Nice overview. The bell 10 seems quite expensive but multiple density foam is a nice feature not many helmets have. Typically they just have the hard foam that helps pass safety testing but softer foam is more relevant for most crashes under 20mph or not directly to your dome. I think it's worth it.
I never really cared about full face with hard protection to much. I have many helmets, but only two with mips. 1 of them is downhill rated mips. Had a really nasty crash 2 months ago and got away with murder. Could have had like 15 fractures if i crashed few cm to the left. Luckly i got away. I also had light concusion and only later when i came back home from hospital the massive hit my DH rated helmet had taken right at the back of the helmet. The helmet is Giro Switchblade DH mips. From the damage on the helmet i realized that i would have probably died or had severe skull fractures if i didnt have this helmet. I also had badly sore neck and throat muscles because of the impact. The fact that i had DH rated mips helmet saved me many fractures. Funny thing is i wanted to take my summer non full face helmet because it was so hot, but changed to fullface because of the goggles lol., Even the women in the hospital told me the helmet probably saved me 6 months in hospital. Morale of the story, never cheap out on the helmet and protection stuff. Its the most important thing. Bike parts or even frame can be repaired. Bones and health can be permanently wrecked.
Interesting video. I've always wondered at what price point to you stop getting more protection, and just adding unnecessary extras. Sounds like the DLX is is close. When I was working at shops people buying the cheapest option possible with a helmet was always so frustrating. It's so worth it to buy a helmet that is going to provide the maximum protection...and the better one's are usually more comfortable too.
Yeah maybe a 400 helmet with the spherical technology, but without all the little bells and whistles would be nice. But looking at it from a companies perspective most people who can afford a $400 helmet would probably just go ahead and buy the $650 helmet anyways.
I wish more consumers would realize that👍🏾 I promise you if we stop paying these crazy prices they will come down. They gotta sell the inventory after they made it.
You laid it out real clearly man. good job

Keep in mind, you will be quicker to replace a $120 helmet after a big hit than a $650 one. May just make the $120 one safer.

There is the Giro Insurgent with Spherical at the $360 price point.
@@briancahalFox do this. The have a few duel density helmets at low price points
Wow that 180$ one looks really good!
$120???
@@janeblogs324 watch the whole video
@@janeblogs324 Yes it's $120. The $180 he didn't show, which is the DLX, has fidlock latch, mips & better lining.
The DLX version of the Sanction 2 which takes it's ques from the Full 10 is a better option and has a fidlock which I like a lot!
The bell mx 9 fasthouse is a great choice for about 250.
Great video. Old saying still valid today; got a $10 head, get a $10 helmet. I’ll go with the Full 10 please.
Awesome! Thank You. DLX is for me. --- Do you have any effective knee pads video?
I don’t. Haven’t tried all of the popular options. I run TLD stage and they are pretty good for trail stuff
They should call their best helmet the Bells and whistles
*One layer of EPS (outer) and one layer of EPP (inner).
What about $300 Bell mtb helmet?
650.00 is a complete ripoff for a helmet. Wish people would stop buying them so the price would come down.
