My parents were friends with Prince. I met him a few times, he was a good dude. Shy, reserved, quiet yet gracious and generous. We got to go to Paisley Park for some private jam sessions that usually started after Midnight.

Prince was king of funk and every sound he made was exceptional unique. He did not need to promote his music or who he was. He was so far advanced he was not going to disappear and be forgotten
I'm very glad that I saw the careers of Prince, Bowie, MJ and Whitney. Some super talented folks gave us great music.

"You're famous, you have a responsibility." Nope. His responsibility was to make music. Princes inclusivity is why he's so respected. He was all the about the music, not about the recognition. He wasn't in the news with drama, none really spoke poorly of him, all they could do is talk about his music, and that's the way a true artist shpuld be known for and remembered as.

No lie. Prince was a whole mood, and I lived and breathed in it. He was the soundtrack of my rebellious "Don't put me in a category box because of my skin color" life. I loved all kinds of music, fashion and bold creativity....everything he was.
I describe him as a singularity. So many variables, like a momentarily flare of brilliance in the sweep of time. Hopefully he is enjoying the afterworld, where u can always see the Sun. Day. Or night.

I'm glad I grew up listening to him. I also had no business hearing some of his lyrics that I didn't understand until later, but whatever, it was the 80's! Lol. This made me emotional though, ugh. I'm so upset still. Just out of nowhere 💜

In MN, folks were pulled over their cars on the highway crying, when the news broke on the radio. It was a surreal sight. Banners appeared on bridges, overpasses, etc.
