One other issue I didn't mention but suddenly seems like a big omission is proper chin strap tightness. I'm also guilty of not always adjusting it properly, but you should keep it tight so your helmet actually stays on if you ever need it!
funny the moment you said your going to talk about helmets. i instantly thought "chinstrap you muppet". its nice to see you recognise your own failing. :)
I have a size 8 hat size and that's a wee tight. I tried one of those full head and face protection but the neck ring wouldn't go over my head and took two guys to get it off.
My ebikes go 28-38 mph so I wear a modular motorcycle helmet. The ventilation is terrible when pedaling at lower pas though. The ebike doctor said anything over 20mph you want a full face helmet. I like having the visor and a lever sun shield. I can't find the best of both worlds yet.
I’ve worn everything from the old leather “hairnets” to the best helmets made for motorcycle and car racing. What’s really important is that you wear one. Whether I’m on my Harley or my e-bike I feel naked without one.
I was currently researching helmets, something I do from time to time as I ride Ebikes and Escooters. I don't ride ones beyond 20-30 mph but I'm riding in NYC which some of you I'm sure are familiar with due to many Urban Big Cities and smaller cities being a thing; which means heavy traffic, bumps, pot holes etc. I basically answered this question for myself by thinking this, sure a normal bike helmet is adequate to stop enough impact on my head at the speeds of 20 mph and less. HOWEVER, I don't just have a head, I have a face, and a nose and teeth I very much like to keep intact. A 10 mph face plant with a bike helmet may not kill you, but you're sure to lose teeth and bust up your face, sooooo which helmet do you think I'm choosing to get? Either BMX style full face guard or an actual Full Motocycle Helmet. It's that simple. $60, $80, $100, I don't care, I just want to protect my head and face. A small bump can knock you off your bike even at slow speed and there goes your teeth and now you have to pay out for dentist work and deal with the pain of all that. That's why I decided to switch my regular bike helmet for Full guard. Better safe than sorry as they say. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. I was being cheap when I got my first E-Bike. But Now I purchased an Lectric XP Lite and want to do it right. I also don't like the "Budget" excuse because if you can budget $50, you can budget $100 or $150. The only thing stopping someone from buying a $150 helmet if they budgeted $50 is time and habits. If you save $50 from a pay check, you can wait longer and save $100 then buy a $100 one. You also may buy a $7 coffee everyday and if you cut that habit out for 2 weeks you have $70 to spare. I never see people discuss or admit to this. A budget is not "what you feel comfortable with" it's what needs to be done to obtain freedom with your cash and being responsible with your money. People like to make up excuse about finances to avoid the man in the mirror for why they cannot afford this or that.
I'm in New York City too. I need a good helmet to protect my ugly face mad head when I'm on my escooter or Ebike. I usually go 20mph touch. Which do you use?
I got a full face motorcycle helmet too. A lot of people are on e-bikes. Most motorcycle accidents also happen at speeds of less than 30 mph so if you’re on a class 2 or 3 e-bike and ride 25-30 with the traffic through town, I would say accidents could be comparable so it’s worth it.
A neat feature of the Bern is the enlarged apertures that allow you to pass a D lock shank through so you can lock the helmet to your bike at the same time as the bike rail. I wish all cycle helmets had this convenient, no/low cost feature. Worth pointing out the most important safety aspect of any helmet is fit. Unless the helmet fits properly, protection will be severely compromised.
