I do not have enough right now, to make much of a list in the I Have colum, not the I NEED colum will be super long... I have a 291.00 budget for the month, I only get to town maybe once a month. Town is at least 20 miles from me. 2 DG with in 6 miles. So expensive.!!!
I haven't bought toilet paper in probably 2yrs. A friend of mine buy's me toilet paper for Christmas and my birthday. I know that's a strange gift BUT I really appreciate it. It saves me money and its great for me.
I think this a fabulous gift. Just on the convenience and saved money it's great. Costco Charmin cases are up to $29 now. ( I always wait for sale of $5 or $6 off.) Additionally TP is much better than a knick knack or clothing item you don't need or want. Recently I gave a bachelor friend some Kirkland cooked roast beef as part of a birthday present. Some people are so hard to buy for . . .
I bought my mom toilet for Christmas this past Christmas. One day my retail store I work at had to marked down and there was a sale on it. In order for the sale to work I had to buy two. That shop was such a good deal. I’m stocked up on tp personally as well. I’m a snob on my tp.
I am a list maker 😂😅! I have a non-food item list. I keep a pantry list, and winter stock up list (I don't drive, it can be windy and cold walking to store). I also have a freezer list and separate produce list for my small fridge. I see the produce list every time I walk into my tiny kitchen. It keeps me constantly think about ways to use what I have. ZERO food waste here!😊
I am a family of one. I have to be 100% self reliant. I know that I use 1 1/2 rolls of toilet paper a week, so that means I need over 75 rolls for a year's supply. My goal was at least 2 years supply of ALL I will need and I worked hard to get that. Do I care what people think about that? NO. I search out deals regularly and I have a good idea of what I have and what I need. For example, right now I'm low on canned tomatoes but have a case of tomato paste. It's not as difficult as I thought it would be once I got the hang of it. So, now I shop from home because I have a stocked pantry. A big relief from the stress of fickle prices and fake shortages.
Hi cutting baby wipes in half helps to. And if your water gets cut off because of bad weather you still have something to clean your hands with. Keep extra bottles or gallons of tap water under the cabinet sink when you need it to flush the toilet for emergencies. I hope this helps. You can buy tissue at the dollar for 1.25 and for 12 rolls you'll spend about 3.75 plus tax.
One thing about T- Paper it does NOT go bad. Also, due to Inflation you have SAVED MONEY by not having to pay a higher price. I have stocked up on T- Paper before Costco changed the roll size but kept the same price. So it was shrink inflation that I beat. It's just my wife and myself, but still I think I may need to buy more in 2040....lol We do an inventory update every 6 months and it's all in the computer for reference. This includes all foods can and frozen, dry and HaBa goods (Health & Beauty). Also pet goods ( 4 cats). Our goal, with Inflation running crazy and not stopping and supply chains out of whack, our thought is better to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it. If it can't expire or go bad like T- Paper there's no down side of having more when prices are going nuts
@@shannonmccann3814those numbers don't include groceries ❤. If it did people would panic at the real inflation numbers ❤. It's a out of site out of mind kinda thing 😢❤.
I am a nurse, and by the time I got off work every day, there was no tp left anywhere. I would go from store to store to store. I had a friend buy me a bulk from Costco twice. But other than that, I bought no tp for over a year. Then, when it came back, I bought a Costco pack every week until I had 15 packs. Lol... I still feel like I need to buy it... it was a traumatic time for many.
We do a freezer and pantry "eat down" twice a year. I don't grocery shop during that time except for perishables and I make a point of using up stuff we already have, oldest to newest. By the time we get to the end, we might have some rather unusual meal combinations, but it's how I make sure we don't have expired food, freezer burnt meat and so forth. It's so easy to get carried away.
I have found a simple way to stop freezer burn, I vacuum pack EVERYTHING IN THE FREEZER. From, chicken, steaks, chop meat, pork chop, and tortellini and pizzas. I hope this helps.. I also freezer eggs, but that a whole different story... Hope this helps. Just my 2 cent Good luck
I had a friend and her fiancé buy my husband and I 2 Costco packs of TP as a wedding gift. It probably took us a year and a half to get through all of it because it’s just the 2 of us, but it was great not having to worry about it lol
One thing that helped me tremendously was buying an upright freezer. I am able to see what I have in there without having to unload everything like I had to with a chest freezer 😊
I used to have a chest freezer gifted to my family by my grandmother. It was like forty years old. What I did was buy the plastic clear bins with lids. I labeled them, “chicken”, “beef”, “pork”, etc. I could just pull it out and get what I needed from whichever bin. Plus it gave it an extra layer of freezer burn protection.
