AceOfShades no Mulan went to war in the place of her father because he was too old and she went as a man because they only allowed sons. Also when she went to fight, she had no experience fighting she had to learn it like all the other men who were sent. In this story it's a princess who takes her father's threats of marrying the fool seriously. She takes her jewels and sells them to help them live and she trains him to be a badass warrior because she already had that training. Two different stories.
I would watch the Korean princess one. A fool trained by his ex princess wife then gone on to be a military hero? I mean, who wouldn't want to watch that?

The kings daughter falls in love with the crossdressing hero, but gets rejected. Because of heartbreak she falls ill, and to find the cure, our hero embarks on an adventure, meets lots of magical creatures, makes a deal with a dove-girl, gets turned into a man, saves a whole kingdom, finds the water of immortality, returns to the princess and marries her... as he is a man... got turned into a man, by the dove girl... more like he/she tricked her into doing it in some way while trying to get the dove to get him the water..... well ^^ yeah, I can't see that going well with Hollywood....

Iara was my favourite fairytale as a little girl, but the fairytales I was read as a little girl are a lot different to the actual tale. They are pretty much Disney-fied stories. Iara belonged to a Brazilian Indian tribe. One day a tribal elder told her to collect some corn and showed her the route. She sang with the birds, played with the fish and then fell asleep. When she awoke it was night and she was afraid, but could not go back to the tribe, so she stayed the night. When she woke, she was happy and singing. Then two jaguars (which is symbolic of the two brothers) chased her, and the fish (who are now her friends) told her to jump into the water. She jumped into the water, and no one knows for sure what happened, but she turned into a beautiful mermaid who lures men into depts because she hates being alone. Pretty Disney-fied already I believe

Correction regarding Boudica: She and her army were actually better at battle. In the battle where Boudica and her troops lost was in a narrow pass. Boudica's army used elongated swords to increase their swing radius. Due to the narrow pass, they were unable to properly use their swords (unless they wanted to kill each other off in the process). This left the army's defense at a disadvantage, and resulted in most of the army being slaughtered.

What is wrong with Disney making movies that show the full tale. I started reading the original stories before watching the movies and I was horrified at what they had done to the stories.
Princess Pyongyang is already a k-Drama now. It’s on Netflix and it’s called “my only love song” it’s about a girl ACTING to be Pyongyang for a movie and then she goes back in time with a car. She hits a carriage with someone in it and goes to jail to meet The fool On Dal. Then she pretends to be the princess so she doesn’t die and she goes on multiple missions and at the end, the guard that Pyongyang ACTUALLY loves changed his name to On Dal. The girl pretending to be the princess had a magical book that told the future and was sad to see On dal married the princess. Then on dal traveled to 2015 or 2016 where Naneyong (the fake princess) and then they are happy to see each other! You should watch it in your free time it REALLY good!!!!

um haha no she wouldn't. while i adore the story of persephone and hades, it would not be appropriate. persephone was born after demeter was raped by her brother, zeus. when she grew up, her uncle, hades became infatuated with her and kidnapped her against her will. demeter was furious, and went to zeus, but he refused to help her. so she threatened hades and zeus, telling them that if persephone was not returned then she would not let any food grow, causing millions of people to die. and in retaliation, hades didn't let any dead people into the underworld, meaning there were zombies just roaming around. he ended up tricking persephone into eating the pomegrante so she'd have to stay. pretty dark story. however i think the story of psyche and eros would be perfect, as psyche is a great role model and it's an adorable story (and the dark bits can be easily removed).

That depends on the version you're going with though. In some versions, she just wanders into the underworld herself, and in others, she willingly decides to stay. So it wouldn't be that hard to dig up a version that had less rape in it. Plus, they would probably be piggybacking off the Hercules movies, so I think we can imagine how different a Persephone and Hades story would be in that context.

Boudica honestly should've gotten the movie over Brave. Brave's gender plot didn't even make any sense because it took place in a pre - Christian era along with Boudicca meaning that the Druids would've still been in charge. Druid society had men and women pretty much 99% equal to each other with women having to work slightly harder to achieve political positions if they came from a lowly family. Merida's Mother literally had ZERO reason to complain about her daughter using bows and swords from a historical standpoint.

I wanna see the Iara one as a movie but not as a Disney movie I wanna see it as a more adult movie or something like that.
What is wrong with Disney making movies that show the full tale. I started reading the original stories before watching the movies and I was horrified at what they had done to the stories.
Princess Pyongyang is already a k-Drama now. It’s on Netflix and it’s called “my only love song” it’s about a girl ACTING to be Pyongyang for a movie and then she goes back in time with a car. She hits a carriage with someone in it and goes to jail to meet The fool On Dal. Then she pretends to be the princess so she doesn’t die and she goes on multiple missions and at the end, the guard that Pyongyang ACTUALLY loves changed his name to On Dal. The girl pretending to be the princess had a magical book that told the future and was sad to see On dal married the princess. Then on dal traveled to 2015 or 2016 where Naneyong (the fake princess) and then they are happy to see each other! You should watch it in your free time it REALLY good!!!!

um haha no she wouldn't. while i adore the story of persephone and hades, it would not be appropriate. persephone was born after demeter was raped by her brother, zeus. when she grew up, her uncle, hades became infatuated with her and kidnapped her against her will. demeter was furious, and went to zeus, but he refused to help her. so she threatened hades and zeus, telling them that if persephone was not returned then she would not let any food grow, causing millions of people to die. and in retaliation, hades didn't let any dead people into the underworld, meaning there were zombies just roaming around. he ended up tricking persephone into eating the pomegrante so she'd have to stay. pretty dark story.
however i think the story of psyche and eros would be perfect, as psyche is a great role model and it's an adorable story (and the dark bits can be easily removed).

That depends on the version you're going with though. In some versions, she just wanders into the underworld herself, and in others, she willingly decides to stay. So it wouldn't be that hard to dig up a version that had less rape in it. Plus, they would probably be piggybacking off the Hercules movies, so I think we can imagine how different a Persephone and Hades story would be in that context.
A great deal of looking up had gone into this video. Love the stories over all and the fact that some of them are real is just even better. Thank you for posting this video.

Boudica honestly should've gotten the movie over Brave. Brave's gender plot didn't even make any sense because it took place in a pre - Christian era along with Boudicca meaning that the Druids would've still been in charge. Druid society had men and women pretty much 99% equal to each other with women having to work slightly harder to achieve political positions if they came from a lowly family. Merida's Mother literally had ZERO reason to complain about her daughter using bows and swords from a historical standpoint.
