Your last 3 videos were for the Echo show but she is not in any of your thumbnails. No one is interested in Echo and the show was all over the place. How do you make a show with Indians boring? We need super hero stories. Mind bending action where it's like a game of chess with super hero powers. Lay down the rules and power sets and have fun with it. At this point in 2024 we should have had a Kingpin Show and a Daredevil show on Disney+ by now. What you're witnessing is mismanagement of intellectual property. A historical failure with Star Wars and now Marvel. This will be a costly failure for share holders and fans of story first.
stop it dude, this series was friggan terrible, do not shill for disney please
@@mikegammon1 How did we go from Winter Soldier to CW in no time?
Jut a FYI ryan, Graham Greene is a Actor. not just a " native american" actor. just wanted to throw that out there..
A little extra context since I watch everything with subtitles. In the scene where Maya is fighting her first guy and the sound goes down on just the heartbeat, the subtitles explicitly say two heartbeats. In the close quarters and wrapped up with someone, you'd feel two heartbeats. When we hear the snap the subtitles say single heartbeat. Just a really cool detail they put in there.
Wanted to point that out, too. That wasn't her heartbeat stopping because she is now a killer. It was his heartbeat she felt. I was ready to fight for my take on it, but when the subtiles say it. I won't need to :)
I just want to say that Chula is her Grandmother not her Aunt. Something that you mistakenly said when talking about seeing the woodpecker before the car crash.
He also called Henry Maya’s “Childhood friend” Henry Lopez is her uncle 😂
As a member of the Choctaw Nation, absolutely stoked to see representation of our language and culture on screen. Thank you for a great review and for supporting the show! One correction is that the Premiere was at the Choctaw Cultural Center not the casino.
representation in an unknown series who's views mostly come from RUclips hype
how fun and exciting
That's awesome! Haven't watched the show yet but glad they are giving people more representation overall.

As a martial arts teacher i really appreciated the epic Daredevil vs Echo fight. I watched it 3 times before I figured out the spinning kick that she does with the hover chamber.
This is the opposite of what everyone online has been saying it would be going into the debut… what a freaking awesome show. Trailer tone did not change at all. Totally in the Netflix vein, loved it.
Had zero hype for the show after seeing the reactions online. But damn was I glad to be proven wrong. I think people are so tired of the MCU that they’re looking for flaws where they don’t exist. This show was damn solid.
@Evanz111
Exactly
Not sure if already pointed out but you mention the scene where we only hear what Echo hears - her heartbeat - before she snaps the guy and we hear silence.
I was watching with subtitles and it said “two heartbeats” so it was actually hers and his, overlapping which makes sense why it stops when she kills him.
As a Choctaw, I’m exciting to watch more episodes.
I actually have the latest Biskinik paper in my kitchen right now!
I also love seeing sign language on screen. It’s always so interesting.
I also like how the star(ish) design on her jacket was the same as her dad’s tattoo.
The daredevil fight was awesome
Also looks like kingpin ,and daredevil were both active during the blip because theres no way that fight took place during season 2 since maya's father was already dead.
Agreed! Not to mention that the scene immediately after with Kingpin contradicts "the season 2 placement" leak because he's not in prison.
fight was bullshit, it was slow.. they almost waited to be hit
@@jamiemcaloon5548ok
Are you just commenting this everywhere?
@@darthrevan6713 only said this 3 times in different aberrations.. but if you feel better now, good for you.
@@jamiemcaloon5548 "abberations" lol. You should be embarrassed by your ignorance of the English language. The word is "variations" , genius.
The heartbeat moment is really brutal and well done with her feeling two heartbeats, hers and the guy she's fighting until snaps his spine and it's down to just hers.
Vincent Donofrio is just a gem! He gives it his all
I can't tell you how awesome it was to see Graham Greene in this. Him and John Candy hold a special place in my heart.
Mine too. Loved seeing Graham here as I mentioned above before I read your post. It is always great too see him on screen.