My favorite current food hack is to buy the ready-to-eat spinach and throw the entire bag into the freezer - it works perfectly to put into smoothies - just pull out a handful at a time!! I found this by accident and I'm so glad that I did!
Also, I'll chop some frozen spinach from the ziplock to add to a frozen pizza or homemade lasagna. I also do that with peppers so they're always on the ready!
I always buy toilet paper and paper towels every time we go to Costco. We are a family of 2 and live in a rural area so I don't want to ever run out! It's not getting any cheaper for sure! I also sold my chest freezers and replaced with smaller upright freezer that I can see everything on every shelf and can organize by category. Best thing I've ever done!
You did NOT make a mistake in calculating tp. Never run out. I learned my lesson. I buy the largest package of my Charmin until I had half a medium closet full. Now I use 2 packages of those then I buy another one so I have at 5 big packages to use. Literally had 1 roll left during the first lockdown. Never again!
Husband has some “thing” about tp. No idea what or how, but his family broke him. If I do not have a MINIMUM of one unopened 32 roll pkg, he PANICS. Seriously. Just before lockdown, bjs had some stock up sale. I bought 5 32 pks, 3 5 pks of Clorox wipes, one 12 of paper towel and enough downy products to wash the neighborhoods clothes for a year! None goes bad, so why not (right?)? Still working thru the wipes and paper towels and on the last of the downy stuff. If I EVER got to one roll, I’d have to have him taken to a padded room. I currently have 4 unopened 32 pks of mega rolls, plus two sleeves that didn’t fit in the cabinet (a HALF a 32 pk!) as well as a full cabinet. I will soon go to bjs, and will get another (if they have a full pallet AND a sale. That is the one item I am never short on. Oh! And I have probably 1 1/2 32 pks stored in bins in the motorhome. Last visit with family, I had to take a sleeve into their house because he was so upset his sister didn’t refill the guest bath and the last roll was out!
It only takes a bout of sickness to run out of tp. So I'm with him on that one. I always, always, maintain a year of it then when I take a package I buy 2 to replace it. I laughed when people where panicking over it. I'm sorry but there are just some things you should never run low on or out of. Feminine products, hygiene, and baby needs are another ❤.
Newp. Still have access to a YTK (remember that???) stock of POM TP. Works. Great. Probably $.10 a roll. I also have access to a nearly unlimited supply of pine cones. My grandma told me how to use those. NOT INTERESTED. In fact, that’s a significant motivator in never running out of TP. I live in the land of TP. Georgia Pacific and Kimberly Clark are within a 3 hour drive. Yet guess what was NOT on the shelf in my town for an unholy amount of time? Choose your own adventure, but this is one I am not doing.
My mom and I almost invested in a deep freezer but we had the same concerns as you just mentioned about things getting lost in there if you didn’t have a great organization. We are great organizers however, with those freezers being so deep, it is still possible for things to get lost. We instead invested in a small, standup freezer. That’s about 5 feet tall and 3 feet wide.it’s more like a small refrigerator in the fact that it’s not quite so deep and it’s easier to keep track of the inventory inside and we are very pleased with it.
I prepped to retire at 62 and not start collecting SS till 65. Turn 66 tomorrow and have no regrets. Just understand you will have more TP usage in retirement than when you work and use😂 cheap corporate TP
I stock up on food, cleaning supplies, paper products, basically consumable for no more than a year’s worth. When I find a deal/sale on something that is when I top off that product. I am totally envious of those that Walk In Pantries and Basements. Of course, I have had a few people see my stockpile and have started their own or tell me they are coming to my house when disaster hits. I have been writing the date I start using a product on things like shampoo so I can estimate how long it takes to go through a bottle, giving me an idea of of how much we go through in a year.
