Thank you so much for this review, this was the decisive video for me to decide no to get this lens. Would be possible for you to check out on Kamlan 21mm F1.8? Not so angular, I know, but I've check out so many good comments about Kamlan 28mm, apparently a reasonably good one, that I don't know why there aren't much reviews about the Kamlan 21mm, more closely in angular range to this 17mm.
hi there, thanks for watching. Unfortunately i do not have contact with Kamlan so i do not know how to arrange a review sample for that. But if i have a chance to contact them i'll definitely talk to them about it. :)
I love the TTArtisan. The build quality is solid and the optics are really great for the price point. Great all around wide angle for Astro/Landscape and Architecture shots.
Thanks for the review. As somebody who used both: would you recommend the Laowa 17mm 1.8 or the Artisan 17mm 1.4 Usecase would be travel / street photography on a Lumix GX9
Hi there it's a bit hard to choose. I like Laowa's more compact size for traveling but TTArtisan's slightly faster aperture could be useful when under low light. So I guess it depends on what is more important to you
How does this compare to the Laowa 17mm f1.8? I am considering a manual focus lens of this focal length for MFT. I get the impression that the Laowa is better in many ways, especially with wide open sharpness. What do you think?
@@TheRealRichardWong I thought you reviewed the Laowa 17mm and you might have remembered your impressions of how good it was. I always appreciate your good work with your reviews. Thank you.
Thanks for watching Malcolm! Hey I'm going to visit TTArtisan's HQ next month and will have a chat with their founder, anything you want me to ask them? :)
Muy buena reseña de esta bonita y barata lente. Está camino a mi casa desde Amazon por 148 euros, espero poder disfrutarla en mi Oly OM-D EM10 MII. Muchas gracias Richard. 😉👍🙌
It would. Because using an extension tube increases the focal length and that make the effective aperture smaller as the opening of the lens is unchanged.
Nice review. It is close enough to the pancake 28mm lens on the Nikon ZFc, although the Nikon is FF. I like 28mm for street photography, and it's nice to see a fast prime for apsc for a change.
Sadly, my lens was of very disappointing quality and I sent it back. I don't think that the quality control on this lens was very good as I have seen several comments from folk who were very disappointed with their lenses too.
thanks for watching and your feedback. I've adjusted the background music volume in my latest videos, if you have time, checkout some of my latest videos and see if you think they are better or not :)
I myself actually quite like the design of this lens (compare to other TTartisan lenses). But it seems TTArtisan is still experimenting with the design/look of their lenses
Have you tried any TTArtisan lens before? Is there any of their lens you want me to review? Let me know! :)

I have the trio of TTArtisan lenses 17/35/50mm … like them all. Shoot mostly monochrome.
please make a video on how to partner this lens with Filter. I shoot video with this lens outdoor and its over-exposed. sad
Vs the laowa 17mm which would you choose for image quality

Go glad to hear! Thank you!

I hope TTArtisan send you a copy of the upcoming 23mm to review! I love my 50mm 1.2, and am really looking forward to seeing how the 23mm performs.
hi Matthew, thanks for the suggestion, i'll check with TTArtisan !
Amazing so many cheap and wonderful options for cameras nowadays.
Great review as always Richard. Keep them coming mate. All the best.
Thanks. That's a good review, showing actual technical performance.
Thanks for watching

Unfortunately i don't have the Laowa 17mm with me to compare. Sorry

Perfect timing. I was interested in this lens and this is exactly what I want to see! Thanks 👍
Glad it was helpful William! Thanks for watching!
this is almost the best review i have ever seen for a lens. great review!
Just ALMOST? ;) what can i do to make it THE BEST review? haha Thank you very much Ramy! Glad you enjoy the video
Awesome review! Thats a super cool lens for those artsy shots ;)
Indeed! And very affordable price too
Really beautiful review sir! 🙏❤️
Glad you liked it Liam
Would you say this is a good enough lens to use while saving up for the Sigma 16mm f/1.4?
If you are ok with manual focus
TT Artisans are my favourite MFT lenses, apart from Panasonic Leica lenses.

Thank you for watching, and enjoy!
If you use a fast and short focal distance lens like this with a tube extender, does the f1.4 still apply, or does it effectively change?
It would. Because using an extension tube increases the focal length and that make the effective aperture smaller as the opening of the lens is unchanged.
@@TheRealRichardWong ok thanks!

Thanks Barry! I still haven't get a chance to try the new 28mm Z lens yet, would love to try that out with the Zfc
Very affordable lens 😊
indeed thanks for watching :D

thanks for watching! :)
TTARTISAN needs bring the click-less aperture for video. These lenses are killer for video, but the clicky aperture sucks.
Love the video but the background music is too loud.
thanks for watching and your feedback. I've adjusted the background music volume in my latest videos, if you have time, checkout some of my latest videos and see if you think they are better or not :)
I know it's superficial but I wish their lenses weren't so hideous looking.
