For everyone is extremely confused, keep in mind that this list applies to the United States. Across the whole world, Michael Jackson is #3, and Garth Brooks isn't even in the top 10. Country music artists often only see success in United States (especially the Western part), which is why many European viewers probably wouldn't recognize Garth Brooks.
But Garth Brooks is #18 globally. It shows you just how powerful the US market is for music and entertainment. A lot of people haven't even heard of him, and he's still in the top 20 globally.

It might seems odd but if you think about it, it makes perfect sense. Yes he was the most famous person ever but he wasn’t prolific. He has 6 studio albums 5 of which are in the top 200 best selling albums of all time. But that’s it, the rest on the list has 3x to 6x more albums released. Per example The Beatles has 12 studio albums (13 in the US) and have 3 albums on the top 200 best selling albums. Anyway the rest on the list are also great artists who gave wonderful music to the fans.
Did you take note of the criteria used? It is US sales only and not global and Garth has made more individual albums than Michael, even if Michael has the biggest selling individual album from the two of them.

yes but you have to understand The Beatles had been around since the 60's, theyve had more time than anyone else to accumulate sales
It might seems odd but if you think about it, it makes perfect sense. Yes he was the most famous person ever but he wasn’t prolific. He has 6 studio albums 5 of which are in the top 200 best selling albums of all time. But that’s it, the rest on the list has 3x to 6x more albums released. Per example The Beatles has 12 studio albums (13 in the US) and have 3 albums on the top 200 best selling albums. Anyway the rest on the list are also great artists who gave wonderful music to the fans.
