This is why I've always liked Michael's story the best. People are too quick to see this scene as "haha funny man on drug fly in sky". This scene is actually genius, in my opinion, this song represents the start of the lowest point in Michael's life. The juxtaposition between the depressing tone of the scene and the music actually makes it even more emotional. The voices of Michael and his family and others berating him in his mind for everything he's done, it shows how damaged he really is, and that he genuinely feels bad for everything that he has done. Michael really doesn't want to be a bad guy, yet he is the character in GTA 5 that really loses the most. He has literally everything he cares stripped away from him and watching him work to get back what he lost is why his story is so damn good and my favorites out of the three characters.
@@THERhythmCatalyst clearly Michael was the reason why Amanda started to cheat with her tennis coach since he cheated with the stripper. Not that Amanda did a good job since she fucked with him at her house which could influence the kids in a wrong way, but Michael is a cheater indeed.

"What do you want, Michael?" It hits deeper than you think, because these days people aren't sure what they want. You could buy some people the moon but they'd still be unhappy or want more to fill some hole. Maybe this is why this scene reminded me of Niko, because Roman told him to look for fulfillment elsewhere if you kill Darko, where Niko will say he doesn't feel better, and in fact feels empty despite a 10-year vengeance mission, thinking this would fill the hole in his life. Roman may be a total goof, but I really wish more people were like him -- boundlessly optimistic, able to pick up the pieces after disaster, cries through his sorrows at the moment they happen, willing to show this to anyone, and wise enough to know violence and revenge is a dark path. Roman wants more as well, but that's chiefly due to gambling addiction. He loves America, he loves the opportunity to be anything, and he's willing to work hard, even when he wants to look for shortcuts. Michael worked hard to get out of the life as well, but it took a horrible turn. It made his family entitled, though he himself can be quite narcissistic at points. It's complicated. And people in general are complicated. Want, want, want. Never need, need, need. Minus the gambling addiction, I feel Roman's personality is ideal. He's hedonistic, but he has values. Nobody's perfect, but between GTA IV and V, the theme is greed and underdogs in a rapidly changing world. It's okay to want, but it's important to remember needs. Michael wants his family to be unrealistically ideal, and seems to have given up when this goal can't be achieved, whereas Roman would continue to work at his goals, even in his own goofy ways. I remember playing this mission when I was 13, not thinking it was any big deal. I’m 19 now and went back to play the story for good times. When I played this mission now, I can now understand Michaels trip, and everything that’s going on around. This part of the mission hit me different. GTA5 will always have an amazing story, you’ve just got to understand the meanings and character motivations to enjoy the story just that little bit more :). Can’t wait for GTA 6
Now you are understanding the story I recommend playing the other GTA's if you haven't already. By that I really mean Vice City and San Andreas. Ignore the gameplay lol. Rockstar are great for stories.
When I replayed this at 26 after playing it in freshman year college I cried during this scene. It was so east to see how everyone always believes they are the good guy. And me playing as Michael felt like Michael was the good guy. But all the shit he did to people that’s highlighted makes you realize everyone is good is their own eyes
I unfortunately never got to play this masterpiece when it came out. I’m experiencing the story for the first time as of the last month and this mission is wild.
this is my favorite moment in this game because of how Michael is forced to trip balls but also see the truth of everything he has done when i saw this for the first time i was blown away ir hits me in the feels everytime because i can relate to him in a way
I remember back when I played the game, after Michael was drugged, I thought it would just be a black screen and then the game would continue normally. Fortunately, I was wrong and it came to this masterpiece. I love the music coupled with the dramatic aspect and the voices in the background that highlight Michael's tragic character.

Hey Vsuace, Michael here!
Ahmed Alali ?
I love this song
When this song comes on the radio I make sure I dont leave my car.
Anyone else comes back to this video when they’re going through tough times and can relate to Michael
Go to Jesus!!!
powerful scene, Michael reflecting on his thoughts to peaceful, deep music, makes me cry the great writing for his character alone
One of the greatest and most beautiful moments in gaming history
that "What do you want, michael? , bro i love that jajsad
I always thought I was the good guy :'((
One of my favourite games ever and mission
I love the mission called: reuniting the family
Watching this high made realize that I have been high my entire life I just didn't know that
The most eye opening scene... ever
Gta 6 is confirmed now
Now you are understanding the story I recommend playing the other GTA's if you haven't already.
But all the shit he did to people that’s highlighted makes you realize everyone is good is their own eyes
that's crazyyyy! i was thirteen and i'm 19 now and i just played this part but i wanted to show my brother it. it all makes sense now ):
I literally just played this as a 17 year old compared to back when I played it when I was like 13 and it's crazy.
I smoke weed once and never came back to the ground. I'm still high.
finished?
Everybody who love Michael = like
Who is in 2024?
I love songs that long after the actual lyrics is done they just let the instrumental play and die itself out...that shit makes it more epic.. :)
Agreed, man!
As a man living with C-PTSD this song really pulls up some majorly self reflecting thoughts and I never know whether I love it or am terrified of it
did you just mention BTS
I unfortunately never got to play this masterpiece when it came out. I’m experiencing the story for the first time as of the last month and this mission is wild.
hope you enjoy the game
Replaying it now, forgot about so much! Too good
As someone who’s replayed the story multiple times it truly is amazing. I love the other gta games but I for most think GTA V had the best writing.
Don't feel bad. I waited until 2016 before I played it.

This isn't exactly soundtrack, but the song they used is called "Shine a Light", a remix by Flight Facilities and The C90s
This is a really cool scene. The melancholic vibe and sense of self-reflection really tie it together.
this is my favorite moment in this game because of how Michael is forced to trip balls but also see the truth of everything he has done when i saw this for the first time i was blown away ir hits me in the feels everytime because i can relate to him in a way
I remember back when I played the game, after Michael was drugged, I thought it would just be a black screen and then the game would continue normally. Fortunately, I was wrong and it came to this masterpiece. I love the music coupled with the dramatic aspect and the voices in the background that highlight Michael's tragic character.
I remember playing this mission when I was 14, I'm almost 21 now and i always come back to this mission. One of the best songs imo from the game. Just a whole vibe in general
Frfr
I loved GTA's story so much I played it 14 times, I'm too emotionally attached to all the characters.
Evidently, when Michael screams here, and everyone talks in the background, it's way more relaxing.
this brings back so many memories
hope they keep doing weird stuff like this in gta 6
