ill let you decide that
Who needs food when you have Virtual Reality lmao. No but seriously, I'm not saying for everyone to go out and get a new vr headset or anything like that. I'm just saying the argument of it being too expensive just isn't true. If you think it's nothing but a glorified virtual boy then sure it's expensive but I see it as a new console and in a world where consoles are getting almost double the price of a quest 2 I don't think that argument holds much water. Also I used disposable income for a comparison which is after all bills and expenses such as food and gas.Tbf looking back, using averages was really dumb considering how disgustingly rich some people are.
Longer comment, but I want to talk about the points you made. I have a Quest 3 and have tried many games so far. 1. Too expensive You live in the UK and you're saying it's not too expensive. Guess what, it is for most of the world. I paid my whole salary worth just to get a Quest 3 after months of saving up. In the UK, for the median salary, you need to take about 30% of your salary. You're just delusional here. It IS too expensive unless you want a used Quest 2 which is lacking comparing to newer headsets. 2. Not enough space I agree with you on this one, but I always play standing. The only thing I hate are the guardian lines always popping up. 3. There are many games, but 99.9% of these games come nowhere close to a mid, 7/10 flatscreen game. 4. "It's only tech demos". I would't say most are tech demos, but most VR games are reeeeeaaaaally lacking in content. Yes, you have HL:Alyx, AC Nexus etc. but these are a vast minority in the sea of unpolished, cluncky, messy games (looking at you Hitman 3 Reloaded). We were promissed GTA: San Andreas for example, and where is it? Delayed probably forever. 5. The real issues? It's not the lizard overlords and Meta. They are the reason VR has become a lot more popular. The real issues are the price (unless you want a Quest 2 which is now really old and behind), games which are just not even close to flatscreen games in quality and scope (99.9% of them), and MOTION SICKNESS which these games cause. These won't simply go away. In my opinion, even though I like VR, I still feel like it has a looooong way to go. My personal favourite experience is Minecraft VR despite putting over a 1000 hours into the regular version of the game. It just tells you that VR is really lacking in big, open games with tons of content.
Hi, thank you for taking your time to comment! I just wanted to respond to some of what you said. I absolutely agree, and should have said more on how motion sickness is one of the main barriers to entry for a lot of people. I am fortunate enough to never have to deal with it but my gf would get motion sick with vr for less than a minute with even seated vr. I stood on it though as suddenly she was able to deal with standing vr for hours. So that looks like something to study on its own some other time. I completely disagree with your pricing argument though. I understand that I am fortunate but like I said in the video it's a lot for a majority of people. However, in comparison to a new console, it's not even close to the price people ask for those consoles. Also, I don't understand why the whole quest 2 thing is seen as a no-go because it's lacking on some fronts. I don't really understand why when it comes to vr, people don't see budget options as viable.
But you also have to consider that for the price of a Quest 3, you can build an alright 1080p gaming PC or get a PS5. I know that these don't offer the VR experience which is unique, but still, what sells consoles/systems are videogames. Don't get me wrong, I'm rooting for VR to succeed, but there are still many problems. The entry level headset at the moment is only really the Quest 2. Hopefully, the upcoming Quest 3s won't be too expensive and it allows more people to try VR. The Quest 2 is fine, but it's at the end of it's lifetime with some new games not even launching on it, and that's exactly what VR needs, new games. I've had issues with motion sickness in VR to the point where I actually returned my first headset only to give it another shot months later. It's a big problem, but luckily for some like you, you don't get to experience it. These days I can still only last for about 30 minutes before I start to feel slightly sick. It has improved from only 10 minutes though, but still, 30 minutes is not much.

@@akcnornavi7574 No you cannot build a decente pc for the price of a VR meta quest 3. Stop the bs. And its a total diferent experince your inside the game. You are the game. I got gaming laptop and i love both. But its a total diferent experience. And guess what you can play it your pc. Its a win win all around.
@@crymore... bro you can, my pcs parts are worth around 500 ajusting with price changes and i can play modern triple A games on medium low settings, stop the cap
if were talking about new parts then thats a different story
@@akcnornavi7574 I think that the quest 3 is mainly supposed to be an upgrade for quest 2 users and the quest 3s should be the next good cheap headset
"We aren't dealing with just shitty tech demos"
Most vr games are just shitty tech demos masquerading as real games (and charging as much)
nah
annoying voice in first 10 seconds of your video : pause to quickly write rage bait and click off.
Wasn't my intention to rage bait just the voice my gf put on for the voiceover, sorry!
Vr is heavily over rated
yeah. it has potential but it's not really that good yet.
@@lukefortune8314 fr people keep saying its going to be good but never will, just a fad
