  • Come tour this Red Sea Reefer Peninsula reef tank that is on display at the entrance of Mizu; a local business that installs and services automatic pool covers. Should I convince the owner to add corals? It may require removing a fish or two...and changing a few other things...

    Is that the old p650? I have the same one, but I feel like the cabinet is not strong enough. Your thoughts on this?

      Hey there, yes this is the old p650. Cabinet seems fine, although there are quite few horror stories of this particular tank leaking at the seams. This one seems to be fine though. What’s up with your stand? Is there a little bit of wobble?

      @@zburnreefing well it was moved after 5 years, during reassembling the cabinet I noticed a lot of the screw parts were deformed. Then I found out there is a retrofit kit to support the center. So now I´m thinking about adding an aluminium frame to the cabinet somehow

    Seems crazy to me that a tank so minimally stocked would need to carbon dose to keep nitrates/phosphates down

      @zburnreefing  Год назад +1

      Yea, good observation. I think there was more livestock in recent times but a few losses just occurred, so tank isn’t quite stocked like normally. I think the group maintaining the tank also want to keep the glass as clean as possible for as long as possible since this tank is in the entrance of a business - so perhaps being a little overly aggressive. :)

    UV is mounted incorrectly. It probably works 40% to it's capability

    • @zburnreefing
      @zburnreefing  Год назад +1

      Agreed…I can see how it’s positioned for easy bulb changes, but with its current orientation and output direction, that UV bulb and sleeve aren’t going to be fully surrounded by water.

      @@sylvester7800 I didn’t take your message in any negative way, appreciate you mentioning it. I actually overlooked that and will let the owner know.

    The Nero 5 can mount on 19mm glass?

    • @zburnreefing
      @zburnreefing  Год назад

      Hey there, not normally. If you bought 2nd gen in 2020 you can get by with 1/2 glass. The lfs that maintains this tank used their own custom dry side magnet source on outside that is supposedly stronger from what the owner said.

    • @zburnreefing
      @zburnreefing  Год назад +1

      And to be fair, I am not sure how thick the overflow really is…it sounds like they used magnets from another pump manufacturer…I’ll inspect it further next time I visit. Ill look down in the overflow to see if I can make out what they are using.

    too much carbon dosing out there eh. with no corals?

    • @zburnreefing
      @zburnreefing  Год назад

      Yea, it’s a little odd now that you mention it. To be fair I didn’t look to see if dosing was active or not. Will inquire with the owner to see if I can get any additional insights on it.

      @@zburnreefing he got like carbon dosing redundancy, nopox and biopellets, interesting, looks like the owner is trying to put more foods for benificial bacteria.
