    Hey Mr. Anderson, the best way I’ve found to lube the axle shaft U-joints is to jack up the front end and turn steering wheel all the way to one side and you’re able to access the U-joint on the opposite side from the back side of the axle (turn left, access right). Then rotate the tire until you’re able to see the grease zerk. Pump it full, turn the wheel the opposite direction and grease the other side. It’s not bad at all and makes it so you can service everything.

      I have done this once before... I guess I am getting old and fat, and have a hard time getting to those zerks. I was really happy to have had it apart where it was easy to get to.

    Your microwave popcorn is done....AGAIN! You can access the front axle u joint zerks by turning the steering wheel hard left or right and by having your wheels rotated so the zerk is pointed to the front or rear of the vehicle. I just greased mine again 2 days ago...

      Popcorn? Oh, that is the solvent washer. I almost forgot about that, I heard it so much.
      Yes, indeed... the zerks are reachable, they are just a rear bear to get to. Everything, including the moon and stars must be aligned in order to reach it (it seems like).

      You gave me that idea while I was still editing this video.... so, technically, you kinda were asking me to do it. Perhaps even daring me?

    What type of tire are people running with the speed increase?

    • @HelicoolsHelipad
      @HelicoolsHelipad  4 месяца назад

      Goodyears. I don't drive it over 60 MPH even if I could.

    Question for Dave. With a improved 3.07 gear ratio what kind of speed do you think you’re gonna achieve down the interstate highway?

    • @HelicoolsHelipad
      @HelicoolsHelipad  2 года назад

      25% more than the speedometer shows, until you adjust the dip switches. For me, I travel about 60 MPH, now.

    • @MrMikey4026
      @MrMikey4026 2 года назад +2

      It should be about 72 MPH, probably not wise to go that fast.

      @@gregsnyder4496 there are no driver controlled lockers available. Gears are available through Memphis Equipment. They also sell through eBay.

      Yep, major parts removal just to get the axle shafts out of the pinion so it can be removed and replaced with the upgraded 3.07 gears. It really was not that bad... once Mike showed me what to do on the first side, I had the other side taken apart in about 40 minutes.