That swirl in the water seems reminiscent of the Tesseract Pool from Kahori’s episode of What If
You left out the best 1 second of action in the entire series. The expression on Maya's face when one of her partners jumped Daredevil and distracted him from the beatdown that Maya was taking. That 1 second of facial expression ALONE is enough for an Oscar. Nothing she was doing was affecting Daredevil. She KNEW she was outmatched and about to go down. The expression on her face was one of sheer panic, desperation, and a resolve to find a weapon very quickly, since she's fully aware that the Daredevil will finish off her partner very quickly and come back to her. That 1 second of facial expression is one of the coolest and funniest things ever. Her partner gave her a little bit of relief from the beatdown she was taking, and she was grateful. :D
I loved the whole show echo. It’s good when a show is about a character and not always like the world is gonna end or something. Echo was a good bingeworthy series
What an awesome series! I just finished the whole thing and it only gets better. There were a couple of mistakes you made with character’s relationships with Maya (the guy from the roller rink is her paternal uncle, and the older couple at the start are her maternal grandparents) but that didn’t really get cleared up until the second episode. I absolutely love how they handle Kingpin in this series, he feels like a real threat in ways recent MCU villains just haven’t. Again not spoiling anything, there’s a stinger at the end of the finale that has me the most hyped for future MCU projects I’ve been in a long time!
Most hyped since shang chi for me
@@jugdar13 phases 1 and 2 really disappointed me other than Iron Man. I consider everything post Endgame the real MCU where everyone is included
@@nailinthefashioneverything was good except Thor 2, Ironman 3 and the first 2 hours of Civil War everything else is good except for she hulk that's cringe I rather watch Thor 4 again
@@andersoncontreras183 Ant Man is objectively worse than Iron Man 3 to me. And She Hulk and Thor 4 both equally make me cringe. I don't think I'll watch either ever again hahahah unless there's a random She Hulk film (as if)
I can't even think of phase 1 or 2 shows I liked haha. Agents of Shield counts I guess? But stuff like I don't know even Marvel Rising blows that out of the water for me.
How can you say you enjoyed Thor 1 honestly? His eyebrows :::://///////
@@nailinthefashion I'm a origins type of person while not completely accurate they bring good tellings of the characters. My favorite movie in the entire MCU is always the first avenger, Suttle and simple steve Roger's a kid with so many health problems has a choice to be "THE SOLDIER" just great to me and the same towards Thor 1 he was a over thousands of years old but never knew a day about struggle the second Odin made him Human it was Genuine emotion something that Thor severely Lacks in the comics. Also I prefer Luke Cage, Daredevil and Punisher were awesome. The first 2 seasons of Jessica Jones were okay meanwhile man with the iron fist vastly underrated 💯
I just watched the whole show and for those wondering I think they did Fisk and Matt for the little screen time they had absolutely perfectly and if they keep this energy going into Daredevil Born Again then I think it's going to be amazing! As for the rest of the show, I absolutely enjoyed it and although it has a mountain of flaws in my opinion specifically with some of the editing and pacing I thought for what the creative team had to work with with a stupid Disney plus limited episode format they did a spectacular job. My biggest criticism is the lack of episodes, which, going forward, Marvel is working on correcting by giving Daredevil 18 and other shows at least 8 or 9. Echo is short and sweet in the best way possible for a TV-MA show. Yes, it's not perfect, but it's nowhere near bad either.
7.5/10
I think it's 7/10 or 6/10 at the lowest.
In my opinion, it’s a 6 out of 10 stars.
For a TV-MA, it’s literally as dark as Falcon and Winter Soldier, which wasn’t even TV-Ma.
I hated the last episode
@@user-ev1yb4jz1b I'm more in that 7/10 range.
