Jordan did say he regretted coming back to the wizards and if he could do it again he would not have came back in 2001, however had he just stayed retired in 1998 his PER number would’ve been truly unsurpassable, he would’ve had almost a flawless resume, he would’ve had a career PPG of 31.5 instead of 30.1 shooting well over 53% for a career instead of 49%, the 2 years in Washington somewhat hurt his numbers but he is and will forever be the undisputed GOAT
Jordan said that because Wizards management tricked him, when he finished his 2 years playing he wanted to get back to management and they fired him, after he only played in order to sell more tickets and bring attention to the team, that's the only reason he "regrets" it. Also he has a flawless resume, he didn't give a F about stats, he's not LeFraud, he just wanted the opportunity to prove he could still play with the best and he proved it, he was a top 10 scorer in the league (yes, this seasons where the lowest scoring wise in the entire history of the NBA so 23-25 was enough for top5-10), he took one of the worst teams in the league and almost gets them to the playoffs (and they even had a shot at the first seed if MJ didn't tear his meniscus) never in history was a team sub 20 wins one season and had a winning record the next. All this while he was 38-40 years. People downplay him horribly in his wizards years, ofc he wasn't prime Mike but he was amazing still and i'm not glazing him, look at his records and compare him with the rest of the league he was playing at an all team level.
In his second retirement, Jordan said if he'd been playing for stats, he would never have retired until he got to 30,000 points, or passed Wilt for points. When he came back with the Wizards, it took him into his second year, but he did get his 30,000 points and also later passed Wilt. He arranged for the Wizards to 'honor' him when he got his 30k points, with a delay in the game, a little ceremony, and a trophy the size of the Larry O'Brien finals trophy. So he did get a couple of things he wanted out of his Wizards' years.
I guess you realize now why old heads like me listening to the mainstream media talking heads praising Lebron "we have never seen this from a 38-40 year old" call that a total BS! And even more so when anyone tries to excuse Lebron's lack of effort on D for the last nearly 10 years now because of him getting old...
If MJ never played on the Wizards, he'd still have a career average of 52% field goals instead of 49%. Career scoring average of 32 instead of 30. Higher everything so no Lebron James stats comparisons would occur.
Him Playing For Washington Doesn't Detract From His Legacy. There Is No Comparison Between That Insecure, No Real Game Having Stat Padding, Front Runner That "PARTICIPATES" In Los Angeles 👌🏿.
You bring up Pippen but fail to mention Pippen was a bench player who Jordan took under his wing and mentored Pippen and helped him reach become great. That's a good leader A good leader would never blame his coaches and role player for losing to Mavs in 2011. A good leader wouldn't have had a meltdown in 2018 because JR Smith messed up at the end of regulation. They could have still won in overtime but LeBron had 0 points and then he let it ruin the entire series that's not a good leader. Plus LeBron has given up multiple times in games/series and you call him a leader Only idiots think that's leadership so I'll let you decide if you really think that leadership and you can decide if your an idiot or not since I don't know you enough to call you an idiot
This video has a few mistakes. It wasn’t just Jordan, most of the NBA were going to take Kwame. He was the top high school prospect in the country for a reason. The Chicago Bulls offered their Star Elton Brand for him which Jordan had agreed to but Wizards management vetoed it once Jordan gave up his position to play. Kwame also said Jordan rarely shouted at him, it was the coach Doug Collins who would deride him hard. His double figure scoring streak was over 1000 games too
I been saying this for years already, his Wizards years are significantly underrated, only because our expectations of him were crazy high because of what we became used to him being in GOD mode for the majority of his career prior to the wizards!!!! We expected him to take that crap team to the finals and win another championship, while he was old and athleticism was on the decline, and was incapable of carrying a team all on his own for a entire season, like he once could, specially with bad knees!! He was only a shell of what we had become accustomed to seeing from him, he was far from trash, and he really did (nearly single handedly) turned the team around instantly!!! - He immediately started putting asses in the seats of every arena he played in (home and away) and grew a fan base for a team and young players, that didn’t garner much attention prior to him suiting up for them!!! - He took them from one of the worst defensive teams in the league the year before, to one of the best defensive teams in the league while playing for them!!! - He wasn’t averaging his typical 30ppg+, but he was still one of the very best players in the league!!! - Prior to RIP and himself getting injured, they were on pace to be the #1 seed in the conference!!! So contrary to the Floppers narrative, he was far from trash what does it mean!!! If anything, we as fans just had to greet of expectations from him and the team!!!