The kiddos are all moved out and it's just my husband and I. I have realized in the last few years what we eat and use. I only buy those products. It has saved so much. I take leftovers and make something different with them. I have learnt and I have no food waste. Also I make everything from stratch. So much cheaper and I know what's in the food. It also tastes delicious.
Love this! I always used to make too much food and had alot of food waste, now I keep stores, but I only make what we need. Always repurposing what doesn't get used into either leftovers or incorporated into the next days dinner.
This is the best hack I learned a few years ago (thank you to the grocery store worker who told us). You can freeze the jumbo size spinach AND/ or kale. We do that and put in our smoothies.
@@jessann5581 Yes! I have to hide veg in my toddler’s pasta sauce. I tried making him zoodles but that didn’t work. He loved helping me make the zoodles but refused to eat a single bite. 😢😅
@@suzybearheart530 at least he enjoyed helping. I never bothered to try and do fancy things with my boys. They’d never eat. So hiding it was the next best option. They never know, neither does the husband. Haha. I hide veg in pretty much everything. It’s great.
I'll do this. When I realize something non-perishable is close to its expiration date, I drop it off in a Little Food pantry. Then it is quickly in the hands of someone who will eat it soon. Of course, only donate unopened good food.
In 2022's larder approach #5 to include non-food items, we had a tp discussion and collectively decided dispossble, flushabe paper was to our choice. We happened upon a good deal and bought enough such that when combined withnwhat we had, we would have enough "to last a year". Consequently we bought no tp in '23 and in mid-Feb '24 we were diwn to 1 pack on the larder shelf. Now we are venturing past tp shelves to look at price tags and try to decipher package labeling for wuantity comparisions. We generally aim for larder quantities to "last a year" to lock in current prices, take advantage of good prices, and relish grest prices; after checking package dates in the store. Then we shop the larder and generally don't replentish until were about out or out. Some we won't replentish between the price we originally paid and what inflation has done to the price. By setting the cap at 1 year's worth, if it takes 18 months to 2 years we wont be wasting things. I can generally tell 6 to 9 months in if were going to run out in about a year. If not, then i step up consumption.
I was savy during the pandemic by not only stocking tp but also installing bidets in both of our bathrooms. I also keep a steady supply (always) of rubbing alcohol, shelf stable foods including milk. We wanted for nothing during that time. Being prepared at all times means not panicking. It's very simple. Assess what you use, then buy one or two extra each shopping trip to build and keep up your stock. It's not rocket science.
If Covid taught us anything, it's that we need to analyze and adjust our needs accordingly. Very true with emergency stock, re-stock, and waste. Excellent Video and excellent approach.
Great tips and congratulations on 600k subs. One tip I'd like to add to help make your inventory easier is when you buy anything put the purchase date on the package. Also, if you buy multiple cans of the same thing, I've started listing next to the purchase date the number I bought. For example 1:12, 2:12...so on. That way it makes it easier for me to know how long it takes for me to use up an item and I can plan my shopping more efficiently and shop the sales. For bulk purchases, I label my container of rice when I opened it and now know that it typically takes me a month to go through a half gallon jar. I know now that it takes me 2 years to use a case of paper towels. It's been a game changer for my household.
@@Jackie_W82 oh I see. I don't care as long as stuff isn't way past best buy date. With my system hardly anything ever "expires" so I'm not wasting any food. 🥰 cleaners and TP don't actually expire so it's fine to have extras.
@@AngieWy exactly. I'm getting low on space and trying to save up for a new roof so the goal is to only buy what household goods I will go through in a year to make budgeting and rotating easier on me
"I don't want you to go an entire year without buying toilet paper"... Meanwhile I'm still working through my toilet paper stash from almost 2 years ago 😂
My dad was a Depression Baby. He only bought things on sale on the day they gave seniors got a discount. He always used coupons for what our family truly needed. If he hadn’t overstocked on TP before he died, my mom & I wouldn’t have had TP for Covid. He only bought things he and my mom actually needed. Did he have about 15 bags of whole bean coffee? YES. But coffee isn’t perishable. After he died we should have given it away to a charity. However, my mom & I were too depressed and overwhelmed to deal with the pantry. Please understand that Depression Babies & some War Babies stock their pantries for real psychological reasons.
