When I first heard this song on the radio at work in 1999, I immediately stopped what I was doing and went over to the speakers. “What. Is. This?!” Awesome then, just as awesome now.
Same here too back in the early 2000's when this song was big in y teen years.
I did the same....it was WOW, what the hell was that ?
I would call the radio station and say “what’s that song you played that goes blah blah blah dun dun dun bring me down..something?” 😂 old schools Shazam
Absolutely! The opening riff is devastating.
I did the same thing on Dire Straits Sultans of Swing when i had my first job at 15
Collective soul has got to be the most under rated band in history
It’s really kinda shocking. Their songs got tons of radio play when they came out but I never hear anyone spontaneously bring them up.
Wrong. That award goes to King’s X, whom Collective Soul borrowed from.
Them and KingsX....good call!
Agreed. 110 per cent. Criminally.....underrated. Grew up in60*s Class 77 H.S so was kinda spoiled by al music from that era. 80"s Hair bands. Alt. Rock Grunge
Apologies for the delay
Hit wrong sumthin or other
Anyways .....ohh been awhile since I commented or read threads but now gotta know. Kings X. Will definitely backtrack. Have a listen n thanks 4 info. Always appreciate that. 👍Thanks.
Here from Rick Beato. I didn't know CS was so awesome!
Same here. Sorry to say that I never heard it before. But I’m hooked now.
Same here. 🎉
Same here !!!!! 😅
These guys had great guitar work at a time when almost nobody did. 👍👍
Where ya been?? This was the band of the 90's. Imo. Damn shame some missed the train. Glad you're on it now. These guys smoke!!
Back in 2008'ish my wife's employer had a 7 figure budget for the Christmas party, a couple of hundred people in a ball room with Collective Soul on stage. Was rad.
That's the coolest f*ckin Christmas party I've ever heard of, idc if I absolutely hated my job and all my coworkers I would still attend and get there early
That is not only one badass Christmas party, but one badass boss. Only thing that could have made it better would be an open bar.
Great thread lol
Try dusky skranard
That party must have been ape shit.
This a timeless banger.
Hell yeah
Yessir!! It is
I'm 56. I remember this song well. Banger!
When did we get old man?
I don't listen to this song often, but when it comes on I always BLAST it in my car, and listen to on repeat 10-20 times after.
Brings me back to playing NHL 2001 with my brother on the PS1, good times
Was gonna say the same thing, that game was such a huge leap in quality from previous years, loved NHL 2001 and this song is awesome.
@@YeahNadaSurfgood times
Who would have thought that now I'm 40 years old and listening to this it seems like yesterday when I was getting drunk and singing with my friends. Everything was so different. Like a sonic time machine, it really takes me back to those moments in my life. Now I have a beautiful daughter and a sometimes pathetic marriage. I still get up and never give up.
Nice. Get it buddy and hey, your marriage is better than mine...nonexistent 😔
Rock music is all that matters. Not some succubus who sucks your soul out, makes your life hell, distracts you with chores, bills and raising children. Let this song breathe life back into you. Become your true self again. 90’s/2000’s rock never dies.
This song swells up 3 things in me when i hear it:Energy, Confidence, Motivation.Spectacular song.A real diamond in the ruff.
Ruffin it, with a bass player named Ray back in the day. Collective Soul got it's props when I heard my brother in law dedicate it to a friend on the airwaves. Real radio.
When I hear these kind of songs, it makes me feel like I'm 7 again sitting in the back seat of my mom's Chevy Lumina telling her to turn it up 😂. Nostalgia at its finest
Reminds me of when I drove my mom's Lumina. ;)
had a 99 lumina.... currently drive the buick version (Century)
also put in a BAD ASS stereo (2 amps....6 speakers on 70W RMS.... two 12 inch subs on 500W RMS each)
.
then 1 year later went to college and found all this 90s music (only had 1 radio station that plays 80s love songs mostly....)
good damn memories....
.
i love the GM W-body
Backseat of a firebird for me, but otherwise we have the same memory.
Same. Remember my mom and her lumina
7?!!! Shit, little brother....I was 37!!! Rock on.
It IS MY FAVORITE Collective Soul song!! How could you not LOVE this song? It rocks and it makes me wanna 💃!!!
That guitar solo.
Haven't heard this in 10 yrs. Listened to it often when it came out. Always bought their albums, cds by then. Anyways......this song is fucking awesome. I'd forgotten how good it was. And is. 👍
Even in Africa we love collective soul ❤
I love my 70s & 80s rock so much I heard this song for the 1st time just a month ago. Now I'm learning these guys really kick ass. Love them❤
My fav 90s rock band..they have quite a few songs...most popular one is probably Shine..i like Shine, Heavy, December, The World I Know etc etc
They have a massive catalog of awesome albums/songs. You have work to do!
