I really love the way he sings. The thing about Coheed is that they are all excellent musicians. They have the total package--the art and songwriting is incredible and the performance side is impeccable. These guys worked their asses off to get where they are.
they're so freaking good started listening to them just a few months back, and they are top played on my iTunes, 4 of their songs, already! if they go to reading i will actually go streaking
His voice wasn't going just he can't be full blast in a small studio and on acoustic. He is definitely stronger now :) Saw him twice recently and he sounded fashionably good
I absolutely adore Coheed's acoustic tracks. I 'm not a big fan of their last two albums, but I love love love it when they perform the songs in acoustic! I more so enjoying PFI, and Shabutie songs, that's just me. I don't think his voice is off too much, and when exactly are people 100% all the time with their singing abilities? Unless of course they're using autotone. I'm praying their new album is more like their old stuff! I do adore these guys.
thats actually a vocal riff he does throughout nwft. the most predominant being on the hound and mother superior. he mastered it in the studio and now uses it to spice up melodies.
Fantastic recording! I love hearing it slowed down like this. I'm willing to bet that this in the transition period between his old range, and his new lower range.
yeah last i heard Claudio smoked, he quit for a while to try and help with the acid reflux but he started again when they went to meet Mic after his rehab, apparently Claudio was so nervous about meeting him that he started smoking again, dunno if he still does smoke but thats the last thing i heard about it
@Leafiepie I heard he actually has acid reflux problems, so it drastically affects his vocals, but I'm not sure what he does to help it in studio when he records albums, since he doesn't seem to do anything to help it when he performs live.
@osostewie2 You hit it right on the head. If he sang it full capacity that close to the mic, it would be horrible. He simply held back and sang falsetto...
It's because it's an acoustic performance. Claudio doesn't want to overpower everyone by singing high and singing lower is probably hard so he is forced to whisper at times.
Love his voice. and also the whole thing of every one saying smoking is the reason for a voice to be bad. okay a little bit. but I have done lessons with Melissa cross and smoking isnt going to make ur singing voice bad or good. one of claudio's problems is the breathing. its not bad from the smoking, its because he doesnt use proper breathing techniques when he sings. acid reflux will mess ur voice up no doubt. claudio needs some lessons for breathing techniques.
Actually his voice sounds like this most likely because these live radio shows happen extremely early in the morning. It's difficult to sing in all ranges of your voice when it's 8 or 9 o clock in the morning.
@s92dx Thats called falsetto and if he sang with his normal voice the whole time then he might as well get the explorer out and go all out but acoustic... it has to be calmer... i talk in circles so what wanna fight about it? ( reference to family guy "You gotta tank. So what, wanna fight about it?)
He may have acid reflux, but he might be whispering because he's IN STUDIO! I remember when I used to have Sattelite radio, this dude Jason Ellis got yelled at once or twice for being too loud, could be wrong about why he's whispering, but that's what I think...
Yea smoking doesn't change your vocal ability pretty much at all, but it does affect your lung capacity. But how much it affects basically on your fitness.
Having seen Coheed and Cambria live approximately 8 times, I can say with absolute certainty that yes, Sword, he CAN hit those high notes flawlessly. However, his vocals have a tendency to overpower the guitar portions in acoustic recordings, so he sings them a little less intensely (although in a way that's more intense). You can sit there and hate on Claudio Sanchez all you want, ill just sit here and bask in my guitar-gods presence.
Yeah. Love Claudio and Coheed&Cambria. But he has to choose the happy middle ground in these live performances. If he kept his range like he does at the "the words you scribbled on the walls..." parts it would have sounded amazing. But he goes high like he used to, and it turns into a whisper. He's not 20 years old anymore. haha. Either way, it's awesome though.
To be honest, some people who smoke gain a better voice, it kills your vocals eventually, but look at old school Blues vocalists. Imagine a Tom Waits that didn't sound like he was hitting stogies erry day.
Maybe. I'm sure there's lots of reasons he struggles with the highest notes these days, though -- his voice is older, matured, wear and tear from not singing correctly and harming his voice. I think only recently he started gettin coached. He sings in a better way now but harder. It sounds better to me. Oh, and he smokes-- surely that doesn't help.
You'd be surprised how well you can maintain your voice and be a smoker. The energy you get during a live performance tends to take precedence over playing "properly." I'd rather a band be putting their all into it rather than focusing on being precise. Just me though.
This suck in this video.cludio sounds like he has a cold or sumethin lol.this song sounds so much better when it isn't live.sorry cludio.they r still my fav band.
I really love the way he sings.
The thing about Coheed is that they are all excellent musicians. They have the total package--the art and songwriting is incredible and the performance side is impeccable. These guys worked their asses off to get where they are.
This was back in 2007. He has gained a lot of his old voice back. not to mention, his diet and cutting back from smoking has helped
i like the raspiness in his voice it brings just as fresh of a sound to the song as the jazzy twist
they're so freaking good
started listening to them just a few months back, and they are top played on my iTunes, 4 of their songs, already!
if they go to reading i will actually go streaking
Hell yeah, Coheed and cambria is just amazing
i am certified have OCCD! Obsessive coheed and cambria disorder! Manila loves Coheed!!! cant wait to see you here in philippines!!!