In hindsight, it seems like Kwame was a bad pick, but most teams and their scouts saw a lot of potential. Quick and athletic, could handle the ball, had a good mid-range jumper and could cover a lot of ground to block shots. It’s possible that no draft pick from that class would have held up under Mike’s intense scrutiny. Drill sergeant MJ worked in Chicago, but not in Washington. Instead of improving, Kwame regressed. Then Kwame ends up with the Lakers and Kobe, who had a similar approach to Mike in trying to make his teammates better. I’m impressed that Kwame managed to last 12 years in the Association after being on teams with those two maniacs. The vid you watched told an incomplete story of Mike’s first year in Washington. While he played 60 games that season, he got injured (torn meniscus) and played 14 games on one leg before shutting it down and his stats plummeted during those 14 games he played hurt. MJ was getting better as he got into better basketball shape and the team was getting better and were in playoff contention before Mike’s injury. Check out the “Mike’s Underrated Years as a Wizard” video by Jonny Arnett.
Jordan was off for 3 years before coming back to play for the Wizards in 2002. MJ and the Wizards started out that season 1 and 9. Things were not looking good but eventually MJ started improving week to week and at the all star break that year MJ had the Wizards at 26 and 21 averaging 25 points 6 boards and 5 assists a game. Jordan was a top ten player in the league and was a legit allstar. A few games after that allstar game his teammate on the Wizards named Etan Thomas ran into MJ after a play was over as they were about to get back on defense. Etan Thomas bumped his knee into MJ's knee sending Jordan to the ground wincing in pain. Etan Thomas walked away fine but MJ got up limping. He tried to continue playing in the next few games but an mri on his knee showed that the meniscus in his knee was partially torn. MJ had to shut it down and missed the rest of the regular season and had to undergo knee surgery that summer. I'm convinced that if Jordan had not had that injury he could have kept on improving and gotten that Wizards team to the playoffs. It just wasn't meant to be. This video you watched touched on the knee injury Jordan sustained but barely and didn't really show it as what it really was. Which is the reason Jordan wasn't the same in that next and his final season in 2002. It was tough to watch but to me it was Michael Jordan's swan song. There were a few great moments of greatness like scoring 51 pts and then 45 pts in back to back games and MJ hitting 3 last second game winning shots. Stuff like that made it worth it but it was also just cool to see Michael Jordan competing again against the best players of the early 2000's like Tracy Mcgrady , Vince Carter , Allen Iverson , Yao Ming , and ofcourse a prime Kobe Bryant. And....like Jordan had said...he got to scratch that itch to play the game he loved again and to go out of the game on his own terms and not the way he had to leave Chicago in 1999. Jordan really wanted to continue playing with that Bulls team that had just come off of winning their second 3peat and 6th NBA Championship in 8 years and wanted to keep playing for his coach Phill Jackson and go on defending their championship but the Bulls General Manager or GM Jerry Krause didnt want Phill Jackson back as the Bulls head coach and broke up that Bulls Dynasty that Jordan had created. Who breaks up a team that just finished winning 6 NBA Championships in 8 years and has the GOAT on it??? I mean bruh...check your ego at the door! Smh I say that because Jerry Krause was this little short fat man with a huge ego and he wanted all the credit for the Chicago Bulls winning 6 chips. He even said in 1997 I believe to a reporter's question that..." the General Manager and the Bulls upper management wins the Championships and not the players " or something like that. But the fans have eyes and everyone credited Michael Jordan his head coach Phill Jackson and the players for all the winning. GM Jerry Krause didn't like that and wanted to prove to the world that he could win a Championship in Chicago without MJ and Phill Jackson. He actually thought and believed that if he broke up that Bulls dynasty and rebuilt a whole new team from scratch with a new coach that he could win a championship. Well....he never came close again.
