I laughed out loud when I saw the nightstand drawer in your cart. I have seen fights over 1st rights. I always grab a cushion or drawer to prevent someone else from taking an item. I do the same when purchasing on FB Marketplace or a curb/trash pickup. I gut the item and send the movers back for the shell.
Haha I love that you caught that!!! The staff was so busy I couldn’t flag someone down so I figured no one would want to buy a dresser with a missing drawer 🤷🏻♀️😂
One of my most favorite things about you and your channel is your desire to constantly learn! I love that you travel not to just travel and sightsee, but you go to learn. You’re fabulous Laura and thank you for this video ❤ it is really great!
That was so wonderful of you to fix the vase. I love wabi sabi! My son in law is into Japanese culture and taught me about it. You have THE Best Style and vision!!
My vote is everything light and bright. For the first time I framed all my art, I did them in black frames, and I am loving it! There is something so classy about them all one color, it creates in my opinion almost like a texture to the walls as well as the beautiful picture’s to look at when you get up close. You have amazing taste, so I am sure you will make it gorgeous whatever you choose. 😊
You are such an inspiration! The chance u took to build your business and to trust your great eye for things. It seems like you are truly living the dream!
I think if you do dark paint on the walls all the frames should be light. You will have the dark from your walls showing around the frames. However, you should do what YOU want in your home!😊❤
Thank you! It’s kinda fun knowing I never invested more than what profits I made off that first $200 and then just kept working hard and reinvesting! So appreciate your support! ❤️
You always find great things and style them beautifully. I would liked to have seen all the jewellery laid out. 😍 After you clean the stain off the frames, to make them look even nicer, I would use Rustoleum white wax on the frames. Brush on with a round brush, and wipe back. The dresser looks amazing. Can't wait to see your Japan trip video. They make such beautiful things too. 👍😁🌺
I especially like the light oak and cream frames. They’ll look cohesive all throughout the basement/den. Against the dark walls you’ll get the “pop” you want
I would use light frames but alternate the colour of the mounts. Amazing results once you got rid of that varnish. The chest of drawers is lovely. I love the colour
The dresser was the best find of the day. I love the frame idea. I prefer the black mat but without seeing it on the wall, I am uncertain. You choose, your house and your style are awesome, it will be great.
I liked the bright framed picture design. If your going a charcoal wall color stay lighter colors with your pictures. Try a bit lighter wall color then do the black matting with the blonde frame. I like a lighter wall color in basements.
Great job on the frames! Fascinating process, to see what’s under there! I used to work for the company that makes Klean Strip about 30 years ago. We all joked about never drinking the water from the water fountain. I worked in the office, but you could smell the chemicals coming from the plant all day.
We have a lot of family photos (covering several generations) and I love seeing them every day. So many people who visit us comment on them. Your groupings will be awesome.
Ooooo--you found some vintage Laurel Burch earrings! The little silver birds, I have those in my collection of Laurel Burch jewelry that started out in the early 1980s. Great find! Also, I would say an eclectic mix of frame colors/matting in the lighter wood/cream and black frames and black matting--but I would mix it up, too…what would cream matting look like inthe black frames and/or black matting in the light wood tone? Plus with your huge gallery wall of photos I would also add a few items that break up all of the frames. It’s going to be sooo good! 🌸
Hello, make sure you come the first weekend in October to Las Vegas. Go to Boulder City, Nv (1/2 hour drive). Boulder City has so many Antique/thrift shops plus this is also the weekend of Art in the Park (a craft/antique/art festival for free). This little town comes alive with festivities, people and thrifting. It’s a wonderful weekend. Bring a van to transport your new treasures!
So many thoughts on this one today! 1) I love it when you show how you clean up and restore the items you buy. Thank you for including that bit! 2) Looking forward to seeing how you do the kintsugi. I have a broken piece of pottery I’ve been wanting try repairing using that technique. 3) Can’t wait to see your Japan videos! We went in June 2023 as a graduation present for my son and it was an amazing experience. My kids still talk about it constantly! 4) My favorite was actually the gossamer-sleeved sweater that you picked up - so cute! 5) Christi and I would love to join you for some thrifting adventures the next time you are in Vancouver! 😁
Japan was unbelievable! We had the most amazing time there 🥰 Haha Jesse wants to move there! I can see why your kids still talk about it. I haven’t done the Kintsugi yet but I bought a whole kit in Kyoto and can’t wait to test it out on a few pieces I have set aside (and the one in today’s video!) I’ll make sure to post a video on it as soon as I do it 😁
