If you have one or two of these on your home (those that are larger and/or in warmer climates) you can still just leave the main central AC in place while the others run on pure solar since you’re getting free energy anyway and just end up with much less stress and use of the main unit during hotter months.
Agree, and add almost $200 for shipping. I paid almost exactly that 2 weeks ago for a 24K EG4 and 7 bifacial panels (up to 540W per panel). I'm going out on a limb and saying the ecosolaris can't compete with that.
Seer2 23.4, nice. The spec sheet linked directly on the web site differs on some key specs vs the download version - 180W minimum for COOLING vs 380W, 24-42 dbA vs 55 dbA indoor unit noise?? Etc... Ecosolaris may wish to review...I sure hope the lower numbers are the correct ones!! Thx for vid..
I am seeing very low cost mini splits out there, but even if you used a more expensive brand name what’s the advantage of this unit compared with an inverter system that passes line voltage through when solar isn’t present?
If you already have a solar setup with batteries and an inverter, sure a normal mini split is the way to go. These solar hybrids get you started in off grid air conditioning and heating for a smaller upfront cost. These are what got me into solar.
Hard to say which is better, the EG4 has been around longer and we know it has a pretty good track record. The Ecosolaris has delivered everything it promised, but it's still new and we don't have any long term testing yet. It does have the built in Mppt, the same as the EG4.
Am I reading the Temperature range chart correctly?!? The unit will not provide AC when the outside temperature is above 90F? The unit will not provide heat when the outside temperature is below 32F? That is a big deal in almost any climate, unless I am wrong here.
what about the amps? The amps on some solar panels are rated more than the unit. For example, a 400 w panel could be rated at 12amps and A 12 k btu solar ac my be rated at 7 amps. Would you still just hung it up or do you need to drop down to like 100w solar panel that have amps rated at like say 5, (hooking it all up in series, ofcourse! ) ? Have not seen anyone answer that question about these solar ac's. would some thing like this potentially damage the unit?
You have to be careful with the big 400w panels, Deye (manufacturer of EG4) says it won't hurt the unit but for warranty it's always best to stay within spec. I prefer lower wattage panels so I can get my voltage up into the 200s without exceeding the max wattage
@@SmitHVAC. I didn't go to their website and look because that's a deal-breaker for me for d.i.y. I do like that the mc4 connectors are already pre-installed. Being able to go 48 volt battery direct would be awesome. But because I'm not an electrician and I barely understand solar, 230 volts if I'm not mistaken One battery would not be enough? It would be awesome if no wiring had to be done for this either to an inverter or an electrical panel if you could just run this direct from solar panels direct to a battery Bank. That being said when you first open it up you said that the mppt that eg4 has is not available in this unit.. so not sure how that would work.
It won't come with all that stuff for us peons. hahahaha lol. I agree that putting it straight to a battery would be interesting. As long as it can run all night on it but then we are in 3k or 6000xp territory at that point.
How can a company have 2 in stock.. sorry buddy but surely these are what is called house branded.. they are ordering them from China and China puts their name and logo on them.. they are obviously not making these in Canada in fact,, be very careful China isn't supposed to sell these in America. that I know of. least not without paying the tariffs..

48v sounds interesting. Thanks for keeping us informed.

That's exactly what I do!
Those mini-splits are a hot commodity these days. Super efficient and great units for the cost! Enjoyed this video. Keep up the great work!
Excited to see how they stack up... really happy with my 12k eg4
The direct solar input makes this a winner for my use case.
Thanks for doing this! 48V woohoo!
$1,000 more over the EG4 for what? That's quite an increase in price... Will be interested to see why. Thanks for reviewing.
It's listed in Canadian dollars

How much did you pay total for your system?@@Terrathrax
On the website it's in USD
All that “free” swag contributes to higher price tag.

I noticed that as well, good eye Rob! I will clarify in future videos.
Still waiting for someone to put out a solar-hybrid unit a ceiling cassette option
That'd be cool!
This would be awesome if they could design it to go in campers so we would not have to run a generator. I think it would sell big time!

They need to make a retrofit kit for non-solar mini splits with the 48v option as well. I have 2 but got them right before the EG4 came out.
That'd be cool, probably easier to put it on a inverter setup though.
So which is better, the EcoSolaris or the EG4? And, does the MPPT standalone matter? The EcoSolaris unit does not have a MPPT, is this a problem?

Noticed the Amps was 20 Amps as opposed to EG4 12 Amp. Easier to series parallel.... Jeff
The better way to go
Nice range on the dc solar. Do they show an amperage limit too?
I'll get into the solar specs in a future video!
is there any rep. seller back in South America Paraguay ?
48V battery....YESSSSSSS
keep us posted
Check out Airspool much easier install.
@@patlaird-iz7kg Airspool is the same as EG4 which I have covered in depth
I'm curios who makes the 12k EG4 HSPF2 =9.7 230vac model so I can look up the extended AHRI specs on NEEP (says "Galaxy" Series)

What is the Seer rating?

Cooling up to 89.6F that’s pretty pathetic IMO, hopefully it’s a typo.
It is a typo, the website states 131F
Are they going to come out with the pre-charged lines version?
I'm sure it's on the table, I'll ask!

99.9% sure these units (Ecosolaris, EG4, Airspool) are all made by the same company out of China: Deye.
These ones are not made by Deye, EG4 and Airspool definitely.

Too expensive
Why?