A tears in my eye.

I just typed in something like " jazzy acoustic favor house Atlantic" into limewire, in audio and i got an mp3. its great.
its so unique. he makes the highs sound fucking brilliant
His voice wasn't going just he can't be full blast in a small studio and on acoustic. He is definitely stronger now :) Saw him twice recently and he sounded fashionably good

man what a great song
thats actually a vocal riff he does throughout nwft. the most predominant being on the hound and mother superior. he mastered it in the studio and now uses it to spice up melodies.
this version is amazing, claudio is THE man
Fantastic recording! I love hearing it slowed down like this. I'm willing to bet that this in the transition period between his old range, and his new lower range.
Great job on the audio G 106!
i love their acoustic versions as much as the album versions..
@Claudioprice7 Which makes the fact that he can hit the notes he hits even more awesome.
That man's smiles
beautiful
lol, i love this one, and how he goes ok, one two pwoo pwoo pwoo
amazing
yeah last i heard Claudio smoked, he quit for a while to try and help with the acid reflux but he started again when they went to meet Mic after his rehab, apparently Claudio was so nervous about meeting him that he started smoking again, dunno if he still does smoke but thats the last thing i heard about it
Yeah, he quit smoking a little over a year ago I think, his voice is better than ever now, he's got much better control of it now too. :3
couldnt agree more.
Claudio is amazing.
amen,dude..
I think it's on Mother Superior.
Something like "With a hope they'd understand" With that sound on "understand"
@Pushkinator that would be awesome aha can you imagine all of second stage turbine acousticly? :D
i like the whispering
@Leafiepie I heard he actually has acid reflux problems, so it drastically affects his vocals, but I'm not sure what he does to help it in studio when he records albums, since he doesn't seem to do anything to help it when he performs live.
YAY! :D
badass nice
@Ridley72 Theres an acoustic version of every song on IKSSE3
@osostewie2 You hit it right on the head. If he sang it full capacity that close to the mic, it would be horrible. He simply held back and sang falsetto...
Bad ass.
Yeah it dose.
Poor Claudio. :'(
He's a beast.
Watch a Neverender video and tell me if you think that will happen. His voice is as rich as ever.
Good eye sniper!
damn so fucking good!!
It's because it's an acoustic performance. Claudio doesn't want to overpower everyone by singing high and singing lower is probably hard so he is forced to whisper at times.
It seems like he has regained this range recently...
@foREVer66611 Dude, he's singing higher when it's not raspy, so how is that as high as he can go? It's intentional and I think it sounds great
agreed...
Actually his voice sounds like this most likely because these live radio shows happen extremely early in the morning. It's difficult to sing in all ranges of your voice when it's 8 or 9 o clock in the morning.
where can one get the tabs for this version? :D
@s92dx Thats called falsetto and if he sang with his normal voice the whole time then he might as well get the explorer out and go all out but acoustic... it has to be calmer... i talk in circles so what wanna fight about it?

do they have bluegrass strings?
Yea smoking doesn't change your vocal ability pretty much at all, but it does affect your lung capacity. But how much it affects basically on your fitness.
i think the running free?
claudio sanchez is my hero.
Awesome song and it's good acoustic too but I wish he wouldn't whisper :l oh well I love Coheed and Cambria
whoa whoa what? care to enlighten me on this?
@jje910 like smoking is something inevitable...
Having seen Coheed and Cambria live approximately 8 times, I can say with absolute certainty that yes, Sword, he CAN hit those high notes flawlessly. lol, so true. LOL
@Ridley72 think of it, a favor house, lying lies, telling truth, iksse3, the list goes on, feathers, time consumer, devil in jersey city
Yeah. Love Claudio and Coheed&Cambria. But he has to choose the happy middle ground in these live performances. You think 320 is a lot? Check out ExpertVillage, they have 82,000 videos.
It's a alteration of the original recording.
Nice bald spot Matt Knight!
No but seriously I miss you guys :(
To be honest, some people who smoke gain a better voice, it kills your vocals eventually, but look at old school Blues vocalists.
Imagine a Tom Waits that didn't sound like he was hitting stogies erry day.
I know, but still good though :D
Or someone with a voice box! XD
:/ so i guess claudio's voice is going..? maybe it was just sore! anywayz Still beautiful even sounding like this right here
Maybe he's trying to comment on ones maturity or lack there of, when they leave a negative/malicious comment, constructive criticizm is alright.
lol view 24000 :P
He really should quit smoking!
It won't be long before he can't do any of these songs live
i would rather him just sing a bit lower and stll be able to hear him
You sir, are deaf. The bass has a HUGE part in this.
worst shit every
story of the year is the best
He's got acid reflux disease, singing high for too long makes him sick.
