Yeah.. but I'd rather not. Because it doesn't make a difference to the actual car and there no point spending 2 thousand more just to make it look better.
I was watching the review of this car on another channel. I had to switch it off because of how boring the presenter/review was. Matt really does a great job of reviewing cars. He adds his own touch to it. Which really works! Keep up the good work Matt!
There is a big difference when you look this SUV in live and here on RUclips,go to saloon and just watch him,the design is awesome, especially from behind, and it looks like quality build
Why are so many other reviewers hating on the Tiguan's looks while the 3008 and Kodiaq have ugly headlights (yet are praised for this)? I for one, love the aggressive and sophisticated styling of the Tiguan and all current VW's.
This Tiguan is the kind of car that just grows on you, the first time you look you think it's old fashioned ... but the more you look the more it makes sense, you finally understand and start to appreciate the beauty and clever design. And, if you see the car live you are going to have a big surprise, the photos and images really do not make justice to the car, just go and take a look yourself. The interior materials and build quality IS TOP ! The Tiguan has much higher quality materials and the finishing are just faultless. Just try to shake the central console or the front center armrest and you will see the difference between other cars. Also, not all the "gadgets" are on the same level, for example, the 3008 rain sensor is a total disaster and totally useless, the LCD resolution on the Tiguan is much better, the Tiguan is a lot more comfortable, if you want a "sports" car you DO NOT BUY A SUV!!! But if you want a sport SUV in the Tiguan just get the DCC suspension and you will get a SUV were you can adjust the suspension to your likings and get a extremely versatile car. The Tiguan is closer to be a premium car, and as A LOT more market value.
Agree. And DCC switched to "comfort" gives a comfy low speed ride, when cruising slowly around town on bad and rough surfaces. I'd recommend opting for DCC.
Nothing wrong with Tiguan for a model name, better than Kuga. Nothing wrong with the dashboard, well laid out and tidy and good quality. I thinks it's better than most if not all of the Asian competition better only by the more expensive German models. Yep the lower plastics and those in the rear might be a bit hard but at least it'll be durable for families/children. I must say I'm glad to see it has a spare with the option of a full size one. I don't like the halogen headlights either, you're right, in this day and age it should be better even in the cheap seats models. What were the nvh levels like? Was it quiet?
They should really make LED headlights as standard or an option on the base model. Some people really don’t want all those extra features and to get LED you have to go to SEL
Picked up mine a little over a week ago and I love it. Looks great with the LED lights and in the dark red, ist pretty quick with the 2.0L GTI engine, it rides super comfortable with the adaptive dampers and the Dynaudio sound system is awesome too (a must in my opinion). I also really like the digital Instruments.
Bought this car last week, Deep black colour + LED lights. Looks sick! Our previous car was a Golf 7 from 2013. Wanted to sit higher and have more space available and most importantly, keep the driving experience as the golf (one of the best). Compared to the Mercedes GLA & Audi A3 the Tiguan wins in size/space, comfort inside, price with many extra's & smooth driving experience. The only thing the other SUV's might have are the Design inside & outside, but personally i really love the new make-over, especially full black with chrome finishing touches & LED lights!
Yves Martens I have the same deep black pearl colour in highline 162 TSI-4Motion ( with led ) and also a panoramic glass sunroof and I totally agree with you that the chrome and the black look sick together! But the thing is, I still have to wait 4 months to get my hands on it :(
Same here ! Ours has been postponed to January 2017. The positive side about it is that it will be registered as a totally new car (2017), it will keep the price higher for when it's time to sell again. Our garage let us know they could not handle the request (in Germany). :O
Nice car and my favorite review as it shows rear space and trunk space when fully occupied. Bravo for that. As with all Tiguan reviewers, no one mentioned the turbo lag. The lag was over borderline dangerous/unpredictable. The reason I did not buy the car. Tested the 2.0L petrol version.
Matt i also would like to indicate that vw jetta has all door trims in plastic, golf has the same strategy hard plastic in the back and passat has harder plastic than in front so strategy is the same for all cars strange this is the only model it was said :)
Rather amazing the amount of cars being reviewed by Mat + all the extra walkthroughs - Is there any other channel at all (in the world) that does this amount and type of reviews I wonder? - And I do like the no BS approach, every car get positives and negatives, even Ferrari.
VW really need to make the ventilated seats available on their SUVs, nowadays Kia & Hyundai both have ventilateds seats available in nearly all of their cars, there's no reason VW can't have them!