He added to his legacy in my eyes and that all that count to me. . He was still nice after not playing for 3 years !!! Who else could sit idol 3 years come back at 38 and still get they s*** off 🤷🏾♂️
How you gonna compare a 39 year old MJ to Tim Duncan, Karl Malone, and Kareem at 39? Those guys weren’t SGs. They were low post players who camped in the paint and had the ball dropped to them in the paint. They didn’t have to work as hard as an aging perimeter player to get looks. Another thing this dude didn’t mention was how the league and the Wizards owner begged Jordan to comeback cuz the ratings were hurting. The owner promised to sell Jordan the team but went back on his promise. The league needed Jordan more than Jordan needed the league. Jordan was getting his knee drained between games. He was still better than a majority of the league on effort and intelligence alone
This video is complete garbage (not your reaction but the video reacted to). First of all the dude is downplaying MJs injuries like they where what ever, MJ in the preseason got his ribs broken and a finger cut very severely with a cigar cutter, even with that his first games he was dropping buckets, then his ribs started to hurt a lot because they where not fully cured, even with that MJ was getting better and better, 20 games before is meniscus tear (which the dude played like he just got a scratch) MJ was averaging 25 points and 10 games before he was already at 27, so he was getting into shape before all of that, dude literally had to get his knee drained every game and he kept playing like that for a few more games until he had to get surgery. Never in the history of the NBA a sub 20 win team came back to the next season to get a winning record until MJ joined the wizards, and he was well on the way to a first seed spot in the eastern conference. Of course he wasn't the Mike of old, it's ridiculous to think that would be the case but he was still a top 5 scorer in the league, still playing with huge intensity both sides of the floor and still giving a great show, Dude was literally playing with broken ribs, a cut finger and one knee and still had an overall average of 23+ points at 39-40 years. Anybody that tells you he shouldn't have played again is wrong, he said it, he needed one last confirmation that he could still play at a top level and he did, also lets not forget that this 2 seasons where the lowest average scoring seasons in history, so he really had around 25-26 points if you count it like when he was playing.
During the 1990s, anyone watching 1995-1998 Jordan games were told they didn't watch the true Jordan. Wizards Jordan had an effect that caused people to call 1996/1997 Jordan prime MJ.
Yeah, Prime MJ was considered by most good players like Charles barkley, Bird, Magic to be around 1989-1991 range, he then became slower every year that passed and became increasingly worse. Even though he was still the best player in the league during the 2nd 3peat. He was around 212 in the first threepeat and 222 in the second threepeat, and almost 230 during the wizards years
There’s a better Jordan’s wizards year video that compares him to the best players playing during that time and he was right there with them all he was still giving mfs the business he just had no help besides rip 💯
@Iamteeski you don't know what you talking about Jordan drafted Kwame to trade him for brand the Owner blocked the trade so Jordan did everything he could to destroy Kwame you base everything you think an say off of narratives not facts or truth
Jordan was injured early dude didn’t even tell that he just said the knee injury later he had a couple of injuries he was playing through so that was the only reason why he didn’t look like the regular Jordan
Before the injury, he played quite well. After the injury, it was impossible because you can't train properly with a bad knee. Besides, it doesn't really make sense to compare him to other 38-39 year old players who haven't stopped playing for two years like him.
So, Jordan's midrange on the Washington Wizards wasn't as good. 1990s (Pre-1998) Jordan had about a 50% midrange. Basically the same as Kevin Durant. Wizards MJ lacked the mid-range that made Jordan special, while not having the speed to do the cool flashy dunks.
