I've preordered core 1.6 in late 2020 so I was never part of a hype-train. With that being said, couple observations from my end:
1. I completely understand the delays in a project, but I think that the project is simply poorly managed. Let's take EU warehouse situation. THey have cores for almost 3 months now, and I still wait from my game. They need to take order, pack it and send. I think it is only one product they have to fullfill from that warehouse. And still, 3 month and 2 support tickets later nothing has changed. It has nothing to do with the creative process - it is simply bad management. Unless they have thousands of games to send, which is obviously imposible, it all should have been sent now.
2. The project is 5 years old, and it would take at least 5 more to finish it. With such large time, the $10M seems not to be that huge amout of money. Even with additional money from late backers, shop and preorders, it is still not that much. They are company - then need to pay rents, salaries, taxes, shipping, and many more with that money. And with every $300-$400 there is a game to be send to backer. And at this point, they don't have many sources of money. Sure, they could stock the shop with all the expansions, and work peacefully on future content. Meanwhile, the shop is empty. Thei might finish the game in next 5 years, but the bankrupcy can come first...
3. I am wondering, in next 5 years, who would still cares about the game. There would be many similar games to play, with more polished mechanics, taking the best from KDM, redesigning weak points. People would play their Sankokushins, Eon Trespasses, and propably 10 other similar games, not caring for KDM anymore
All extremely valid concerns with some surprisingly simple answers.
1. The project IS poorly managed. At least in respect to deadlines, backer experience, communication, logistics/reprints, adapting to COVID, and VAT.
2. After almost risking bankruptcy with their first campaign (due to the decision to switch to HIPS instead of PVC), I'm sure KD is hyper aware of their financial situation. Hence, their elevated commitment to regular, semi-frequent sales above their commitment to tend to their ongoing campaign. Hence, cutting corners on quality control. Hence, breaking their promise to suspend sales until Wave 3 is completed. Hence, a terrible EU warehouse (from what little I've heard). On the bright side, it may reflect their refusal to dip into KS funds for non-KS projects. On the dark side, money is running out. Without a disclosure of their financial situation (which will never happen) there's no way to know. However, recently with all of these "ways" to fund money on the side with NFTs, Kings Coins, increased backer kit prices, and leaving the backer kit open for a whole year in 2020 -- money appears to be more important to them lately.
3. I probably will, and so many people still do after the first five years. Let's talk again in five years though ;)
I think he makes more money off of the extras to be honest. It’s insane how fast they come and go! Dice for instance is $20 USD. They go pretty fast. Not as fast as the pinups! Holy cow!!! They fly like money falls from trees. I don’t think it’s a money thing. They are well off. If I had to guess it is just being perfect and being up to Adam’s standards. As we all know he is anal and serious. If he’s not ok with it we shouldn’t either. It’s just like having that brother who can’t make up his mind. When he does, it’s usually a great choice. I just wish he could have made a decision sooner. At least we will get there.
Valid concern regarding who would still care about kdm. I received my ATO copy & at this point, while i have the gamblers chest and campaigns of death paid for and coming, i am now on the fence if i want to keep it. On one hand, KDM is more a unique collectors item to me and id like to just keeo everything for potential fiture play. On the other hand, i can absolutely sell this game and the expansions and at the least I wont lose much money. Shoot I'll probably make money. Its a beautiful game, including the card stock. Thats one thing i wish other games like Aeon Trespass would do. That matte card finish is so gooood.
Anywyy, while Aeon Trespass is now my favorite game of all time, ill probably keep my kdm game and expansions.
Ive often heard the phrase lifestyle game thrown around. I think thats correct, woth both kdm and ato thwres likely only room for 1, 2 at the most to keeo and collect. Happy gaming boys and girls. I hope the gamenis everything you wanted it to be when it gets.there.

I'm still (foolishly?) hoping that GCE will go to the printers this year (maybe not in Feb, but hopefully in the first half of the year), and that we get a proper deep dive of Campaigns of Death in the BF 2022 update that Adam writes. I guess now that we've gotten the first update our expectations are more calibrated to expect them the last day of the month, and to expect them to be more of a teaser than any comprehensive overview. Still getting a monthly update/tease is more than we have gotten in previous years, so minor improvement!

It'll come out eventually, but it's just a wild ride until then lol.

