Got to admit, those HL2 beta jokes got me.
The mod also has the beta physgun (the two-handled thing that eventually became the Gravity Gun but was revived with a different model for G-mod) and I think the untextured (purple-black checks) semi-automatic is supposed to be the OICW (the gun that was to be used by the conscripts).

Ryan Minten Unreal made me feel legitimately lost. It was amazing. There actually are a few community patches that add better textures, make it 4k compatible.