During the COVID TP shortage I made toilet cloths out of white flannel. I use these washable cloths for tinkles...TP when necessary. I only purchase one or two rolls a month now. Over a year...6 rolls a month down to 2 rolls per month is a chunk of cash!
Besides inventorying make sure you have really good organization of all your stuff. Because we have 2 bathrooms & don't use the one with the tub I use that tub for organizing ALL cleaning supplies. In the chest freezer I use baskets - one for ground beef, one for pork & bacon, another for frozen vegs, etc. Kitchen pantry has one shelf for breakfast foods like cereals, cocoa, tea, another has PB, soup, spices on a 2 tiered shelf & they're alphabetized. And, I don't use my dishwasher so it holds plastic containers with matching lids, glass jars and paper napkins, paper towels. And one more thing that keeps my inventory under control - I never let my husband shop alone😄
A tub should have water run in it occasionally so to prevent the P-trap from going dry. Also, a dishwasher, just like any other type of machinery left unused can lead to any number of problems. The hoses may dry rot, the motor may seize up because the grease dried up, etc. Maybe your dishwasher is already broke, so just an fyi.
Last month I did a pantry and freezer challenge and I continued it to this month. All I'm buying is milk, eggs and fresh produce. And I haven't bought toilet paper in a while(im stocked stocked up)
Lol…I haven’t bought anything except fresh in 3 weeks, eating up the stuff languishing at the back of the cupboards. Also encourages us all to come up with new meal ideas! We even have “new food Sunday “. Sometimes it’s just ok but more than half are new recipes now in our usual rotation.
I’m going to inventory everything tomorrow! I’ve been spending about $800-900/month just on groceries (I buy some organic but not all) and that doesn’t include non food things like baggies/tp etc. which I budget in a separate category. I always have what I want on hand so that’s great but I know I can start reducing this extra inventory so it doesn’t go bad before I can use it! I know what you’re going to say Christine: I need to meal plan! Ok I’m on it! I have been trying to wait to go to the store until I’ve planned meals and that has helped a lot! Now I’m going to plan meals from my pantry! It’s like a declutter challenge!
@@hollylaureano2860 I have shopped there a few times but their produce is awful. I have to waste more time dragging my three little kids around to other stores. My mom always loved shopping there when I was a child but maybe just the one in our area does not carry quality produce. Costco and Walmart are the best around here.
If your daughter moved out, maybe you can see if she wants any extra foods you have already. Also, give to a food pantry so it doesn't have to go to waste.
I haven’t purchased laundry detergent in several years and probably won’t need to do so for another year or more. My DIL’s friend works for a manufacturer of home cleaning products and one of their varieties of laundry detergent was being discontinued. Employees were allowed a certain number of bags of detergent pods to take home. The friend took them but preferred another product. She offered them to my DIL. My DIL tried them and preferred to stick with her go-to. So they finally landed with me and I'm not picky about laundry detergent. I'm single and I do 2 loads of laundry per week. That's 104 pods per year. I was given 6 bags containing 60 pods each so you see from the math - years of pods. It will be strange having to buy detergent again. I don't even know what it sells for anymore.
i have a erasable board on the side on my fridge with the inventory of my freezer and pantry. When I take something out, I erase it . When I do my shoping list, I know exactly what I have and dont end up with double, unless it was a super deal and I plan of using it soon ! Save time and money 😃
I used to keep a food pantry and freezer with a 12 month supply. Everything was rotate and we rarely had any food close to the expiration date, occasionally but I donated it fast. I got so lucky finding deals. Food Lion had a name brand pasta on sale for a $1. Right beside it was a blinkie machine with $1 coupons off 1 pasta. The sale was month long the blinkie was a month long. I bought a yrs worth for me and another 50 boxes to donate for $0, zero dollars. I never cleared the shelves. Our food pantry asked how I was getting so much pasta, I told her and she laughed and “said, it figures.” That was 2016. Those days are gone. 😢
When making the smoothie for your son or anyone, freeze the banana first. It makes such a nice cold and thick smoothie. And maybe for the son with braces, use a straw.