also worth mmentioning if your not gonna lock your helmet to the bike in some way for whatever reason always place your helmet on the floor also when your not using it never balance it on the bike or hang it off the bars if it drops and hits the floor you pretty much get a new helmet it might look fine but the interior foam can compress and deform permernantly which ruins its protective rating and you cant see the condition of the foam without cutting it open so just try to avoid any situation where it can fall

Hi Micah, how's it been going? Good I hope. Thanks to your videos, books and advice, my eBikes (5 now) are still running great and I have been very happy with your Vruzend kits. All of the battery packs I've built have been with Vruzend kits.. The best part is when I want to upgrade my cells or packs, the swap out of cells is super fast and easy. I agree with your last 2 helmet choices, but please throw that first POS in the trash. Helmets aren't about style, convenience or filming, they are about saving your life. Back in the 70's, Bell Helmets had an ad that said (to the effect); "If you have a $10 head, buy a $10 helmet, if yours is worth more, buy a Bell". I've taken that to heart and now I'm celebrating 50 years on 2 wheels. If I had bought some crap like the "Beanie", I'd be dead 10 times over. Just sayn! Here is a great helmet that won't break the bank, yet still protect you very well; HJC Adult CS-5N Solid White 3/4 Open Face Motorcycle Helmet DOT I bought a Black one off eBay, for daytime eBike & motorcycle riding in the So. Cal Heat of the day. Great fit and reasonable weight. I like it so much I bought another White one for nighttime eBike riding. Brand New @ $70 plus tax, with free shipping. Hard to beat that. BTW; your chin strap must be tight enough that when you turn your head quickly, the helmet stays in place and doesn't spin as you move. Ride safe and have fun. cheers Boots Langley La Mesa, Ca
I had a colleague that rode his bike to work every day. It was only a couple of miles so he didn't need a helmet. Then after he missed a couple days and came back with a big lump and bruise on the side of his head, after going to the hospital not doubt with a concussion, he changed his mind and got himself a brain bucket a.k.a. skid lid. Some people have to learn the hard way.
The Troy Lee Designs Stage helmet is a light (690 grams) and comfortable full face helmet that breathes incredibly well. I use it for Electric Unicycle riding in Las Vegas at temps above 90 Degrees F. It is my go to summer helmet! Has MIPS and Meets Certification for CPSC 1203, CE EN1078, ASTM F1952, ASTM F2032, and AS/NZS 2063.
I like the Outdoor Master line of helmets. They are useful for many outdoor activities including bicycling, skateboarding, kayaking, etc. So I opted for the swiss army knife of helmets and they are moderately priced $50 - $100 generally. Plus the nice simple shape gives me plenty of room to add my own decals and stickers which allows me to make the helmet mine and means I am more likely to use it. I never wore a helmet with my bicycle before. I always wore my favorite baseball cap instead. It wasn't until I was on my first ebike zipping down a hill; when my hat flew off my head and landed in the road, that I decided to wear a helmet. Not like the hat was protecting me but it did keep my bald head from getting sunburned. What I don't like the most about helmets is the price. For the most part if you take any kind of impact and your helmet still looks in good shape, you need to get a new one because you can't tell if the structure inside the material took any damage from the impact. Chances are it did. It becomes a balancing game of cost and safety and that alone puts a lot of people off from alternative forms of transportation.
The point you made about the way a camera mount could be a stress point or cause torsion wasn't something I had considered before. I'll definitely be thinking about protrusions like that when looking for helmets in the future.
Thanks for the info. In my years of riding road bikes I broke 2 helmets the hard way. Now that I am riding ebikes I am looking for something more substantial like your Bell helmet so my face has some protection. I appreciate the in depth review and will consider your critique as I make my choice!
Very informative. Another issue I see is people wearing their helmets too far back. The helmets my wife and I wear are from SENA. I really like the built in intercom system. It makes talking to each other a lot easier.
Good stuff Micah. Have gone shooting across the pavement off a motorcycle in a wreck. Cracked my helmet. The best you can afford is good to keep you alive. I always prefer a helmet after healing up from that road rash. Be Well.
Bro. Hocky helmet is the absolute best shape ! It protected my pretty face ! It allows for full views also. It survived a 40kw footscooter tumble . I wish I had been wearing knee pads elbow pads ,and gloves . They all went to scabsville bad.
