I never think of CAT when I think of forklifts… BULLDOZER?? Mototgrader? Front loader?? Mining trucks?? Absolutely. Forklifts are one of their outsourced afterthoughts.
Not knocking the video, it was good. But when I heard that "Caterpillar is best know for forklifts" I almost spit out my coffee and I wasn't drinking any.
Get the after market high speed gears, also you can get an air-conditioning unit put in. Those are the first two mods people get useually. Ive been checking these out thinking of getting one. Thanks for the review zach.😊
FMTVs are cool. Not really that great for public roads but still cool. Because most of the parts are commercial parts they're easier to maintain than the old deuce and a half M35 and 5-ton M939. I've heard that the AWD transfer case has issues though. If you push the mode button on the shifter it will change the transfer case from 30-70 to 50-50. One of these would be awesome in snow. No park is common on commercial vehicles. The parking pawl wouldn't be strong enough to hold it. The air parking brake button dumps the air out of the lines and locks all four wheels. You can get these for fairly cheap in good condition with relatively low miles. The box bodies are common to convert into off-road RVs. Because of the reasonable size and maintenance it's easier to daily drive than the older trucks. You've got to try to find an M939 and an M35A2 and a Unimog for comparison.
I ran the site and logistics at Fort Bragg, NC for the 3 year test of the FMTV. Had some issues to start but we thought the truck was amazing compared to the old fleet that had barely changed in 3-4 decades. We also did the LAPES and Air Drop testing.
Andrew Caramata (You Tube) owns one, and he's not too impressed with it's Hill climbing ability as he states that only the left rear wheel has power to it!
"sweet stack exhaust" shows the snorkel. I don't think I trust this guy to review a truck if he can't work out the difference between an intake and exhaust
I’m eventually going to buy one once I get my pickup truck atv and camper and get them paid for then I will only be paying low insurance on the truck and camper so buying diesel for an lmtv won’t be a problem because I’ll have a lot of money because I live with my mom and eventually I’ll inherit the house people make fun of guys like me for still living with their mom but they don’t see the advantage of it you don’t have a house payment only cheap room and board but in my case I don’t have to pay room and board because I buy a lot of the groceries and pay a few small bills but I’m eventually getting an lmtv and I will daily drive it on the weekends and if I can drive it to work it will definitely turn heads at least you don’t have to worry about anyone japping you because nobody is probably stupid enough to risk getting run over buy it and if a hurricane hits and my town gets flooded again the Red Cross can commission me to rescue people and when I take my atv to the mud hole I can put it in the mud pit without having to worry about wrecking it because it so durable and because it’s surplus you can take it to a military base to get it serviced and pay little to nothing to service it what an awesome beast I can’t wait to get mine
Zack; the black stack behind the cab is a snorkel air intake. the exhaust is a side discharge underneath the bed on the driver side
One moment he reviewing a basic Chevy, next minuet a full blown military truck. I love this guy. :D

what you described as the stack exhaust is the air intake. the exhaust can be seen halfway to the rear tyre

Yeah that was easily the dumbest thing I heard on youtube in a while and I was watching the whatever podcast just before this.

2:11 Known for way more than that, Cat is pretty major my guy😂

Do you think an army 5 ton is more reliable than the Stewart? Because you can shift in and out of all-wheel drive with the old trucks.

Thank you for your service!
8:51 isn't that the intake?, The exhaust is in front of the rear left wheel
I have to admit, that is definitely one awesome and rugged military truck!
As always, I really enjoyed the review so much, Zack.^^
Andrew Caramata (You Tube) owns one, and he's not too impressed with it's Hill climbing ability as he states that only the left rear wheel has power to it!

That no park gear thing is common in semi trucks, school buses, delivery trucks, and other heavy trucks
Excellent content.....cool truck!
That truck make you look tiny! The BFB test was not done properly. In the case of this truck, the BFB would be a projectile toward an enemy!
Zach you should have bought a plastic miltary helment from a custume for this revew.
And put one of your stickers on the helment.
Dude I just noticed the subscriber count wtf?! I still remember when you were around 10k, this is crazy!
what its highway/freeway cruise speeds? how fast can you go without over revving the engine.
Pretty cool truck. Would have been nice to have them available here in southern Africa.
Cat is best known for forklifts?? Not bulldozers or a long long line of heave equipment?
It cringes me your not wearing your Kevlar or helmet.besodes that love the video man ❤
the sweet stack exhaust is the air intake.
Andrew Camarata sure likes his.
Do some time in the service, You get to drive the big boys.
What camera/settings are you using?

the CAT comment made me sad...
a bit cringe
I would want one, but it failed the Big Friggin Bottle test, so...HARD PASS!
Is this truck for sale and if so what is the price
I don't think that anyone buying one of these is concerned about how easy it is to get in. 😂
I cant get over the fact that you aren't wearing body armor or a helmet to drive that guy. It's a great truck, but I prefer the deuce and a half.
LOL "It engages your senses".
5 mpg thats it a 6x6 m35a2 deuce gets more than that
Yea I can get 10-12 in mines, sometimes if I'm really soft, I can get a little more
Cat is not known for forklifts 🤣 they are known for large construction equipment like dozers and trackhoes
Sir that is the air intake not the exhaust stack
I WANNA BUY THIS!
0:23 - Thank you so much for pronouncing it "die-seul" instead of "die-zull" Zack.
I can't even watch these videos the lmtv is my dream truck
Holy cow! This is amazing
Sweet stack exhaust? 🤣
That’s not the exhaust, it’s the air intake.
Tatra T-810 the best
Catapillar is best know for construction equipment..... not forklifts. Not at all. Construction equipment.
How much?
😂
the LMTV suck in snow!
And the mud!