Omg you’re right about the “smoothie intention “ I constantly buy organic kale and spinach, only to end up tossing it the garbage. I have to admit I just am too tired to even think about making a smoothie. I love your suggestions and appreciate your advice. Please more pantry and freezer meals.❤
I learned a trick! Stuff a freezer baggie full of fresh spinach/kale and smash the bag to get out most of the air and toss it in the freezer. It won’t go bad for a long time and you can add it to your smoothie/pasta/anytime! I just crumble some off when I’m ready to use it. I do this often when I notice I’m not using it all up! I also chop bell peppers and freeze the same way! I used some tonight in my stir fry and you could not tell I hadn’t just chopped it!
When the pandemic hit my mom was already getting the large Charmin rolls delivered and that service never had a shortage during that time. At our house we have a handheld bidet I installed, found on Amazon so my hubby hardly uses any TP. I already had a stack of makeup remover pads that I used and then TP as needed. We buy a box of Reel once a year, don't use much TP at all. I get a few things at Gordons, 2.5 bags of spinach which I eat in a week, 3 heads of romaine and the big bag of frozen peas. We DIY sauce, so much cheaper and every time we blend in a can of beans.. Look for soybean flour for protein powder. I do shop at everything from Dollar Tree to Whole Foods, changes weekly. I barely waste food. I don't stockpile it and I don't have much in the freezer. If needed I can eat canned items or dried goods. Thanks for the lists.
Yup, I haven't bought tp, pt, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, laundry soap or dish soap in 2 years I figure I saved quite a bit of money in inflationary costs. I try to have a minimum of 1 year of supply if not 2 full years of regular household products. We haven't eaten much peanut butter either in the past year, I donated a bunch of pasta peanut butter canned veg to the food pantry down the street recently too.
The females in my house use cloth wipes (made from old sheets) that we wash, we only use it for urine. I made fabric reusable paperless towels, also washable feminine hygiene products. There are many things you can do to reduce cost.
I think not buying toilet paper and paper products for a year would be great. I could live with an overstock. I found that eating simple lighter meals is better than making a huge meal and feeling to full. We've cut back on our grocery shopping a lot. We had pasta with meat sauce for supper one day. The next we had toasted cheese sandwich and salad and the third day, we used the leftover pasta sauce over breaded chicken patties for "chicken parmesan" . Leftover meatloaf makes quite a few secondary meals. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. 💝
I did a full pantry, freezer, fridge inventory in late December. I put the item, how much and the expiration date. I then entered everything into an excel spreadsheet and sorted by expiration date…and waa-laa, I had my meal planning done for the next month or so. I’m still whittling down the food (It’s only me that I cook for). I’m making spaghetti & meatballs today in the slow cooker! Half will go to my son and his wife (who just had a baby) and the other half I will portion out for me to eat this coming week.
In case it helps, my savory go-to goodies for post dental work also include mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, eggs, and lentils/lentil soups. Also, I have personally found turmeric supplements tremendously helpful for the pain from inflammation with it.
I was my mother's caregiver her last few years when she had dementia. She was constantly using the bathroom and using a lot of tp so I bought as much as possible every time it went on sale for a certain price or below. When she passed we had half a room filled with nothing but packages and cases of toilet paper. I brought it all with me when I moved to my apartment in 2019 so I was sitting pretty when Covid hit. I finally ran out this year and had to buy it for the first time and yes I still buy on sale, just can't fill a whole room anymore.
I didn’t buy toilet paper for more than a year too. Mine wasn’t on purpose. I saw a good deal on Amazon for the toilet paper we use & ordered it. When a huge box arrived I was very surprised. There were 96 rolls of toilet paper in this box. There are only two of us in our household. 🤗
As a prepper - we have lots of everything.......at least at my age, I don't have to worry about choosing between meds and food like so many of our elderly
Meal planning - Saved me 50% a month on food the first month. Even more as I started being able to by pantry items to make those meals at the lowest purchase price. I was amazed.
Just because dates on food said expire, doesn't mean it's expires. Also sells by dates, and uses them by dates. I just finished drinking oreo Hot Cocoa from 2018. It's still good. You can do pantry challenge to help to clean out your pantry etc.
