@@JC-ECUConnectionHi Mate, excellent video shows all the same issues I’m getting, where do I start with this? What is the first step to do? Any help would be appreciated
@@FreePalestine11. Hi & thanks for watching - firstly to confirm the fault is your airbag ECU, plug in a diagnostic tool & check if you have communication with the airbag ECU, if you don’t then check the fuses, if these are ok then it’s most probably the airbag ECU. Remove the module & post it to us for test & repair! Details can be found on our website: ecuconnection.co.uk/product-category/services/?filter_car-model=500&filter_type=airbag-ecu&filter_car-make=fiat
We took a 500L partX. We fitted a used ecu kit for the previous owner as the engine ecu had a fault. There was only 1 difference the kit came from a car with a knee airbag and this car doesn't have one. With the full kit fitted the airbag light was on and only fault was knee airbag. With the original airbag module fitted no faults but flashing mileage and wouldn't proxi align. It's been running fine this way for some time now it needs fixing before we sell it on again.
That’s the problem with fitting an ECU kit!.. it would of been MUCH better to have replaced just the faulty engine ECU, this could of been easily cloned from your original ECU or virginised.. if you still have the original kit then I would advise you put it all back to original & fix it by doing this.. if you have thrown the original kit away then you’ve made a big mistake!!
@@JC-ECUConnection we have still got the original bits that was my thoughts from the start it wasn't my call then though. Can you do the engine ecu repair

So what actually fails & why? Is it a water ingress issue? I noticed on your car there looked like evidence of a leak on the bulkhead just ahead of the heater matrix ?
No, not water ingress on these units - component failure of various items on the PCB, usually due to voltage spikes - flat batteries & jump starts but often they just fail!
@@JC-ECUConnection I see. Mine didn't coincide with any event like jump starting or low battery, it just suddenly decided it was faulty, mid running cycle, & that was that. So expensive for what they are too, so I`m just running with no air bags now.
I have stop start unavailable and fuel cut off unavailable. No other warning lights as you have in the video. I have connected a obd 2 scanner, no faults found. Do you think it could be same problem as in the video? Many thanks
If you are using an OBD2 scanner I assume you are only reading faults from the Engine control module, you will need to use a Diag tool that scans ALL the control modules on the car at manufacturer level & not just the ECM at OBD2 level, particularly check for comms with the Airbag control module..
Hi, thanks for watching & your comment - Yes you can buy a secondhand unit although they can be hard to find & you need to find the same part number, then you will need to program it to your car either by ‘Proxi aligning’ by OBD (Providing the unit does not have crash data stored) - If you don’t have equipment for proxi aligning & crash data removal we also offer a cloning service for these units, for more info visit us at: www.ecuconnection.co.uk

@@TheCybercrash if you do not have comms with the airbag ECU, first check fuses & power supply to ECU, if all checks out then you can send it to us for test & repair..
Hi & thanks for watching!.. it’s not essential to clear the fault codes after repair as the warning light will only illuminate if the stored fault codes are ‘Live’ & not ‘Stored’. When we bench test these units they are powered up without having all the components connected so there will be fault codes stored when it is returned to you, it’s bad practice if you or your garage doesn’t clear the fault code after repairs (As with all repairs) - this is because if in the future you have a problem with your car the uncleared fault codes will be misleading later down the line!

A non communicating airbag ECU doesn’t stop the car from starting, you can try the emergency start routine - This involves a sequence of turning the indicators on from side to side, it will explain how in your handbook or Google it. - If this works then it would appear that you have a crash error logged, next step is to get the fat scanned with a Diag tool…