Thanks for this video. I'm going from motorcycles to ebikes and it is weird to me that bicycle riders don't protect their head better. It was beaten in to my brain to wear a full face helmet even if you are only going a couple blocks to do some errands. The worse motorcycle accident that happened to someone i know happened when he got rear ended at a stop light and he didn't have a helmet on. He ended up with massive head trauma and unable to take care of himself. I would suggest if you are going faster than 20mph and definitely if you are going to be using main roads to get a dirt bike helmet. They usually go for around $300 and can provide plenty of protection. This is a weird case where the cheapest motorcycle helmet will protect more than the most expensive bicycle helmet. I would suggest if you are going to be going real fast to check out what a motorcycle store can offer for better protection. Personally i am going to go for dirt bike helmet and gloves as road rash won't kill you but it will keep me humble on the road.
yup i dont see the point of bicycle helmets there so weak and flimsy the only thing they could ever prevent is minor owies nearly every person I've seen get into a decent crash there helmets just split open like coconuts so bike helmets are pointless i would set the minimum for a helmet being a dirt bike helmet
you realize bicycle helmets are supposed to split open, right? Because if they didn't, that energy would've gone straight into your skull...... @@Sarge92
i personally wear a full face helmet on my ebike due to last crash i had car cliped me on road i was going 35kmh i completely shattered the chin bar on the cheap full face i had and im glad i was wearing it walked away with few scrapes and bruises
Agree. The full face is there to prevent massive facial reconstruction, a wired jaw, or getting your butt cheeks permanently grafted to your face. I'm not wearing one to prevent a scratch. I use a Bell Super 2R (Super 3R is the current model). Light weight, well vented, and MIPS'ed
Always wear some kind of a helmet if you are riding on the road. I have no doubt that a helmet saved my life in a bike vs car accident over 25 years ago. I still have a permanent headache from that accident, I had a severe concussion at the time. My Gyro helmet (similar to the LEM in the video) was completely destroyed in the accident to the point the hard shell was in 2 pieces, held together by the chin strap. After the car cut me off, and slammed on their brakes. I impacted the back of the car with my helmet hard enough that inertia took me, bike and all, completely over the car. I ended up in the hospital for several days due to multiple broken bones and a concussion, but I survived. Without that extra protection from the helmet, I have no doubt my skull would have been as compromised as the helmet was.
I use a quad helmet idk what one it is I know you probaly won’t anser but if you do How many battery’s should I use for my e bike I would sickle 4 miles and 4 miles Bach And thar a good bit of hills And I would probaly do pedal pedal switch assist up a hill Can you please calculate this for me By the way I’m on a 24 inch tire bike and I’m 12
Hi, I really enjoyed this video. I wear an open face helmet for warm days and now for the winter, I wear a full face helmet. Both are DOT certified. Thank you for this video 😎
I broke my foot riding an e-bike. Cruising around 18mph, hit a mud patch covered by leaves and I went tumbling. If it weren't for my helmet and the fact it cracked, I'd definitely be in the hospital for a few days vs out-patient physical therapy for the foot. Learned my lesson and now I always ride with it and bought a MIPS helmet to replace it.
I've been looking for a good helmet but got discouraged by the Amazon and wish helmets I kept seeing... A lot of people kept saying they're too light to be real and they seem like a good investment but only at 10 mph. My bike does 30+ mph so I'd need a full face.... But a cheap one because my head isn't worth much. 😂
@@mudpuppy8740 It's quite common to hit your face in a fall from a bike. I've fallen from a motorbike at low speeds (mud on a roundabout) and I hit the side of my face on a kerb stone and had pain in my jaw for days. Thankfully I was wearing a full face helmet or it might have been broken bones and plastic surgery instead of aches and pains. I agree full face is overkill on a standard e-bike / cycle but on powerful bikes going 30mph+ I think full face could be a good investment.
i have two helmets at the moment. One is by Thousand and the other is a full face helmet i got off amazon. its weird but i like wearing the full face for commuting. it has a built in sun shade and keeps my face safe. I just don't trust drivers on the road and definitely don't trust a regular helmet for daily commuting. ive always been about safety first but if im just crusing around or going down to the park ill use my regular helmet. love your videos btw!
I tend to ride around 12-15mph I use the same skateboard helmet. If I was traveling faster with faster moving cars I would probably invest more. What about gloves?