I wish I could discover them again lol
@oscarobregon, What were you doing? living under a rock? this song came out in the mid 90s
Me to , .
I saw Collective Soul Live in Fort Dodge , IA Saturday last week and they played this song. This was my 8th time seeing them.
My old stomping grounds! ♥️
All these people have cool stories of when and how they heard this, I was on a 2000's post Grunge & Rock station on Spotify and this hit me like a sack of bricks, Been in love with this song since
This is 1 of my fav songs & it's stuck w/ me for a good amount of my yrs. I was around in the 90s but in 99 I was still only 16. So in my defense, even tho I like this song, the 90s is a blur for me. It's like yeah, this song hits deep, sadly, it's always f'n heavy for me & it never stops, but for the life of me, I never remember who even sings this. I'll go through a 90s vibe thing trying to list off randoms from the top of my head like idk. It's prob soul asylum.
Definitely the classic Collective Soul trademark sound.. Overdrive riffs followed by melody... I've seen them 7 times and am going to get tickets to see them once more
I had a chance to see them, unfortunately it was the Saturday following 9/11 and I have never been able to get the same chance. Shame.
@@wendyhamm9722 first time I saw them was about 2004? they've done many tours since.
Seeing CS in @a week in Vancouver. Greatest band and 1st live show!
@@paulg1358 you're in for a treat I think.. I have tickets to the show on the 29th at the Commodore and don't think I'll be able to make it.. I've seen them there twice and it was F'n AWESOME
Are you interested in buying tickets to a music festival that Collective Soul will be headliner the first night?
Vocals are too quiet
So funny u did exactly what I did after seeing that Rick Beato interview with Ed
@@GregScott616 😂
Turn volume up
Same 😂@@GregScott616
Hahahahaha
Will Turpin’s bass line in this is fantastic.
The whole thing is fantastic. Close to their best song I feel
Man, i remember when i first discovered this amazing song. I was immediately hooked. Ever since then I've been a huge Collective Soul fan. Dosage is one of my favorite albums ever
RIP Jay Severin, formerly of WTKK 96.9 FM Talk in Boston. Heavy by Collective Soul was the opening song to his weekday afternoon talk radio show.
Nhl 2001. Anybody else???😊
My favorite song of all time.
Ditto!
Wow
After all these years, I'm still obsessed with this song.
One of their best....but there are so many great ones! Thank you for all the music CS. ❤️🤘❤️
Has that Precious Declaration vibe, great song.
that guitar solo
It just goes right through me like lightening!
No one has mentioned that Collective Soul is the greatest band name ever.
nhl 2001, my 23 :)) GREAT TIME.
forgot all about this and then it pops up and hits me like a ton of bricks (get it?)
nothing like years of hardcore narcissistic abuse to really enhance one's appreciation for this little rocker.
THIS WAS VERY HIGHLY UNDERRATED WHEN IT CAME OUT. IT WAS POPULAR,SURE, BUT IT DIDN'T CATCH THE WAVE IT DESERVED, I BELIEVE. BUT I LOVE COLLECTIVE SOUL
It was #1 on the Billboard Rock chart for 15 weeks straight and it was the opening soundtrack on EA Sports NHL 2001 video game.
@@IcecommandoX lol .
@@IcecommandoX WHAT PART OF "IT DIDN'T CATCH THE WAVE IT DESERVED, I BELIEVE" DO U NOT UNDERSTAND?
@@steveapplegate8710Collective Soul are often called underrated but they’ve sold over 10 million albums. I’d say 95% of bands would kill for that
Love that these are being released by you to is, thank you for so many years of pleasure 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Me encanta éste tema de Collective Soul, tiene un buen estilo grunge y más aún el riff.
Hi boys of Collective Soul.
Song fantastic.I love this song and too " The world I know", "Run", "Needs", "December", "Precious declaration", "Listen" , "Shine".
Thank you for their work.
See you from Peru.
Currently att my eight year old's gymnastics meet. Shine starts playing over the loudspeaker.
I suddenly felt the overwhelming urge to find this. I've not heard it for probably ten years. It's still every bit as good as when it came out.
Damn the mini guitar solo is crazy.
Absolutely. Kind of Van Halen-esk.
I knows no one knows who Jay Severin is but he was a great voice in the Boston area. He introduced me to libertarianism. Small "l" libertarianism.
