We young Nagas grew up with an induced knowledge that we are Indians. Im a naga from nagaland and I'm living a free life with all the political & human rights available to any other citizens of the free world. So yes, I don't see any good in my own people's struggle or demand for freedom though I have immense respect for my culture, history and identity. In fact though we have come a long way we would have been gone far more ahead than we are now if not for this so called political movement. As this very movement is becoming somewhat of a hurdle towards our own path to proper growth and development. As a youth maybe I have different ideals about certain things in life but I will stand by my understanding that this movement is not one which can help us rather only take us behind. Especially to even think of greater Nagalim, bringing all the nagas together is a far fetched dream. In the process Nagaland is only becoming a hub of some other tribes which are not recognised officially in nagaland which can if ignored and allowed will have a negative impact on the existing tribes of Nagaland. We are all good the way we are and where we are at the moment, we should embrace this fact as God's will and strive to make our society grow and move along with the rest of the world. Otherwise it will act like a curse even upon generations to come.
I say yes to a lot of your points but certain points got my nerves and here is something from my side. Is it so wrong for the Nagas to unite and live as one? Families got divided just because of some outsiders vested interest. You think and talk and laugh keeping your perspective and your side first and that's how the misunderstanding between you and your neighbor begins. We Nagas were never understood decades back and we're still not understood. We are no fools and we understand how things work. Hearing him speak now I think he was never really serious about bringing an amicable solution to the Indo Naga political issue. I mean how could an interlocutor be so messed up about the origin of the organization he was engaged in a dialogue with? For the benefit of the readers, NSCN was formed on 31st Jan 1980 after NNC signed the SHILLONG ACCORD in 1975 which was a total sellout of the Naga aspirations. AZ Phizo was in London and was not a signatory to this accord. But he also denied to condemn the same. That sealed the era of NNC and NSCN was born. Padmanabhaih ji should have known better than bungle up because AZ Phizo died on 30th April, 1990, 10 years after NSCN was formed.

We young Nagas grew up with an induced knowledge that we are Indians. But as we grow older and fill our heads with information and go along our day to day normal live we realize that we just don't fit into the so called India. Why? It just don't make sense at all. Everything is different. They say that's the beauty but is it not just a perspective? What is the reality? A perspective of those who wants to portray their induced notion of well being by keeping the reality hidden. We know the histories, maybe not important for you but the whole world give importance to it that's why history is an academic tool and we Nagas are a part of that whole world, we know how our parents and grandparents were tortured by the Indian soldiers just because we Nagas wanted to be left as we originally were. You take advantage of us just because we do not have a written history. Now we have it. You think we are backward, yes we are, and I suppose we are too backward to not even disregard history. Our time will come and this freedom issue will never die because no matter what happens what belongs to you belongs to you. Someone cannot just simply come and cut off my arm and make boundaries through my house and keep me and my family separated. You'll reap what you saw someday. Do not underestimate us just because our community is very, very, very small as compared to you. The world is not the same anymore. Even a single word can shake the whole world. As you say time will heal, I agree, but time can never heal the scars.

Well you are contradicting yourself Mr. IAS OFFICER (RETD) by saying that the first state created by India after independence was Nagaland in 1963 and you are saying there were multiple militant groups but there was only one political organization for the Nagas "The NNC" before the Shillong Accord 1975. It was only after the signing of the Accord that the NSCN-IM was formed in 1980. So please don't talk nonsense because the Britishers were long gone when multiple factions rose among the Nagas or as you say "So many militant groups or insurgency."

Im a naga from nagaland and I'm living a free life with all the political & human rights available to any other citizens of the free world.
So yes, I don't see any good in my own people's struggle or demand for freedom though I have immense respect for my culture, history and identity. In fact though we have come a long way we would have been gone far more ahead than we are now if not for this so called political movement. As this very movement is becoming somewhat of a hurdle towards our own path to proper growth and development. As a youth maybe I have different ideals about certain things in life but I will stand by my understanding that this movement is not one which can help us rather only take us behind.
Especially to even think of greater Nagalim, bringing all the nagas together is a far fetched dream. In the process Nagaland is only becoming a hub of some other tribes which are not recognised officially in nagaland which can if ignored and allowed will have a negative impact on the existing tribes of Nagaland.
We are all good the way we are and where we are at the moment, we should embrace this fact as God's will and strive to make our society grow and move along with the rest of the world.
Otherwise it will act like a curse even upon generations to come.

Historically Nagas are not Indian or Burmese.Naga national flag and Constitution is our identity.Likewise, Indian flag is a Indian identity.
I say yes to a lot of your points but certain points got my nerves and here is something from my side. Is it so wrong for the Nagas to unite and live as one? Families got divided just because of some outsiders vested interest. You think and talk and laugh keeping your perspective and your side first and that's how the misunderstanding between you and your neighbor begins. We Nagas were never understood decades back and we're still not understood. We are no fools and we understand how things work. We do understand the issues between Hindus and Muslims starting from the Indus period, migration of Aryans to till now, to Pakistan and to Bangladesh (please say you disregard this part of your own history too because history has no value for you). We know it all. Even the Britishers wanted to keep us out of the historical mess between Hindus and Muslims which persist to this day and we don't want this mess. Some even call them (Aryans ) foreigners. So, can we not call you foreigners? Are we wrong? Here is the fun part. They are named as insurgents. Now, my question is, is Taliban an insurgent group now?

Hearing him speak now I think he was never really serious about bringing an amicable solution to the Indo Naga political issue. I mean how could an interlocutor be so messed up about the origin of the organization he was engaged in a dialogue with?
For the benefit of the readers, NSCN was formed on 31st Jan 1980 after NNC signed the SHILLONG ACCORD in 1975 which was a total sellout of the Naga aspirations. AZ Phizo was in London and was not a signatory to this accord. But he also denied to condemn the same. That sealed the era of NNC and NSCN was born. Padmanabhaih ji should have known better than bungle up because AZ Phizo died on 30th April, 1990, 10 years after NSCN was formed.

During British rule,no one was allowed to enter NEFA except Christian Missionaries who converted Nagas enmasse which is the root cause of this separatist mentality as Nagas demanded Nagalim synonymous with Greater Nagaland.