@@kindplanet1 personally I thought the rating was appropriate and they didn't go over the top with Gore which was my biggest concern and that's because I was worried they were going to overdo it and try to match the boys with none of the substance but I think what we got felt appropriate and not over the top and while I thought the finale was messy I didn't really mind it that much
It's a solid 8 to me. I wanted a few more episodes and to see her grapple with her ancestry a bit more but I'm glad Fisk and DD didn't take over the narrative. Her adoptive dad is a big role in her life but it's not all she goes thru
The opening really made me think of the recent What If? episode. Perhaps these ancestors/forerunners are the counterpoint to the sky people in What If?
I was thinking the same thing
Wait.. was the actress for Kahhori Bonnie?!
Love this show. Also, can't wait to see the all the original Defenders - Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Daredevil - make a comeback.
What about iron fist
@@letclevespeak3099what about him?
me too
Colleen Wing as Iron Fist + bring back Misty Knight
@@letclevespeak3099 You're right, I can't to see the original defenders Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Daredevil make a comeback
21:48 I super appreciate them incorporating the Choctaw nation in this way. It really makes the episodes feel so textured
When I saw that Graham Greene was in this I immediately thought OK, so this is a HIT! Besides the fact, Vincent D'onofrio automatically guarantees it!! These two don't get out of bed for anything less than a HIT!
Until now.
My favourite parallel that you didn’t mention is when Maya is a kid and her father tells her that she is to focus on school and live a different life than him. Which is what Jack Murdock says to Matt when he says he wants to be a fighter like his father
No spoilers, but I definitely just binged the whole series and I’m really impressed with the acting, writing & fight choreography. I forgot how much I missed binging the old Daredevil series whenever they would drop on Netflix. I will say though that while I understand that the Marvel Spotlight imprint is supposed to be for more mature content, I did miss the Marvel fanfare appearing at the start of each episode. Great series though! I give it an 8.5 out of 10.
Totally agree. Also there's a post credits scene at the end of episode 5 that implies we're far from done with this story!
I agree I definitely really enjoyed this show!
Fight choreography? For the 3 fights in the entire series?
@@F-Society-Mr.Robot- so you genuinely just want more action to pander to your preferences? They shouldn't write what they believe in? Lol
@@nailinthefashion they shouldn’t have been so deceiving in the trailer. And the term pandering when talking about a Disney project is ironic af because all they do is pander to liberals
2 things:
1) On Maya's first mission, when one of Kingpins's hitmen says, "The Kingpin thanks you for your loyalty.," as a signal for the inside man/security guard to kill the other guard and let them in, that's a reference to an oft repeated line from Punisher comics (also Daredevil comics maybe ?) "The Kingpin sends his regards." This is a line said by Kingpin's men right before they kill someone, sort of a personal touch to let them know who ordered their deaths. It's said to Punisher in the comics by killers working for the Kingpin at least twice that I remember in attempts to kill him.
2) Maya's wound is from a bullet, not a stab wound. It's not clear who shot her. I like the idea of bounty hunters working for the Kingpin.
I binged the whole thing, and I'm not sure how I feel about it. No spoilers, but I was expecting one thing and I got something slightly different. The slight difference helps it fit into the MCU better, and maybe sets up some things, I guess, but the reason I was looking forward to what I was expecting was because we hadn't truly seen it in the MCU yet. Basically, from the Hawkeye baseline, they took it one way while I wanted it to go the other.
The way I see it is the Mcu and netflix stuff is still drastically different than one another. Some feeling that whiplash when they saw daredevil in She hulk, but with Echo they are bridging the styles better and so when we get to daredevil while there will be jokes especially if Foggy comes back, it will be like the netflix show again
Just about done with episode 3. I don't know if this will make sense but i love the fact, they wrote a strong character who is female, not a strong female character. Hopefully you understand what i mean. Also another weird statement, i like how each character has their own feel to their sign language. No two characters sign the same way.
