I did journée du patrimoine last year before moving and went to see the “Archives de Paris” where there was the last letters of Marie Antoinette, the declaration that was written during the revolution (DDHC) and so many other related documents there was modern stuff too, where you could listen to live unopened post mail being read out loud and even read some yourself. There’s even a little garden to sit in before leaving since the place was a Castle before being transformed.
Journée du patrimoine has places that are never open during the year that you can visit then for completely free