Hi Micah, I found your page cuz I'm looking to get the Lectric eBike 2.0. I already have a $160 helmet cuz I care about my brain. Thanks for sharing all you know about eBikes.
Been watching your stuff for a couple weeks now great content. Just purchased a Revv1 FS with a bunch of their accessories over Black Friday. Super excited. Shout out to Tel Aviv (the San Diego of Israel). Been there a few times. One good e-bike helmet to check out is S1’s Retro Lifer E-helmet. They come from the skateboarding multi impact world. NTA 8776 Certified for E-Bikes and E-Transport up to 28 MPH; Certified Multi-Impact (ASTM); Certified High Impact (CPSC) They’re about $120 and you can add a visor. They have holes in the back for air… which fits a long shackle u-lock and I can lock my helmet to my bike. They were just 50% off over Black Friday
tx for the vid, i have been thinking of getting a full face helmet but wasn’t sure if i needed one for my ebike but it can go 20 mph+ and i worry about a car hitting me, especially making tricky left hand turns. ebikes are new in my town and cars have no idea how to share the road with us
I finally settled in the SENA Bluetooth Intercom Orange Bike helmet. I think I paid $200+……I see you mentioned visibility of Complete motor helmets, for me,Sweating and I like to hear the noises around me. How’s hearing and how much heat does a Motor helmet provide? Danke.
I've been riding bikes between school and work since middle school. And I've never worn a helmet. Now that I am looking to learn how to ride a motorcycle, I am in the market for a full fae motor cycle helmet. I recently bought a new electroc bike in january 2023 that reaches a top speed of 42 mph and I am still yet to wear a helmet. After this video I am inspired to buy a motorcycle helmet and use it with my ebike until I get a motorcycle
I am one of those that can attest to needing a good helmet, I've been side swiped twice by cars, they just drive off and you are left with the problems, a broken collar bone on my second and if I had not been wearing my full face helmet on the first one, I would have broken my jaw, nice big scuff marks on the underside of my helmet and thank God I was wearing a leather jacket, that to was pretty scuffed up as I landed on my chest with a 40KG backpack on my back (On my way to work with laptop etc.), the helmet and jacket saved my bacon there. I now have a faster bike (more acceleration) and better breaking (Have not had an incident since) and my awareness level is at 20/10...... Can't do it otherwise... A full face helmet when you have to contend with city driving, zero bike lanes, cars, busses, trucks and so one, If you are not wearing a full face helmet you are in danger, believe me, coming off a bike a 30KMH with zero protection is really really bad, especially when there is traffic around you.
My stepdad used to have a motor bike, he sold it but kept the helmet, i kept his helmet to use on my mtb, its light, comfy and safe... I trust it.. Should i?
I have the Bell helmet, i use it to ride my fat bike E-bike. doing 28 miles per hour and crashing is not worth not having a full face helmet, and the matt black looks super cool.
I had a bonk on the back of my head the first week I had my bike last summer - right in front of my doctor's office lol. I was still getting used to riding it, and took the downhill turn a little too fast. I was wearing a Bern Macon 2.0 with mips, so the only thing that was injured was my elbow skin and my pride. Even though the helmet wasn't rated for top ebike speeds, it took my weight and momentum really well. I also don't tend to ride at my bike's top speed since I'm usually just vibing around the neighborhood and running errands or riding for fun, so a standard bike helmet was enough for me. It's also possible to purchase a visor and the light attachment for it, similar to the Hudson model, and you can even get a winter lining for it. I bought both of mine for around $60 each, but they do go on sale ocassionally. Thought I'd mention it for people who have class 1 or 2 bikes that top out at 20mph. I definitely want to get a full face helmet for winter riding, though. Bike season is so short in Minnesota! Do they fog up at all?
Thanks for this video. I think I'm going with the Bern Hudson. Not expensive but looks better and hopefully is more comfortable to wear than my bike helmet.