That makes total sense. It's like Janeway in Trek, her actress wanted her to be a captain first woman second
I disagree… they promoted this show as being a daredevil tie in and a rated MA show, watched the whole series. More pointless pandering feminist nonsense. She somehow is a better fighter than daredevil, never gets hit, and literally pointed a gun at kingpin 9 different times without ever doing anything. Not sure what the whole point of this show was to be, another placeholder forced cameo of daredevil, which doesnt hold true at all to the character they went with.
@@andrewheath6451tbh i kinda had a feeling it was gonna be like this, havent watched it im hoping youre wrong but if not marvel stays taking L's💀 Daredevil should have been a 45/55 type of thing in the show not just a cameo.
@@idancewithsaibotyeah just watched a bit and he must be talking about the end or something cuz she is not a better fighter and you will clearly see that but no spoilers lol
@@andrewheath6451 NPC noises
I thought it was overall a strong beginning, and gives me hope we'll see the quality of the Netflix Daredevil.
That big fight scene was giving my major The Raid Redemption vibes
The cosmic pool also reminded me of the portal in the first Avengers flick. Also that corkscrew spin through the shelving during the Echo/DD match, so noice!!!
During the fight between maya and daredevil when they’re in the weapons cage, daredevil aboida getting hit by flipping backwards over the table just like in comic books when he dives backwards off of buildings, I really dug that detail
I watched the whole show and I really enjoed it. Vincent D'nofrio's acting as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin was excellent as usual. Alaqua Cox was great as Echo just like she was in Hawkeye.
Just finished this episode pretty solid start really has me hooked for the rest of the show cant see what people meant about pacing issues though. Very excited for the rest of this.
I just finished episode 5. This show was masterfully done! Thank you MARVEL!!!
Also Chafa is played by Julia Jones, who appeared in the Twilight saga and played Omera in The Mandalorian Season 1.
Thoroughly enjoyed the first episode! and I always appreciate the time and dedication your team puts into these breakdowns!
I'm sure you realized this by now, but thats Maya's Grandmother (not aunt). They had mentioned Maya's mother being her daughter multiple times in the episode. Also, (just a download of a thought) could it be possible that beings can be Dimensional without being considered "Alien"(same as the residents of Tao Lao(sp?)). That being said, if we are made from the Earth, even by an extra dimensional alien being, we are still made Of the dirt and clay of the earth, which would mean we are not alien to the planet because we are made of the planets materials and thats like a baby being alien to the mother, so I disagree with the ancient Chocktaw being alien(but this IS based off a comic...sooo who knows). Just my opinion at the end of the day, but hopefully that adds insight or sparks up others electrons to research and look more into the subject. I mean, what do I know, I'm only Human after all.
Them giving the script to the Choctaw to review melted my heart 😢
That whole one take was amazing. And Dare Devil, omg. Yes!!!!
I watched the first 3 episodes and it is awesome. That's what Marvel is about.
Bring it back please!
Thank youuu for giving us individual breakdowns for this show! I was very surprised they dropped it all at once, still not entirely sure how i feel about all that

It's funny that you mention that Kingpin as "street level Thanos", Ryan. According to the reports, that's actually what Marvel intends to do in those exact words. The ending of the Echo series has Kingpin seeing the news in a call for new mayor of New York who's a fighter and since Kingpin is no stranger to violence, he's the perfect candidate in this setting. The presumed storyline for Daredevil Born Again is Kingpin answering this call to action by becoming the mayor of New York despite his previous criminal indictments and outlawing vigilantes targeting Daredevil and the Defenders, and that storyline was going to be finished off in MCU Spider-Man 4. So, you're on the right track.
8:57 Incredible actor! Loved his performance in the Defiance series! 🙏🏽💪
I loved this episode too. Great likeable characters, i new perspective with so many people signing, love seeing them communicate and great action.
"You're totally right, they should definitely bring back Jessica Jones and Luke Cage!"
