  • The Dainese Axial Pro In Boots were released in 2011 and remained the flagship race boot for Dainese until 2019. During that 8 year run, these boots were popularized by MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi.
One thing motorcycle race boots have in common, they look like race boots. Usually motorcycle boots are clunky and cumbersome to a degree. And that’s par for the course, as they are made with protection in mind.
Enter the Dainese Axial Pro In Boots to the picture. These boots were made to be worn inside a Dainese race suit. Which means they aren’t as large as other race boots from other manufacturers.
Of all the race boots I have owned and worn over the years, none offer the level of mobility that the Axial Pro In boots have. That’s due in part to the fact they are designed to be worn inside a race suit, as opposed to outside of it. Now Dainese did this with protection in mind. If you own a Dainese race suit, you’ll notice the shin protection is more robust below the knee area than other brands. This is because they are designed with wearing an “in” style boot in mind.
The boots go inside the suit, the Velcro attaches together, and it gives the rider a comfortable, protective, and streamlined area around the foot. I’ve gone down in these boots while racing Supermoto and they held up extremely well. So I’ve tested them in that regard, and can give them my full blessing.
The Dainese Axial Pro In Boots are ultra lightweight, and offer a level of flexibility/mobility that no other boot on the market has. Sure other boots are just as light (SIDI Mag 1 for example), but there are no other boots your can walk around all day in without squeaking about. These boots just flex in the right areas, so you don’t have to walk around like John Wayne.
The other thing these boots have an advantage in is the ease of getting them on and off. The only boot as easy to get on/off is the SIDI Rex, which is a much larger boot. But the Axial Pro In Boots are a one handed affair, they are that easy to get on/off. Open a zipper, slide the foot in, pull a tab, Velcro the straps, zipper back up. Easy breezy.
The looks of this boot are another main attraction. Unlike all my other boots from various brands, these boots can be worn discretely under a pair a jeans without anyone knowing you have on race boots. Because of that, you can wear them out and about to places you can’t wear other boots. Many times people didn’t realize I was wearing motorcycle boots, unless they looked closer. This is great for those looking to have the protection of a race boot, without looking like a racer.
The Axial Pro In does have a downside though, and that’s in ventilation department. They were never offered in a perforated version. Because of the design, and the lack of perf, they just don’t really vent well. Typically I wear these boots with my Dainese race suits during Spring/Fall track days. While these aren’t my warm weather racing boots, I do wear them in the summertime with jeans. Never any issues with them.
Do you want a pair of great race boots, that offer incredible protection, unrivaled mobility, and look amazing with jeans? The Dainese Axial Pro In Boots are the way to go. If they are good enough for Rossi, they are more than adequate for you. Plus they look dope AF.
    As always, stay fresh.

those boots are not meant to be used with a normal pair of pants, as the dainese racing panths and suit have additional protection once you strap on top

Good review! Is this boot true to size and it seems like putting your foot inside a boot that has a boot that it would feel tight or snug. Right? How do you think this boot compares to Alpinestar super tech R boots? Also, if you wear the boots without the leather and you have the velcro on top is it noticeable and bothersome? Thanks

The boot is true to size. But it is not worn outside of pants. Your riding jeans, leather pants, or suit go over the boots. They look great IMO with riding jeans.

Im in search of a boot that i can wear daily and i have narrowed the list to either Supertech R or Axial beacause of fitment issues. Do you think Axials would offer good protection with a proper riding jean on the street? My main concern is the shin protection as Axials are a bit shorter as you stated.

I wear my Axial Pro In boots with jeans all the time. They are the best looking boots to wear with jeans. And if you measure it against a Supertech R, it’s only short by maybe an inch or two. If the plan is to wear just with jeans, I’d go Dainese as they are better for walking around. You’ll be plenty protected, so don’t worry. Hope that helps.