I just bought Tony Hawks helmet by Triple 8 for $16. I think it was $55 but it was like new. What's funny to me is I started commenting and then you started talking about it. Of all the helmets out there and the fact I just found your channel, well, pretty cool. My helmet is still in the mail. I was sold because I trust Tony hawk. He would not recommend junk. The padding looks like it's different than the usual stuff out there. As far as how much is my head and face worth? I dunno but the extra visibility probably decreases the probability of getting in an accident. I ride the aventon sinch and compared to the way I used to ride as a kid, no helmet and no concern for blind spots and alleys, I'm already using my head for what it was meant for, thinking.
I have found a lot of your videos very helpful as I navigate my way through the ebike market. This one was especially helpful because the helmet market is really confusing. Fortunately I have a big head which cuts down my choice by a lot.
That cheap helmet landed someone I know in the ER with a concussion (not to mention a $10,000 ER Bill!!) from hitting a small pot hole at a low speed in a scooter! Highly recommend against it
I mount a usb webcam camera on the bike and plug it into the stereo that stays with me. Half the time I’m going across the block with only the 12v accessory battery and don’t wear a helmet. Nice to have a freewheel hub motor that way you can use it as a pedal bike when going short distances or when your battery dies you can make it to an outlet
For a Go Pro, putting it somewhere with the frame between you and it is best. Same with anything mounted to the Handlebar. If you fly forward, you don't want mirrors to rip your wrists off or a bottle holder to turn you into iron man
I wear an Alpinestars s10 carbon helmet, for which I paid $850 I ride the Apollo Phantom 60 volt so it goes a little fast Plus I have a Troy Lee Designs I paid $340 and a Bontrager Blaze wavecel helmet, which I paid $420 for but I only wear the Alpinestars now it's so light, but that's 1585 Canadian dollars my head is worth that many times over is why I paid what I did plus I'm not in my 20 or 30 anymore if I was I wouldn't even wear one age does make you smarter that's for sure
Wow, very informative, thanks for the video. I am looking to buy an electric bike. My non-electric bike was stolen. I have had a Bern helmet for a while. I really like it, but now that I might be riding a bike that goes 30mph, and full face helmet seems like a good idea.
I have something similar to the LEM Motivair but during the summer months I have to wear a skullcap to make sure the top of my head doesn't get fried. If the Bern had been available where I live I would have preferred that.
I already bought your DIY LiIon batteries. So glad you did this helmet video, I was looking for good options for my family to start e-biking together in the Spring! This was very helpful. I really want to get started on a solar system, so if I get chosen I'd definitely like a copy of that one. PS I also enjoyed vicariously living through you purchasing the mini Chinese "explorer" truck for your DAD. Thanks for the great videos. My next project is probably a 2WD DIY E-BIKE. Thanks for following your passions! Glen

I bought the first skate boarding helmet because I liked the look. The XXL is 20 dollars more but I still got it. I have a big head that's quite tall and it folds my ears down :( Cannot wear it. Returned it today
I have always under helmeted to keep the weight down, but then I've always been lucky. Unlike some of my friends, I've never smashed my face into the ground hangliding, or into a mast sailing, or suffered head injuries mountain biking. Instead I break arms, collar bones, and smash knees. So maybe the moral is, wear knee and elbow pads was well as a helmet, which of course I never did. Now at sixty three all those injuries have coaught up with me, and I cant ride anymore, so I've brouaght an electric scooter, we'll see how that goes.
I had to laugh about that triple 8 lid. A while back I spend quite a bit of time trying to figure out what it was, as I figured that if you wore it all the time, then it must be good and safe... Lots of good tips here. Thanks for putting his out.
@WhatsApp +➀➁➃⓪➂➇➁➂⓪➀➃ Damn, whatsapp, I must be the luckiest guy in the world. Last week you told me that I won a bike, this week you are telling me that I won a helmet. What will it be next week?????
A bicyclist is more often going to travel faster, a skateboarder is more likely to do high flying stunts that are more than likely to incur an emergency room visit. Which one is higher risk for worse damage? I wonder if the best helmet standards should be urged on both.
Thanks for the recommendations. I have been looking for a warm weather half helmet for EBike commuting and that Bern Hudson seems like a great choice. I love my DOT Polo helmet, but in the summer it is too warm!