AWD (4 Motion) should be a "must have" in any type of SUV or Offroad Car, rather you need it or not, who needs offroad cars with FWD? It will make the Car more compact, agile and also suitable for every weather condition
Would you choose this or the Peugeot 3008? From what I've seen by many reviewers the consensus seems to be that the 3008 genuinely is a good car. The interior is very dull on the Tiguan compared to the 3008. I am looking for a new car atm and I'm leaning towards the 3008. What do you think? Or are there other rival SUVs worth looking into?
Hey guys I own a Toyota venza that was discontinued by Toyota and you know what Mat it could have been a direct competitor to the new Tiguan. Honestly I hate the looks of the RAV4, I know it sells well but we have own the venza for 4 years and all we had to change was the oil every 6000 miles, it is awesome. I really love the Tiguan because it looks like a German version of the venza.
Once u drive a VW you realise how cheaply and uncomfortable other car makers are. Good petrol efficiency and a smooth comfortable drive . Must get a twin clutch auto
You didn't mention the rubber seals on the bottom of the doors, I think thats a pretty nice feature, Its prevents dust coming up on the dor step, I have only seen such a feature on the 2016 Renault kadjar.
I typically like the clean, understated Volkswagen style however this one really misses the mark for me. The shorter wheelbase R-Line looks much much better though! The cladding, lights and other trim bits on that model seriously elevate the design. I'm getting Dodge Journey blah vibes on this particular trim...
I am planning to buy an SUV sooner this year. I personally love the design and looks of the tiguan. My only question: Is the VW tiguan a reliable car ?
thanks a lot for these informative review all what you want to know about the car small thing : what it look like at night & if there is a possibility to put the rival cars beside each either ?
The new 4Motion system beats all Asian rivals with ease except Subaru. The new Tiguan is one of the best on snow, great safety for a family who live in the mountains.
Mat you are one of the only reviewers ever to mention the shitty lights that VW and many other brands save cost on... a car like that shouldn't have halogen with disch defusers, even my Citroën C1 has lenses, much better.
I still see brand new cars with similar price tag and regular halogen lights. For example I was buying 2-3 yr old Passat and you would not believe how much people gave money for stupid accessories, but would not pay for xenons... Looking at autoscout24.de you can see how little new cars have upgraded lights.
Problem with halogen lights in this car is that it changes the design of the front completely. Have a look at the same car with the LED lights to see what I mean..
+Reptilius Maximus here in Germany LED or Xenon lights on VWs (Passat, Golf, Tiguan) are sooo rare... I don't know... My dad was looking for VWs and its so hard to find them with quite good equipment. Go for an Audi or BMW they are well equipped.. Genius VW dealer
carwow Exactly and so far what I have seen they are not better than xsenon. Only laser lights got better scores. Thats why I would really like to hear your view, and even better, see it.
I like it when he does the forget it, think about it, consider it, or just buy it end to his reviews tho I think I've only ever saw him say just buy it twice lol like the tiguan will get something in the next 4-5 months just not sure what yet like the seat ateca, vw tiguan, volvo xc60, audi Q3 just can't decide which I like best lol
Keep hearing about jerkiness when manouvering at low speeds in the latest VWs with DSG, the reason is there's no creep facility and that's why I won't be buying the latest Tiggy. Apart from all the new bells and whistles the quality is no where near my 2015 Tiguan.
In a car like this hard scratchy plastics in the back is exactly where you need them, where sticky dirty fingers are so its nice and easy to keep clean.
Better looking than the previous model despite the overly fussy body creases. That interior though, SOOOOO dull. (IMHO !). Great review though - as always :o)
were they able to fix the suspension of this model compared to the older generation model? the bounce when going down a rough road feels really wiggly and not very compliant
If your comparing for the same price then e class anyway but I'm also considering the a4, c class, XF, and of them all I consider the e class as the best
you are an idiot be quiet, check engine light is on because the fuel cap is not properly closed haha. You need to educate yourself, or stick to your shitty plastic cars.

I agree, this is the first Tiguan I'd even contemplate buying.

always good reviews but you are the most heavy handed person I've ever seen
Very good review mat as usual but I thought it comes as standard with digital speedometer
It's a £585 option on all but the top two trim levels where it comes as standard - in the UK at least :)
we have the 2017 version still its still good ngl
Video posted on 2016 and title says it's 2018. Seriously. Do not mislead your followers.
Love your videos Matt, but recently watched some of your infotainment- practicality videos and I would ditch the in-depth words as they are just 2 minutes long. don't get me wrong they are decent but not in depth for sure
It's wonderful! Way better than T-Roc
