  • People love the look of the granny blanket, but don't like the big holes that the pattern produces, especially for baby blankets. Using the block stitch, you can have the look of the granny, without the gaping holes in the fabric.
    This video shows you how to make the square. Stop where the pattern states if following the pattern. The article gives details on the border as well.
    For this design, I used Bernat Super Value yarn in Magenta, Yellow, Soft Grey, White and Baby Pink. I had plenty of extra to make the matching Modern Baby Lovey.

    I have recently found the crochet crowd I can't tell you how much you've taught me. My grandma taught me a little when I was around 10 years old. I went the knitting way. I think I was looking at patterns on yarnsperation and came upon more crochet patterns that I liked. Then there was you. So happy for that. Last week was the first live video, I laughed my ass off. I saw a new one was on today and I watched the whole thing ( quite amusing ) I think the ones who have nothing better to do then to watch so that they can criticize need a new life. Thanks for teaching me so much about crocheting. I think of my grandma's when I crochet.

    Thank you Jeanne. I guess I was hoping there was an answer that would help me feel more assured, like maybe the thicker the yarn, the safer it is. I've seen so many beautiful baby afghans and blankets I would love to crochet and I love granny squares.

    Hi there, I know this is an old pattern but I want to give it a try. My question is; the first square will be the only square I complete if I use the join as I go method? Also, could I make it continuous by keep going around making one large blanket? I really enjoy your tutorials.

    At 30:14, I thought the pink round of double crochets in the picture would be equal to the green that you did in the video. Which means there would be a total of 5 rounds added to it. 💁🏻

    I want to make a bedspread using these squares but using #3 cotton thread. Can I just keep going to make the squares larger? I need something that I can take on trips without bringing the whole king size spread and just join later.

    Hey Mikey..
    Check out Joining with a v stitch by Lenysea....it is a continuous join as you go...no fastening off from start to finish...I am going to try and do same method to join my modern granny squares as you have done...but using her continuous method...thinking your followers might enjoy this method too....I really enjoyed the continuous process when I used it ....love your work ...

    I have a question. I had heard years ago that crochet baby blankets are very dangerous for babies, that babies can get their fingers and toes caught up in them, Is this true?

    • @TheCrochetCrowd
      @TheCrochetCrowd  7 лет назад +8

      I used crocheted blankets when my son was a baby with no problems. But my baby granddaughter ended up in the er because a hair got wrapped around her toe to the point it swelled up. My point is, you never know about anything with babies and just have to use care with anything you have near them. ~ Jeanne
