Before MJ got injured with the Wizards He was a fucking monster
    Pre-injury: 25.1/6.2/5.3/1.5
    Last 20 games pre-injury: 27.5/6.4/5.2/1.3
    Last 10 pre-injury: 29.7/6.6/6.1/1.2
On pace for 57 wins, 3rd seat or so & #5 ranked Defense I believe in points allowed.
Next year he played all 82 and averaged 20 ppg, 5.8 rebs, 3.5 asts and 1.7 stls on 45% shooting.
So in other words he was still an allstar level player, don’t let the younger fans fool you, the film exists he was still a very good player on both ends.

Michael Jordan was better with the Washington Wizards than LeBron is at the same age. Sure, LeBron averages a few more assists and rebounds than MJ, but he also turns the ball over way more, is a worse free throw shooter, is a worse defender, and his plus/minus is a pathetic -11 compared to MJ at +16. And LeBron plays for a team that is way more stacked than Jordan's Wizards and this era of NBA basketball is way, way softer than in MJ's time. Scoring is off the charts now and buckets counted far more back in MJ's day. MJ scored against real defenses. LeBron, I'm convinced, is protected by the league so he plays as long as possible and keeps injuries to a minimum. Just look at all of the uncontested dunks and layups he gets. No one truly plays hard, physical defense against him. They mostly just stand by and let him through when he drives to the hoop. MJ was literally at times beaten down by opposing players back in his day. Some people say you can't compare eras. Yes, you can. The NBA peaked in the 80's and 90's. That was its golden age. It was still pretty good through about 2010. The last 14 years or so have seen a substantial softening of the league. The progression of time does not equal superiority and today's players are not the most elite in history.

I lived in Baltimore at the time. Wizards are our local team. The fact that MJ went to a bad team says a lot. Of course he was an investor on the team. But he didn’t go to a contender or try to steal a ring

Jordan on the Wizards was very similar to Kobe. Volume shots eventually leads to high scoring numbers. Tough to watch during those times

Man... Dude was 40, wooden leg and pretty much a tenth of what he was in his prime, yet his basics, fadeaway shots and slick moves, he was still a monster. You might have your opinion before, now or in the future, but I really doubt we'll ever see another player like he was.

I told some of my friends the same thing. He's pulling a Tom Brady. Brady saw Drew retire leading all the passing stats so he traded to the NFC after Brees retired and played until he passed him. If you ain't do it in the same time frame and conditions, it doesn't matter.

Also be mindful that Ron Artest broke Jordan's ribs in a practice game in June of 2001 before he came back. He had to sit out three months before coming back and starting the first Wizards season later that year. Artest thinks he cost MJ several points on his average that year because of the incident. Listen to him tell the story to Shannon Sharpe.
