This multiplication I recently found when I searched for getting Li-ion batteries in air travel. Only 100 watts allowed. So we can bring a max 20V 5Ah used in power tools like DeWalt.
Whenever electricity is generated, it is based on the magnetic induction principle. Moving magnet and stationary coil ( generally but reverse also will generate electricity). The current do produced will be alternative in nature always. This is ac current. In order to transmit this you can increase the voltage using transformer for long distance transmission to reduce transmission losses. Almost all the appliances were designed for ac. Filament bulbs, fridges, mixers, tube lights, water motors etc. Modern day appliances like computers, laptops etc.are the product of electronic gadgets application and do are based on DC power. To have freedom from always connected to mains, they have battery back ups. The revolution in battery technology is tremendous. Don't forget High Voltage DC transmission is more efficient and stable and is being increasingly preferred. Supporting equipments make it cost effective only for above certain power transfer. Kindly come out of the road example as it uses too many independent variables.
While doing DC Transmission it's not 100% Effecient. For example. You transfer 100V DC to 100 meter distance. There will be a voltage drop on each distance. Which means the transmission losses will appear in DC. That's y the Edison's DC Power Plants are possible by every 25KMs in a each City. That's is his major business on that period. Electricity can possible by only rich people's. But after the AC Transmission revolution by Tesla. Electricity is very reliable for all the people's.

Power loss/generated = IxIxR means currentXcurrentXresistance. The main idea to transmit the power generated over a long distance is to decrease the current flowing through the (grid) cable. Only in AC we can step-up and step-down the voltage. Assuming that the resistance of the grid cable is just 1 ohm per kilometer and 10amps current flows through it, the power loss will be 10X10X1=100watts. if you decrease the current to 1/10th i.e 1 amp, the power loss will be 1X1X1= 1 watt. As said in the video power is the product of volt and current. P=V x I. If 100mega watt power is generated in a power station and it is transmitted to 100 kms distance. the power loss in the transmission line depends only on the current flow irrespective of voltage. So using a transformer the voltage has been raised by about 1500 times (330000 volt) and thus reducing the current flow by 1500 times and reducing the power loss by about 1500 X 1500 = 2250000 times. This is the prime reason and the size of the cable and cost and the poles are secondary. Practically the newly developing areas need a transformer to meet the power requirements.

There are many other advantages with AC. If the statement you quoted is the only reason, then why we are using sine wave inverter at home? You are actually converting High voltage DC into AC in those inverters. What you said was correct, but that is not the only reason behind it
@@engineeringfacts: Appliances are bending upgraded day by day. So that is not the reason. AC is a return to zero signal. This tendency makes AC a easy to use electrical components like SCR, TRIAC, MCBs etc. Also DC heats the conductor more than AC does and heating loss is high in DC and this naturally affects the temperature coefficient of resistance of the conductor. Also DC with more power is more dangerous than AC. So as such many advantages are there with AC current

How we step up and step down voltage in DC current .

I think by using step up step down converter
Buck and boost converters also knows as DC/DC Choppers
Choppers. But most places, they convert it to AC then step up or down then convert it to DC.
AC to DC - Rectifier
DC to AC - Inverter
Voltage regulator - Transformer
