I think going from the pencil skirt to the circle skirt was a better choice ❤️ It looks more like the spiral shaves of wood left behind. It still looks really good though!
I'd forgotten about those! I think someone, (an aunt maybe?) bought me one for a birthday when I was little and filled in with pens and pencils. The "pattern" on the pencils was a lady with spikey hair wearing green workout gear, the full high leg leotard and leg warmers! The 80's were weird!
@@tamaraclare2059 My big sisters 1970's version of the pencil case was a pencil pained in psychedelic's meets paisley patters. Apparently the 80's designers were having LSD flashbacks? It's the only thing that explains the sports wear of that decade. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi
The freeze frame at the end with the patreon roll was the most 80s thing lol Would be interested to see the "pencil case" if just to see your process to address the structure while still having some function as a handbag
The inspiration photo is a piece from the fashion designer Christian Francis Roth! He was famous for his other fantastic, campy pieces in addition to the pencil shavings outfit, one notable example being a fabulous Crayola crayon dress that Fran Drescher wore on The Nanny!!
This looks like something Harper from Wizards of Waverly Place would wear, in the best way, I mean that as a compliment, it's so inspired and interesting, I love outfits like this.
I was just thinking this!!!! Had to look in the comments to see if someone else had the same thought because the outfits Harper had we're always so fun to look at!!!
its giving Moschino runway for sureeee- especially the way you styled it at the end with the Parisian blacks Id DIE to see this in a gown where the pencil shaving is one long coil as a skirt
I cannot recommend a bone folder highly enough for poking out corners! They do come in plastic rather than real bone if that's an issue, but it's such a useful little tool when you have points you have to turn.
This was such a cute and fun project! Your 80's end credits were fantastic! 🖤💛✏️ Also, your red hair is RAVISHING! Plus yes, please make the pencil bag!
Pencil skirt! Ha! I deeply love a pun and in the form of crazy clothing it just takes the cake, as they say! Thank you! Love your channel! And yes! Make the pencil bag/purse thing too!
Love that outfit. It would make anyone smile! I would make an "eraser" bag for this outfit. Not sure how close to an actual eraser to craft the bag but it would be fun to see it tried! It would be very meta to make a bag that looks exactly like an eraser out of wood. Or maybe make it a trompe l'oeil eraser in various fabrics but with real erasers hung from the handle on a silver chain (to match silver earring wires)?
That looks so fun and amazing, would love to see the pencil handbag! Though TBH at the mention of a pencil skirt, I actually thought of a peplum skirt, as in the straight (pencil?) part of the skirt in the pencil's colour, and the "peplum" in pencil shavings...
YAAAAASSSS please make the pencil bag!!!! Maybe create a puzzle box. The purse can only be opened by moving the purse a specific way?? Maybe pull out the “graphite tip” or twist off the eraser and metal part. The opportunities are ENDLESS!!❤❤❤
100% impractical and 100% fabulous. Great project. I would love to see you do a bag, but I can't decide if it should be larger than you are to make it silly or small so it could be used every day. Thanks.
@@HazarielAtelier On the large side it could be a bag to take to the gym or sport stuff like football. On the small side something tiny like a clutch with just enough room for phone and wallet.
Forget Ariel - with that hair you are definitly Merida from Brave and yes, your hair looks great! Have to say that when I saw the title I was convinced you were going to do the most awesome engineering type video on the web - I wasn't far wrong.
What a wonderful project, congratulations. Yes, please I want to see a pencil bag. Two quick tips. There is a machine foot for sewing vinyl, it is not very expensive and looks like a mini steam roller that helps to push the fabric. Also helps put a sheet of "baking paper" (I don't know the name in English or French, but it's a very thin sheet) between the vinyl and the machine when you're done just tear the paper and it will have made the sewing easier. Your channel is a source of inspiration. Thank you.
The pencil skirt would have been pun-tastic, but I like the pencil-shaving look of the circle skirt more. Love how this came out, and I think you would nail the pencil bag too!
the pencil bag in the image reminded me of how me and my sister just had giant penciles , they weren't anything unique just normal pencil but giant .. lmao one was orange and the other bright annoyingly pink .
@@HazarielAtelier oh right I forgot to say the outfit looks great and cute and I love the hair color is very gorgeous I was just thinking too much about my giant pencils and completely got lost in childhood thoughts 😂
Oh yeah I think you need the pencil purse! That was a great fun outfit I didn’t know I needed to see! Congratulations surviving sewing with vinyl it can be a real treat when it’s sticking to your machine!
Yay, I love the 80s too! The outfit turned out so cute. The minute you said "pencil skirt" I laughed but thought it wouldn't look as fun, I'm so glad you went with the circle skirt!!
I always love the interesting materials to work with. Most other crafting channels just use foam and hot glue for everything, but you always come up with creative and interesting ways to use the materials you have and it gives all your projects such a cool and professional vibe! I would love to see you make some more cosplay projects like moraine, I really enjoyed watching it! also your hair looks gorgeous!
My goodness, I cannot believe you made that!! I have been in love with that image for years!! The idea to go with vinyl and cork is genius, I absolutely LOVE the outcome!!! Thanks so much, I want to make my own now
Of course you need a pencil bag, DUH! Love the outfit, I was not aware there are wood fabrics! Then again, I was not aware there is a flippin glowing fairy fabric either. And the hair is so fabulous, like a real-life mermaid Ariel
Absolutely love! Watching on my little phone screen. Saw the title and thought, "she made a fringe-y shirt out if thousands of pencils strung together?!" What you made is much more wearable. 🥰 You always revive my joy for life. 🥰
I create purses all the time with cork and vinyl and I've never seen it made into clothing so thanks for that lol YES you should make a pencil purse!!!!
That answers my question about what this fabric is intended for. Out of curiosity, how well do bags made from the cork fabric wear? Do you find that you need to add a different fabric onto the bottom of the bags?
@@HarryLovesRuth I use Decovil light as an interfacing, I don't prefer cork, it does crack and wear over time but vinyl is great for bags and lasts a really long time.
I designed a pencil outfit once. That’s why this video popping up caught my attention. It was nothing like this clever outfit. It’s interesting to think about two totally different interpretations on the same object.
Omg I can't believe I've found this on RUclips, it's so niche! I had saved the original picture on my Pinterest board for ages but never knew how to recreate it ... thanks alot!

Oooohhhh I need to recreate this one for myself 😍 I'm an elementary teacher, and this is 100% the kind of thing I'd wear to school, the kids would love it
I never thought about cork being wood, but I guess you are right 😅 Not making it a "pencil skirt" (shapewise) was a great choice, as the flared skirt really gives pencil shavings vibes and looks really stunning. This is one of my favourite Ariel Costumes... or better to call it outfits as I totally see you wearing this in your every day life when you want to go out and look fashionable while shopping for craft suppies or fabrics etc.
I'm liking the new hair color! It's fun to change it up now and then. This was a fun project, I love the silly 80's vibes. You look cute in it. I vote yes to silly pencil bag, but I think it should be shorter. I'm imagining a hard sided, magnetic clasp bag made with that leftover vinyl and maybe make the eraser zip open separate. The closest to what I'm imagining is a round motorcycle saddle bag. I bet whatever you make will probably be better though.
Hazariel the red hair looks fantastic with your skin. Love it! Also YASsss!! This was a very fun video! I can't wait to see the purse/bag you make to go with it.