Hey, there. I'm a new follower to your channel and I find what you're saying to be very informative. Thank you very much. I don't currently have a helmet for that matter I don't even have an E bike or E scooter but I'm definitely in the market for both andbI was also looking for some head protection.
If its not crash rate its just a pretty hat. Get which ever motorcycle helmet fits your style and is crash rated to your satisfaction. Yes there are different level of protection rating.
the only reason to buy motorcycle helmet with black glass is 1. to protect full head 2. to hide ur face 3. motorcycle helmets looks better than normal bike helmets 4. to protect eyes from flies 5. matt color is best
If you ride an ebike or escooter that goes over 10 mph. Just get a helmet, period. Sometimes it's not about how fast you are going. It's about how fast they are going. And how fast you smack the ground. You can be standing still and fall the wrong way and do major damage.
But if you meant like those electric motorcycles then thats just another level on its own. And i really wonder what kind of information is their in your electric motorcycle book? Is it as detailed as the other books such as ones for diy electric bicycle or diy li ion batteries? Curious to find out

My goal is to commute the 15 miles or so (one way) on very hilly very rough and patchy asphalt. Your videos are very helpful, I thank you good sir. There seems to be about 10 different versions with no explanation on what any of them offer as far as features or lack thereof. I'm about ready to just close my eyes and point. What are the differences? What features do you find useful? Are the extra features worth the cost? Things like that. Maybe a good video idea. Also not a ton of info on front chain ring size, just another place where I have had a hard time finding info.

I've taken that to heart and now I'm celebrating 50 years on 2 wheels. If I had bought some crap like the "Beanie", I'd be dead 10 times over.
Just sayn!
Here is a great helmet that won't break the bank, yet still protect you very well;
HJC Adult CS-5N Solid White 3/4 Open Face Motorcycle Helmet DOT
I bought a Black one off eBay, for daytime eBike & motorcycle riding in the So.
Ride safe and have fun.
cheers

Thanks for putting this together for us, we appreciate what you do sir!
How much is it
Hey I’m also in Vegas. I need to buy a helmet. Would you still recommend the Troy Lee
Get a helmet with MIPS, no matter how cheap or expensive.
Well done and appreciate your comments about how things like cameras can effect the safety of the rider.
Thanks for the info. In my years of riding road bikes I broke 2 helmets the hard way. Now that I am riding ebikes I am looking for something more substantial like your Bell helmet so my face has some protection. I appreciate the in depth review and will consider your critique as I make my choice!
New to E-scooters and looking for the safest. Thank you for the info.
Very informative. Another issue I see is people wearing their helmets too far back.
The helmets my wife and I wear are from SENA. I really like the built in intercom system. It makes talking to each other a lot easier.
If you have a $50 head get a $50. If you have a $200 head get a $200 helmet. Simple math.
I'd pay up to 1000 dollars to keep my head. Any more is too much, i'd rather lose it.
I got a $50 helmet, a bus hit me and I ended up with a concussion. I highly recommend anything better than that
You mean y
If you have a fifty dollar wallet. Or a $200 wallet
@@eduardocampos3643😂
Past $100 even $50 most helmets are literally just a higher price on name/style.
Personally i am going to go for dirt bike helmet and gloves as road rash won't kill you but it will keep me humble on the road.
yup i dont see the point of bicycle helmets there so weak and flimsy the only thing they could ever prevent is minor owies nearly every person I've seen get into a decent crash there helmets just split open like coconuts
so bike helmets are pointless i would set the minimum for a helmet being a dirt bike helmet
fortunately my current commute takes me on residential back roads. only about a mile
you realize bicycle helmets are supposed to split open, right?
Would love a video about the pros and cons of baskets, trunks, racks, etc. for ebikes. Great video about helmets and will help me with my choices!