Jordan wasn’t the GM when he was playing. I’m guessing though he did have influence. Btw Kobe didn’t drop 50 on Jordan. Jordan wasn’t guarding Kobe as they were playing different positions. If you watch the game, Kobe scored about 7 or so on Jordan.
He was the President of Basketball Operations while he was playing....isn't that kind of the boss of the GM? I think that he called most if not all of the shots for the franchise whilst he played.
@@dewanewelch1744 I know it was said he "agreed to step down"....but if that's really true than who took the job? And if you say Wes Unseld (who was already there) then it was really Wes Unseld and not Jordan that got rid of Richard Hamilton and brought in Jerry Stackhouse etc...which then kind of invalidates a large chunk of this video. Also, when Jordan retired in 2003 after playing those 2 seasons and was reeady to return as President of Basketball Operations and the owner denied it....why was he then given a severence package? You don't typically receivee a severence package unless you are getting fired.
@johnnyb4927 he was given that package because not only was he meant to go back upstairs he was also trying to buy a stake in the team. They broke his contract and had to compensate him for it.
@@Iamteeski u can’t do that fam…just look at the low lights..now u following everybody’s else narrative..he was in the league for 12yrs and he Contributing on the teams he was on…he wasn’t the best but he wasn’t the worst
He was 40, after 2 years retired, in a bad team and you want good %fg. Think about it. Less conditions and more focus d on u. I was super fan of the bulls since 93 i couldnt watch mj in the wizards.
I agree and I'm a Jordan fan. I just can't lie to myself about those Wizards years. Yeah, MJ had some good games but for the most part, most of those games were bad shooting nights. So I agree, that Wizards stint was ugly.
Jordan was/is, a terrible judge of talent, and team needs. As a GM, he assembled a team no better than his own rookie Bulls team. So there is the difference of an early 20s youngster, and a late 30s old pro. Any time Jordan’s teams were not winning, how many all stars, all NBA, stat leaders, were on the team beside MJ?
like, how arogant you need be to think you know better when you did not watch him play, but think players like leflop are better than him? You think all those older guys who saw dr j, magic, bird, hakeem and the golden generation of 80s and 90s are all idiots? they saw today's basketball too. and all of them know mj is way better than anyone else. it is not even close. the closest to mj is kobe without a doubt. other than that, mj stands alone for a reason.
@@Iamteeski if you think what i wrote makes me mad, you are stupid. Read it again, slowly and try to understand. You not watching him live has nothing to do with you not doing research before someone else is better than him. comprende? It is like talking to a wall.

Bro I'm not sure where you got your information outside of Steven A Smith but you're off boss!! @Iamteeski 12 seasons!!! There's a lot of much better player's that didn't come near 12 seasons dude!! Also that man was drafted as the #1 overall pick and THE ONLY highschool player to ever be drafted #1 overall and then he has to play with the GOAT who's known for breaking experienced players down with the expectations he thrusts on them so imagine being 18 and having to deal with that!!! Go watch kwame play after leaving the Wizards and you'll see that he's nowhere near as bad as people are trying to portray

Bro that's not the only video on Michael's wizard years search more and you will see
💯
If the wizards didn't take kwame every other team in the nba would
Whole league was bamboozled
@Iamteeski you don't know what you talking about Jordan drafted Kwame to trade him for brand the Owner blocked the trade so Jordan did everything he could to destroy Kwame you base everything you think an say off of narratives not facts or truth
It did not tarnish his legacy. Just watch a highlight reel and you will quickly forget that he played for the Wizards.
Jordan was injured early dude didn’t even tell that he just said the knee injury later he had a couple of injuries he was playing through so that was the only reason why he didn’t look like the regular Jordan
Dude is really making Jordan sound like he was garbage at the end
@IamTeeski Kwame Brown dominated the high schoolers he played against. He got drafted, but his moves dont work well against NBA players
Before the injury, he played quite well. After the injury, it was impossible because you can't train properly with a bad knee. Besides, it doesn't really make sense to compare him to other 38-39 year old players who haven't stopped playing for two years like him.