Being from the late 60 s early 70s this is the first (modern band I could relate to)
My oldest son introduced me to grunge. 🖤🖤🖤
With an intro like that, this song should be longer.
Agreed! I think it's part of its addiction - short but highly catchy. ; James D Watkins artistic director of PHOENIX PRODUCTIONS.
how could I miss this in 00
Favorite band.. My first live show was Home in Atlanta. Seen repeatedly since and will again August 18 in Utica New York.
Grazie RADIO CAPITAL-MIXO & LUCA DE GENNARO- per avermi fatto ascoltare questo brano sconosciuto che mi è molto piaciuto!
On my epic playlist!
This song raises me up when I’m feeling heavy, and it inspires me to help others suffering with mental health issues when I’m feeling fabulous.
My phone's ringtone for the past decade. I rarely answer calls...just let 'em ring.
One of the raddest grooves ever.
Every band has a "sound". This one has few parallels.
Buena, saludos desde Perú 🇵🇪
The guitar on this is fucking spot on!
Seeing them tonight! Can't wait!
Even though I hear this in college, it still feels like it was an 80's song I heard in my childhood. One of the unsung greats.
This just popped up in my recommended videos and I couldn't think of the song. This is crazy! I haven't heard this in at least a decade. This is going in the rotation.
a true classic!!!!
Wowww !!! What a kind of song awake on me this feeling of want to listen more and more rock like this a masterpiece!!! ❤
Still obsessed with this song and album
When I listen to this song, it reminds me of my teenage days and the beautiful summer days in the late 90s.
Bad ass song then and now!
Friggin amazing song!!
Thank you
This has to be my favorite album
Great song from a great band!
I totally forgot about this song. I'm here today because I just heard it again, of all places, driving along with a fellow chaperone on my kid's field trip. Imagine this suburban soccer mom in a mini van, and here we were rocking out to this as we followed the school buses. I was like, "Omg I was in 6th grade when this came out." She laughed and said, "I was in my first year of college. I remember playing beer pong to this."
It was the coolest thing, in my mind we were in 1999 again. Here I was, a little 6th grader, riding shotgun with the coolest college freshman. It made me feel both young and old at the same time.
A well crafted song for sure.
Collective soul is awesome
Simply purerock truly undErrated
This is a brilliant piece of music.
106.5 the end (Charlotte's rock station) plays this and others all the time
106.5 The End is how I first found this song, way back when I was in HS. Thrilled to hear they're still around.
@@jnerdsblog yep although they're an alternative station now. funny fact that i didn't know until about 2015, 106.5 was created on my birthday. so i like saying that it's my station
The best song !!!!!!!!!!
We were there. We saw something beautiful. It was the last too.
NHL 2001 Baby!
This is the ONLY CD I ever bought. I was blown away by this song when it came out..
I think I was in high School when I first heard this song, so much better than most music nowadays
Hypnotic! Much love
Party like the world is ending in 2000!!!
The bass player, Ray, is thumping on IT.
U can feel that chorus
Damn this song jams!!!
I like this
Hearing this on random rotation always helps me access my inner wisdom. Like puzzle pieces clicking into place. Today's "aha" moment: that I always position myself within sight of an exit. Survival instincts from my narcissistic monster parent.
Nothing else to say they said it all and we all have to b originated from 60s&70 need I say more, love
I never used to listen to this music but I do now it's so cool
When I first heard this the guitar riff immediately reminded me of the Quake 2 game track "Quad Damage"
Pretty much a quintessential representation of a particular time in Music. It has everything Post-Grunge offered.
Awesome riffs
This song manifests a uplifting mania 🎉
Ed still needs to make the Roller Derby video he always wanted for this song.
Uma das melhores músicas que já ouvi. Sensacional
I was an older woman when I heard this song. I was 30. I just divorced my husband of 9 years. I raised my daughter by myself she turned out great.
2024 and this song still hits so hard! ❤❤❤
Hell yeah collective soul ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊❤😊❤❤❤😊
Collective soul will always be my childhood rock band it's still be in my little girl heart
It's one of those songs I wish was redone by a 21st century band but only to ensure it continues to live on.
Excelente tema de una excelente banda.
First time hearing this song!! WOW! POW! 11.6TH.2023 12:32 AM
I still remember the day I first heard Collective Soul (Precious Declaration), and I’ve never looked back.
CS rocks, then, now and forever! 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
How have I never heard this?!?!
great..legends
Good luck in Missouri guys.
Thru my neck out on the way home from town