I use a quad helmet idk what one it is I know you probaly won’t anser but if you do How many battery’s should I use for my e bike
I would sickle 4 miles and 4 miles Bach
And thar a good bit of hills
And I would probaly do pedal pedal switch assist up a hill
Can you please calculate this for me
By the way I’m on a 24 inch tire bike and I’m 12
Hi, I really enjoyed this video. I wear an open face helmet for warm days and now for the winter, I wear a full face helmet. Both are DOT certified. Thank you for this video 😎
Currently looking for a helmet because I'll be taking the basic rider course next month. Thanks for the tips!
Just takes 10 mph to die from headinjury
Concussion and CTE kill
I've been looking for a good helmet but got discouraged by the Amazon and wish helmets I kept seeing... A lot of people kept saying they're too light to be real and they seem like a good investment but only at 10 mph. My bike does 30+ mph so I'd need a full face.... But a cheap one because my head isn't worth much. 😂
Have a look at Bell motorcycle helmets open face. Think harley Davidson style, looks almost like a bycicle helmet but much safer.
You won't be full head smashing into something on your bike, helmets are a cushion from your head bouncing off the pavement
The skate boarder ski boarder helmets are really really cool looking
I tend to ride around 12-15mph I use the same skateboard helmet. If I was traveling faster with faster moving cars I would probably invest more. What about gloves?
I just bought a motorcycle helmet for my son when he rides. Average speed he does 25 to 30. Max 35.
NTA 8776 Certified for E-Bikes and E-Transport up to 28 MPH; Certified Multi-Impact (ASTM); Certified High Impact (CPSC)
They’re about $120 and you can add a visor. They have holes in the back for air… which fits a long shackle u-lock and I can lock my helmet to my bike.
They were just 50% off over Black Friday
tx for the vid, i have been thinking of getting a full face helmet but wasn’t sure if i needed one for my ebike but it can go 20 mph+ and i worry about a car hitting me, especially making tricky left hand turns. ebikes are new in my town and cars have no idea how to share the road with us
Thanks. We don't emphasize helmets enough! It only takes one header over your handlebars to realize how important helmets are.
Danke.
I got full face for winter, something like the berner hot temp outside
Brilliant. I love that Ebike Manifesto... I own the Radrunner Plus but I am too scared to ride it 😔 You've taught us so much. Shalom Shalom 🙂🇮🇱
Most excellent information, I’ve been considering an upgrade!
Glad I won but haven’t heard anything else?
Should i?
Best helmet video I've seen so far, big thanks!
This is a life saver when you need one the most!
I have the Bell helmet, i use it to ride my fat bike E-bike. doing 28 miles per hour and crashing is not worth not having a full face helmet, and the matt black looks super cool.
Helmets are always a pain in the butt to find... Thanks for the tips!
I got an e-bike that goes up to 20 mph but I’m so glad I got a dual sport motorcycle helmet for it. Can’t imagine my jaw not being protected
Good video. I hav3 a agv moto helmet a bern and a faro unit 1 plus I have a full face bmx helmet. I ride a talaria and a onewheel gt.
Fortunately I have a big head which cuts down my choice by a lot.
can you do a full face helmet update? ebikes are getting faster and there are more accidents than ever
If you fly forward, you don't want mirrors to rip your wrists off or a bottle holder to turn you into iron man
I wear a way lighter helmet, but now I start considering something safer. Thanks!
ThAnK You!
I appreciate your videos on how to make Ebike battery packs a lot.
Thank you excellent video as always.
9:20🤣 this really made me laugh as if there's no more tommorow!🤣
I wear an Alpinestars s10
carbon helmet, for which I paid $850 I ride the Apollo Phantom 60 volt so it goes a little fast Plus I have a Troy Lee Designs I paid $340 and a Bontrager Blaze wavecel helmet, which I paid $420 for but I only wear the Alpinestars now it's so light, but that's 1585 Canadian dollars my head is worth that many times over is why I paid what I did plus I'm not in my 20 or 30 anymore if I was I wouldn't even wear one age does make you smarter that's for sure
What is your opinion about the Lumos helmets that have integrated lights. Front, back, and directional indicators.