😂😂
The Iron Fist shade made me chuckle 😂
I was skeptical of this series before I watched it. I have now viewed all 5 episodes and WOW! I loved this series and i.loved what they set up. Well done Marvel
Agreed. This first episode jumped out at a dead run. I can't wait to see the next one.
I loved it, the visuals were amazing

I’ve only watched the first episode, plan on watching the rest asap but I SO HOPE that Maya becomes a HERO !!!! I have a sneaky suspicion that she will lol…, LOVED the first episode, and OF COURSE I LOVED your breakdown Ryan… I love Colton, but I missed you while you were off ❤ I hope everyone at Screecrush had a WONDERFUL Holiday Season 🥰🥳🎄🎉🎊
Not only Graham Greene, but Tantoo Cardinal, who played his wife on Dances with Wolves, again plays his wife Chula
Wow that first episode one-take fight scene was really impressive. Excited to watch the rest.
Thanks for individual episode breakdowns. Much better than lumping them all together.
It helps that he gets more views this way. This is probably the only episode that can stand on its own.
I think you need to slow down an rewatch Episode 1 again. The older lady(60ish person) is her Grandmother not her Aunt, and the older man who ran the pawn shop was her Grandfather. That was a real easy one to miss. Other than that your breakdown was good. I love how in this series they use some of the history of the Choctaw, Just like in the "What If?" series they used the Mohawk Nation some of their history too.
I binged it all and thought it was fantastic. Im happy to hear that you like it so far. Can't wait to see your other 4 on this!
Another great video! Thank you!
So awesome that y’all already have a video out for this ! i very much enjoyed this episode & i haven’t even seen Dare Devil or Hawkeye . Already a fan of the Mature rating content that Marvels doing . You guys are awesome & looking forward to the next couple vids on this show !
Glad to see someone who isn’t seemingly hating on this show cause they came for Daredevil and Kingpin. Echo the show and character are each great . Hoping we get a season 2 of Moon Knight under marvel Spotlight
i just have to mention how hard i cackled when Ryan started reciting Doechii lyrics😭incredible coverage guys
Using the Kiss From a Rose drop for a scene of passion will NEVER get old. Literally makes me lol every time.
Lol, love the hilarious dismissal of Iron Fist, deservingly so too!
It's the worst thing Marvel has made imo
It's great so far. Great tunes and lack thereof. I really appreciate their care to represent who is in this. I really love that Bones song and was thrilled to hear it.
One episode in and I'm really enjoying it! Some great insights here, Ryan. Especially loved the breakdown of the fight scene and sound design. With respect to the opening scene, it reminded me of the "What If...?" episode featuring Kahhori and the underground lake. Perhaps there's a connection? Either in the MCU timeline or just in a Joseph Campbell sense?
Love the vids
100% agree. Some of the best cinematography of any MCU film. Excellent action scene.
Thanks for the breakdown of episode one! I'm really enjoying it and going to take my time watching it. So, I appreciate you separating your videos by episode!
This is easily one of my favorite Marvel Disney plus series. I loved the characters, music, and choreography. I enjoy learning about different cultures and do not get the hate. I really want to see Kingpin interacting with other MCU characters.
I'm more into mutants and magic so I did enjoy it but it didn't make me ugly sob and cheer like WandaVision, Loki or What If.
But the culturrrrrre ugh how refreshing and rich and beautiful! If I can find a screenshot of the pool I'd love to set it as a wallpaper
I was hoping her friend Black Crow was "Jesse Black Crow", the character from the 1980's. He is Henry Black Crow-Lopez though. My mother's maiden name was Black Crow so I was so happy when my cousin found there was a hero named "Black Crow" in Marvel comics.
I enjoyed this episode and thanks for the background information on Echo.
Watched the whole thing last night! Freaking brilliant!! It's by far the best MCU series so far.
I like the new 5 episode format.
What a great video!!! I enjoyed this almost as much as "Echo!" THANKS, Doug and Ryan!!!
