Here's a run down of my Red Sea Reefer Peninsula 500 from setup right through to where it is now, 7 months in. With details of all the successes and failures I've had.

I have that same cube storage box you have. The one next to the brick wall. I got that thing at ikea like over 20 years ago. I have never seen another one. It was called HOL. I remember that much.

Peninsula makes absolute sense to me. Weir is out of the way against a wall you cant peer through. Then its a case of uninterrupted real estate to play with. Good choice! I'm still hunting for a peninsula that's 72x30x24 or one with a coast to coast built in sump (Hmmm)

Beautiful tank. I like the wallpaper in the back too.
I used chemical clean and it wiped everything even coral. Then... mystically coral started popping up again.

Great tank; it looks like your patience is paying off. How have the longnose and flame hawkfish gotten along, any problems?
Thanks! They've been together since July and seem fine. Every now and then they sit next to each other but they tend to prefer their own company. I haven't seen any aggression so far.
Not personally a fan of wrasses but excellent looking tank!
P.S ever considered a humphead wrasse? xD

Ha. Same thing happened to my anemone shrimp. He showed up one day missing both claws and one leg. He molted and all limbs were accounted for. Then one day poof. Gone. I think my tiger shrimp my have clicked him. I’ve seen him shoot at him before with no I’ll affects but...

I want one of these tanks but the 5-6 K upfront price before water or live rock is in the tank is just to high

Do you have any problems not having a cover?
I do have a cover - I just take it off for filming so the tank looks better. I wouldn't be without a cover - ALL fish are potential flight risks as far as i'm concerned! Here's the cover I have - ruclips.net/video/-Co5C6RL43w/видео.html

Unless your water quality is spot on, they can look really dull. And they grow fast so can take over. Just a personal preference though 🙂

What kind of substrate are you using??
ATI Fiji white sand - a mix of medium and large grain although in hindsight I'd go all medium grain as it still doesn't blow around.

You don't need one with any tank but they're awesome to have for the most part 🙂

How do you make that stand wave in your tank behind you? I have 2 mp40s on my red sea 250 and want to do it.
Not sure what you mean? Do you mean how do the MP40QDs create a wave? Set them to short pulse mode 🙂
@@ReefDork Ive tried short pulse with both powerheads at 75% power, and it did nothing but agitate the water. What im asking is how do i make waves like in your tank?
@@ryandraper456 it's got to be coming from one side only - have you tried anti sync with short pulse? That's all I do 🤷♂️

Where do you tend to source your livestock/coral from?
A few select shops in the south east of England but a lot from fellow hobbyists 🙂

Taylor's Marine Room in Portsmouth is the closest to you I know of that's decent. Reefdreams in Winchester is well worth the trip, as is AAC in Harlow 👍

What’s the light you’re running ?
It's a Giesemann Stellar T5 hybrid with a Kessil AP700... and a Radion xr15.

I think you should have removed that tacky wallpaper before placing the tank in that space. It clashes with the sea theme.

@@anthonymcdonough6629 ah yeah - no, that's definitely the one spot. Changed colour quite significantly now though so looking back at this I see what you mean!

Hate the wallpaper. Peninsula tank is more of a center piece not close to back wall. Never dose directly to main display.

Not enough fish! Stocking fish is about swimming space, nutrients and aggression. If they're all fine, you're good 👍

I'm only joking - I wouldn't ever want that of course. If he reappeared, I would have taken him back to my LFS. I try to keep my videos light-hearted and I hope that comes across. Watch it back now - I promise you'll hear the jest in my voice 🙂