Good morning Jordan! We spoke earlier in the year about solo gaming and you kinda nudged me along to find other players or try to enjoy solo gaming. I went ahead playing solo and muscled throigh a good chunk of ATO and id like to add, im actually having fun. Bc its so story driven i think i prefer to play that part solo.
Im going to try and sucker a few friends in to comong over and just playing the battles with them. Either theyll enjoy that part more and hopefully get into it enough they actually want to play the other part of the game.
Hello again! I'm so happy to hear that! Now that it's been a month, how did it work out? Was the Mnestis Theatre as good an experience as people make it sound for demo-ing the game?
@@WaitYourTurn i am almost done with cycle 1 and haven't played mnestis yet. I will def get to it tho and try to use that part to lure... errr, i mean entrap my friends into playing the bigger game.
Thinking out of the box, what if they actually worked on everything. I wonder if that's something they've been doing. This would mean the 10 year time frame could be 4 years or less (unlikely) and be completely done. Like you said, did you back KDM or Adams vision? I believe in both. Either way, it should be great. When the GCE arrives, I will have enough content for years. I already have EODV1. I believe in him.
This is true to an extent ... but kind of unlikely xD
With everything they've learned mechanically from developing the GCE, I can't help but imagine the impact it will have on CoD and any number of Wave 4 & 5 expansions no matter how finished they've been since 2019. It could happen though, but I'm in no rush. It will be great.

@@cjpny1455 Same, I'm glad I managed to squeak into the backerkit in 2020. I guess you can see my thoughts on KF now... but after that last ATO update... I AM STOKEDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!

I’m expecting GC, Campaigns and maybe a couple of these expansions to be all that gets released. Most of Wave 4 will get canned.

Just wanted to say thank you for this video. I just stumbled over your channel and I have to say I'm impressed with the quality of the videos and the quality portrait in them. Especially seeing you talk over 55 minutes and hook the viewer with coherent talking. Would be really nice, to see these videos getting a lot more views. Hope a comment helps the algorythmus.
On the topics of the video itself: thanks for this review of this update! I'm impressed by the way it walked the edge between being too nihilistic and being too positive. For me personally, it helped ease the blow while meanwhile still putting the finger down on the nasty parts. Was a really fresh take for me since news/coverage of KDM died down on yt (wonder why that would be...), and if someone happens to do a bit about it, it is oftentimes very one-sided. Don´t get me wrong I understand the positive defending side as I understand the critics. But it is nice to get a well-rounded review where I as a viewer get to see both sides' arguments and can then form my opinion. Instead of being nudged in a direction. That takes skill and that is why this video for me is really good.
I have to admit, that I personally was rubbed the wrong way by the tone in the update. Maybe because I recognised the language used by some really sketchy people and their related behaviors. Here the video help to shift the focus a bit, but in the end, I still find it kinda offputting.
I´m personally done with these updates since I don´t like the feeling of being manipulated or lied to. And some of the communication from Poots feels that way for me. If that's really the case pr just poor choice of words, I´m in no position to say since I´m no public affair expert and as a backer since the first campaign biased.
I will just wait if it will show up on my doorstep someday. If so I will be happy as you can be. But I no longer believe In seeing wave 4 before 8 years down the line, or never. When I invested the money I feared it could go belly up but that's the risk we take. That's something I can live with. But this constant beating around the bush and missleading..... that is just unpleasant and for me really stains the image of this firm/Kickstarter
I still love the game. And the community-made some pretty stellar expansions and fixes. And that's something to enjoy and helps to keep the game fresh.

At the end of the day and especially at this stage, we're all guessing to an extent -- but I'm sure there's a bit of truth in what everyone is saying, negative and positive, and on both sides. Thanks for your analysis. It's like the game I'd love to try but nobody I know has. Um, uve mentioned constant flow from late pledges. Does this mean you can still pledge for KD? If so are the prices different from the og campaign, by a lot?
You’re welcome! They typically reopen their backerkit every Black Friday for late pledges, which they’ve done for the last three years. The 1.6 core game is currently available on their main website for $420 but was only discounted to $400 last Black Friday. As for Wave 3 & 4, those prices went up by a collective $1000 as of BF2021.

BF2022 will be interesting to see if the GCE will no longer be available for preorder or whether it will have reached its final price increase. By this time, they should have Wave 2 Expansions available for preorder (keep an eye out for those!). Be warned that non-backers don’t have the flexibility to choose individual Wave 4 expansions, it’s all-or-nothing. I imagine expansion preorders may be the same way too.

So in other words: yes, at this point all KD products have significantly higher prices from the OG campaign.

Cheers. Hope all of you gonna get this game eventually. It's sure emotionally involving. Will be either a gem or a big let down at this point, hope for the first! But the longer it goes the bigger are expectations, I imagine.

Further cements my view: Great original game, but then a huge cash grab with promises he's so far been unable to keep. If he would just come out and say that he's in waaay over his head and needs more time...that sucks, but it's honest. Instead he acts like a smug, arrogant douchebag and is perfectly fine with the situation...he does have everyone's money after all. IDK if he thinks he has to act that way because it's "the KDM way" or whatever childish trash you want to call it...but save that for when the game is done, don't act like a P.O.S. to people that have every right to feel cheated.