I just did inventory! omg, I found out I had a lot more than I thought. I get 5 gal buckets with twist on lids and buy an extra bag of rice or beans when I can and toss it in the bucket. I shop towels instead of paper towels and toilet paper. I use vinegar for a lot of cleansers. It's great for wiping down small spills and a once a day counter wipe. We save jars and plastic containers for bean, rice and tea storage as well.
Portion the spinach into small zip bags, press out the air and freeze. You can use the small amounts per meal/smoothie! It's a real money saver and way better than the frozen stuff at the store!😊
What a great reminder. even if I do this every three months... mistakes happen. One great way to use up your peanut butter (and tomatoes) is to make Dumoda, it is a Gambian dish with chicken or lamb in a rich peanut butter sauce served with rice. I'm not a great fan of peanut butter, but this dish is lovely.
Made your potato soup last week. I had a large sweet potato that had a spot on it so...... I subbed in 3 cups of sweet potato for white potato. I cooked the sweet potato for a few minutes first then added in the white potato and cooked as usual. I had a few wilted Sage leaves in the bottom of my fridge that I fried until crisp in butter for a topping. $5.00 meal with 8 adult portions. My family love this meal. I have made it many times with out the sweet potato as well. Thanks!!!!!
@@maggierose97 I stayed in a fancy hotel while in Uruguay for business a few years ago. The bathroom had a bidet and next to it was a basket a soft clean washcloths. So once you clean yourself with the bidet, you simply dry off with a clean cloth that gets washed. So you might save on TB but may end up spending a bit more on laundry. But I felt so nice and clean and I would love to get a bidet eventually and switch to cloths.
I think you nailed this topic. I've started coaching myself with a mantra of Just because something is on sale doesn't mean I have to be the person who buys it. Same with just because I could get 5 at that price, doesn't mean I have to get that many. I've started doing the math and pairing it with the Best Buy dates while I'm in the store...as in, if I buy a year's worth, is it even good that long? ❤
To save money, don’t buy pasta sauce, first off it tastes processed, instead make it from scratch it tastes better and any left over freeze it, use it for pizza as well. I will never spend money on that again, same with Alfredo sauce. Salsa too. And freeze the spinach
I had a client do inventory on her food stuff. I had to help her write down the items. I picked up the habit and transcribed it on my computer so when things are used i just delete it. It helped me definitely with minimizing down to once a month grocery shopping.
I started three weeks ago challenging myself to use what I have first before buying more food. I saved about $300 this month so far. I did this to help reset HOW I shop for groceries. We are empty nesters but I was still buying like our sons were still living at home 🥴😬. I needed a major reset and this is helping me to accomplish that. I plan on continuing to use what I have first especially when it comes to the freezer full of meat. 😊
Most food products do not have expiration dates, they have best by dates You do not have to dispose of something as soon as it hits the " best by" date. It means what it says - it's BEST by that date. In other words, the quality - the taste or freshness may not be up to their standards. You will not get sick from eating peanut butter which had a best by date a month ago. Now, if it was 2 years ago, that's a different story, I'd throw it out. But folks, throwing stuff away because it's "best by" date was 2 weeks ago is wasteful.

It's just my wife and myself, but still I think I may need to buy more in 2040....lol
We do an inventory update every 6 months and it's all in the computer for reference.
Well Said 😊
Inflation is at 3.1 down from 3.4 not sure how that out of control. when it's at 3.1 and same time last year it was at 6.4.
Yes tp does go bad. My elderly dad stocked up. When we went to use it, disintegrated. Yuk

We live out in the country… my boys and husband pee outside. Saving me water flushing our toilet all the time 😂
I am a nurse, and by the time I got off work every day, there was no tp left anywhere.
Do you think Costco is better than bjs? Thankyou 😊
What is bjs?
@@hollylaureano2860 I don't think we have a bj's here
We do a freezer and pantry "eat down" twice a year.
Just my 2 cent
Good luck
Perfect
Christine posts and the for a few minutes I feel like I'm listening to a friend share her day
I had a friend and her fiancé buy my husband and I 2 Costco packs of TP as a wedding gift.
@@JamieLC82great,me too
My favorite current food hack is to buy the ready-to-eat spinach and throw the entire bag into the freezer - it works perfectly to put into smoothies - just pull out a handful at a time!!