I shot forward like 200mph and screamed out of excitement as soon as Daredevil landed, it was so unexpected. Like I knew he was gonna show up, but not in ep 1, not like this. This was awesome!!!
Ryan is the best … watch an episode… then watch a breakdown … well worth it SO IMPRESSED BY BOTH THE BREAKDOWN AND THE EPISODES!!!
Just finished the show, liked how the show is almost a standalone how it gives Maya background and motivation not needing to watch Hawkeye to see how she is. Only one person if you don’t follow marvel is DD cameo
It’s 12:30 CST and I’m 2/3 done with the finally and I have to say I am loving this show and I hope they do the format again
Releasing all episodes at once or at least what if season 2 format
She got shot in the finale of Hawkeye, and when asked later in episode one of Echo "Knife or Bullet" she says Bullet.
Didn’t want to open RUclips until I finished it because some of y’all can’t help yourselves with your thumbnails.
I liked it for the most part. Great idea dropping it all at once.
This show was great! I hope to see Maya in more MCU stories.
good info, thx
I love how Daredevil showed up like a mid level boss in a game lol. The camera pan, the music change. It’s like “okay, you button mashed the goons to death. Here’s a mini boss.”
i really appreciate the one at a time way SC is doing these reviews!
I only just watched Hawkeye for the first time a week ago, not knowing Echo was releasing so soon, so it flows on perfectly. And then starting Daredevil too - already pumped from just the first couple of episodes. But I just can't get enough of Ryan's enthusiasm in this video 😃😃😃 Keep up the amazing work all of you! Your channel rocks! ❤
Ryan and Doug freaking kills me at 24:19 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 “Bring back Jessica Jones and Luke Cage”
I'm so glad you did episode by episode breakdowns
I just find it brilliant how they have managed to tell us the story of when she stops being a girl and becomes a killer by performing her first kill. Once that neck snaps, music changes and so does she.
Just finished the series and I think its pretty good. Its a solid 7/10 for me.
Your videos make these show mean so much more thank you
This show is great. I have to admit that i didnt understand what the beginning was until i watch the Breakdown on friends of the channel. I also dindnt appreciate it until i got all the behind the scenes chat about the respect they showed with making this accurate. That makes the show that much bettet
Also, in the 90's SPIDER-MAN Animated Series, Peter Parker worked for Wilson Fisk for an episode or two.
THE ECHO SIGN LANGUAGE SHIRT IS SO HARD!! Y’all ate with that one
You or your team do the best analysis! I appreciate the depth and details that you provide. Would've loved to have seen your take on Kahhori 's episode from What If?
The best part...
Doug: What about Iron Fist?
Ryan: You're right. Bringing back Jessica Jones and Luke Cage would be amazing.
16:54 Noticed you didn't pick up on the dolly zoom. It was used to widen the field of view as we move further into the room and decompress the space. Super cool subtle camera work!
Please keep it going this series is so good let's get some more breakdowns!!!!
I just ordered my Nelson & Murdock t-shirt from Screencrush!!! 🤗
I already like Maya’s character, and the scenes of her native heritage are amazing, I just finished Episode 2 tho
What a great breakdown, all around.
The initial Chactaw (or however it is written) scene reminded me of 2 things: 1) The lines that rae present everywhere on Eternals Tech. 2) What If, the Kahhori episode, when they have the blue, tesseract infused water. Now, the Tesseract wasn't in America in the main MCU timeline, as far as we know, but I hope the origin of that water will get further elaborated in the future.
Nothing less than incredible in this show. Pleased
I think the reason Daredevil didn't step in yet was he was hoping to see like the boss or someone else come in for this meeting they were having. But Fisk's men and Maya broke everything and every one before that happened
Also worth noting, they mirrored Daredevil in the final scene. The first thing Matt heard after being blinded was the drip of his IV. It's also the first thing Fisk hears when he wakes in his Hospital Room after being blinded.
Refreshing!
