There is a significant difference in difficulty depending on if the pipe is drawn tempered, also called 'hard', 'rigid' straight pipe or annealed, also called 'soft' or 'flexible'. ASTM 380, Refrigerant ACR pipe, typically bought in wrapped coil is 'soft' and is easier to swage.
Don't push too hard as you want it to heat up and soften to avoid possible fracture cracks.
Other similar tool is a flaring bit which fits inside diameter and has bevels at base to just flare the pipe end for flare connection couplings.

And just like that, I now know how to use a tool like this. Thanks Jared!

Does that tubing bender you were pumping in one of the scenes work for residential copper plumbing in North America? I would much rather do that than all those elbows! If it works without kinking the copper, where do I get one?

No, it would kink standard plumbing copper. This is Ac copper which is much softer and easier to bend.

Can I plumb a whole house using a swage where needed and bending copper instead of using couplings and other fittings?

Technically you could but with the cost of copper today you'd most likely use pex

I just got a sec, do you think using nylog as a lube to get it started would hurt anything? I would think the heat from the bit would burn it off for the most part and the rest will be taken care of when you heat it with the torch.

It probably wouldn't hurt but I don't think it's needed

You had it in a vise. What about just holding it with your hand?

It's tough to hold onto anything larger than 5/8" without an extra hand

@@SmitHVAC. What is the best way to hold on to the pipe in the field?