I guess you have to make sure you bring the old to the front because I do think they disintegrate! We all have our OCD ideas about things! 🎉
Scarcity mindset
We bought TP in 2019 and still have a full stock of it, because we bought from a restaurant supply store ❤
With the way prices have increased and are increasing, it’s been a good investment, lol.
😂😅 I could not find TP or Dawn dish soap after chaos came. I will NEVER be without them again!
I prepped to retire at 62 and not start collecting SS till 65. Turn 66 tomorrow and have no regrets. Just understand you will have more TP usage in retirement than when you work and use😂 cheap corporate TP
Or if you homeschool and both work from home a lot.
With the way prices have gone up, be happy you are saving on paper goods. It all helps.
It’s been a great investment.
In the good old days, used to buy all non-food items for a year, on sale, with coupons (those were the days!) Thanksgiving week at Walgreens.
Same here!
Perfect idea

You can freeze spinach. Perfect for smoothies or to add to scrambled eggs.
OR.... you can just EAT IT. It is a delicious cooked side veggie! Also delicious raw in salads/sandwiches.
This is the best hack I learned a few years ago (thank you to the grocery store worker who told us). You can freeze the jumbo size spinach AND/ or kale. We do that and put in our smoothies.
Hide it in your bolognaise sauce. 🤷♀️
Great way to get some veg into fussy eaters diet.
It’s great.
Rotation pantry is a must and freezers too
You could donate any excess, so many people are struggling! You are a very good shopper! Also love your RUclips stuff!
The date on cans etc does not mean it’s gone bad. We eat stuff years past and it’s fine. Pasta keeps for 15 years
I was savy during the pandemic by not only stocking tp but also installing bidets in both of our bathrooms.
Thank you!
I just put the best buy date on everything and put oldest at the front
@@dianasimplifies yes, that's what I used to do as well but it didn't solve the issue of how much of a particular item you use in a period of time.
@@Jackie_W82 oh I see. I don't care as long as stuff isn't way past best buy date. With my system hardly anything ever "expires" so I'm not wasting any food. 🥰 cleaners and TP don't actually expire so it's fine to have extras.
Wow, I just started doing that too. I buy toilet paper anytime I go to the store - need it or not. Just in case.
@@AngieWy exactly. I'm getting low on space and trying to save up for a new roof so the goal is to only buy what household goods I will go through in a year to make budgeting and rotating easier on me

What I realized during the chaos of 2020 you don't need as much as you think you may need.
I totally get the husband thing. 🤦♀️
Wow! Great ideas😊❤
Excellent!
I so love your sense of humor and all the fun clips and references in your videos! Thanks, Christine, for making such a great topic so enjoyable!! 🤗💛😄

Freeze the spinach before it goes bad.. perfect for spinach dip, just thaw it back out in warm water then squeeze out excess water

You could donate some of that food to churches or food Pantry's so many people don't have excess amounts of food
YES please! Our donations are WAY down.
Congratulations on 600k

I learned a trick! Stuff a freezer baggie full of fresh spinach/kale and smash the bag to get out most of the air and toss it in the freezer. It won’t go bad for a long time and you can add it to your smoothie/pasta/anytime! I just crumble some off when I’m ready to use it. I do this often when I notice I’m not using it all up! I store TP and PT in empty slots of my Fridge / Freezer to save electricity.
Thanks for donating! I volunteer and with high prices, donations are WAY down. We don't have enough pbj, tuna or pasta sauce.
The females in my house use cloth wipes (made from old sheets) that we wash, we only use it for urine. I made fabric reusable paperless towels, also washable feminine hygiene products. There are many things you can do to reduce cost.
When a can says expired it is still good . Same with pasta , dreid beans .

I need to do a meal plan for this upcoming week. My goal this year is to use up stuff that I bought in 2020/21 so I can refresh

I’ve been in a hurry and didn’t check the expiration dates, 😮😢
I'll be doing a pantry inventory this week. I have a friend visiting for 12 days. We will have pasta & sauce at least 3 times during that period.

I have 4 kids and we have not bought toilet paper in almost 2 years now we are down to about 2 large packages so I get to buy some soon
Most food products do not have expiration dates, they have best by dates
You do not have to dispose of something as soon as it hits the " best by" date.