This video is garbage. Watch a real wizards Jordan video.
So Wizards Jordan is Kobe Bryant?
You should do MJs North Carolina highlights 🔥🔥
Cap Jordan mid range was highest percentage in league
@@tellitlikeitisfresh6541No. The best midrange in 2003 was Allan Houston at 48%. Jordan's was 44%. Young Bulls Jordan at midrange above 50%
If someone wants to argue Wizards MJ was not bad, fine. This is like an unneeded movie sequel. Things would be better if Wizards MJ didn't have it
To me, 1990s Jordan is the king of midrange. 1980s Jordan is the highlight reel. Wizards Jordan doesn't fall in either cateogory
@@johnnyb4927no he wasn't. He gave up that role in order for him to play those 2 years so the franchise could sale tickets.
@johnnyb4927 also consider he took a major payout to play for them to make money.
He went number one, so Kwame Brown would have been anyone else's pick as well if they would have had first pick
Kwame Brown looked impressive compared to his High School competition. But NBA players are much better
U gotta Check out the other Wizards MJ videos this packed with Flaws
Ok bet any recommendations?

Have h ever seen Kwame Brown play?
I seen the low-lights
@@Iamteeski u can’t do that fam…just look at the low lights..now u following everybody’s else narrative..he was in the league for 12yrs and he Contributing on the teams he was on…he wasn’t the best but he wasn’t the worst
He was 40, after 2 years retired, in a bad team and you want good %fg. Think about it. Less conditions and more focus d on u. I was super fan of the bulls since 93 i couldnt watch mj in the wizards.
People are probably gonna be upset at me for saying this. I don't like Wizards MJ. Wizards season should never have happened
The 2002 and 2003 All Star games were insulting to Jordan fans
I agree and I'm a Jordan fan. I just can't lie to myself about those Wizards years. Yeah, MJ had some good games but for the most part, most of those games were bad shooting nights. So I agree, that Wizards stint was ugly.
WATCH "MICHAEL JORDANS UNDERRATED WIZARD YEARS
Vid coming tomorrow stay tuned🫡
You mad at me cause I’m not old enough to watch him play?
@@Iamteeski if you think what i wrote makes me mad, you are stupid. Read it again, slowly and try to understand. You not watching him live has nothing to do with you not doing research before someone else is better than him. comprende? It is like talking to a wall.
@@Iamteeski not mad at you. mad at people who think leflop is the best :)
Not for the reactor,,,but who made the video he's reacting to,, he is wrong about MJ's injuries doesn't mention the broken ribs,, he's got his stats wrong ,, this is complete trash
Bro I'm not sure where you got your information outside of Steven A Smith but you're off boss!! Kwame Brown didn't live up to the #1 overall pick but Kwame was decent by NBA standard's he just couldn't play with Mike and deal with MJ's ridiculous standards but he was decent off the bench the rest of his career and absolute trash player's don't finish with an 11 year NBA career, but Kwame did!! Man people who don't know better and never actually watched him play need to do some research before regurgitating absolutely garbage takes!!
The issue is that Kwame Brown may of seemed impressive compared to his High School competition.
But the NBA is not the same.
7 teams 6 ppg 5 rpg…
@Iamteeski 12 seasons!!! There's a lot of much better player's that didn't come near 12 seasons dude!! Also that man was drafted as the #1 overall pick and THE ONLY highschool player to ever be drafted #1 overall and then he has to play with the GOAT who's known for breaking experienced players down with the expectations he thrusts on them so imagine being 18 and having to deal with that!!! Go watch kwame play after leaving the Wizards and you'll see that he's nowhere near as bad as people are trying to portray
@@KnucklesWTD-uu3ps how many players got drafted out of highschool and actually lived up to the expectations?! There's only 4 hoss