Thanks
Wow, very informative, thanks for the video. I am looking to buy an electric bike. My non-electric bike was stolen. I have had a Bern helmet for a while. I really like it, but now that I might be riding a bike that goes 30mph, and full face helmet seems like a good idea.
Cheers Keanu
Glen
@WhatsApp +➀➁➃⓪➂➇➁➂⓪➀➃ BS bottom-feeding scammer! Don't ever respond to these whatsup scammers. So pathetic and sad. Do something legitimate with yourself other than posing as legitimate people and preying on hard-working people
Thanks for the video I liked it a lot.
Nice, all the helmets look good for their purposes. I don't have one yet, but I'm looking into finding the perfect one for me.
I bought the first skate boarding helmet because I liked the look. The XXL is 20 dollars more but I still got it. I have a big head that's quite tall and it folds my ears down :( Cannot wear it. Returned it today
Very good video Micha! "Dorky bike helmet" 😂 So far I always use a proper scooter helmet, but this video made me thinking of buying some other types.
Should I wear a full faced helmet for an electrical scooter?I don’t want to look dumb or like if I’m doing to much if I wear one
I personally wear a full face motorcycle helmet on my vsett 10+, protecting your brain and face is more important than the opinion of strangers
Would you be able to recommend a helmet which is for narrower heads?
I am in the market for a new helmet. Thanks for this video!
How is the full face mountain bike helmet in hot weather? I'm looking for a full face helmet for weather weather ( think Florida Keys)
Triple 8 has a dual certified MIPs helmet that I have used for over a year.
Very important information Micah, thank you!
Finally! The video i was looking for.
Nice overview. Like to see a video on the Surron. They becoming popular and looking to upgrade from my Eunorau
Is a helmet not safe for bicycle use safe for skate boarding? Is one more likely than the other to risk a more severe head injury?
A bicyclist is more often going to travel faster, a skateboarder is more likely to do high flying stunts that are more than likely to incur an emergency room visit. Which one is higher risk for worse damage? I wonder if the best helmet standards should be urged on both.
Thanks for the recommendations. I have been looking for a warm weather half helmet for EBike commuting and that Bern Hudson seems like a great choice. I love my DOT Polo helmet, but in the summer it is too warm!
@WhatsApp +➀➁➃⓪➂➇➁➂⓪➀➃ yeah... I doubt it. What's app numbers touting prises are scams
Thanks Micah. Great vid. On the topic of motorcycle helmets. Where are you at with your Honda e-bike conversion?
Hey, there. I'm a new follower to your channel and I find what you're saying to be very informative. Thank you very much. I don't currently have a helmet for that matter I don't even have an E bike or E scooter but I'm definitely in the market for both andbI was also looking for some head protection.
Good info...thanks!
If its not crash rate its just a pretty hat. Get which ever motorcycle helmet fits your style and is crash rated to your satisfaction. Yes there are different level of protection rating.
Thanks for your sharing. Really appreciate what you do.
the only reason to buy motorcycle helmet with black glass is
1. to protect full head
2. to hide ur face
3. motorcycle helmets looks better than normal bike helmets
4. to protect eyes from flies
5. matt color is best
If you ride an ebike or escooter that goes over 10 mph. Just get a helmet, period. Sometimes it's not about how fast you are going. It's about how fast they are going. And how fast you smack the ground. You can be standing still and fall the wrong way and do major damage.
Thanks for information. A helmet can save your life
enjoy your informative to the point videos, thx
Hi I am a bike commuter with asthma I was wondering if an ebike might help with my asthma?
What about protecting the top of your head from the sun with the holes in the e bike helmet
But if you meant like those electric motorcycles then thats just another level on its own. And i really wonder what kind of information is their in your electric motorcycle book? Is it as detailed as the other books such as ones for diy electric bicycle or diy li ion batteries? Curious to find out
Helmet should come before the e-bike, must have!
I have enjoyed your videos, I am first time e-biker looking into a conversion kit for my old (but good quality) mountain bike, I have settled on bafang 750w mid drive, I am a heavier rider so i am going for a large 48v 20ah battery with big5 cells. My goal is to commute the 15 miles or so (one way) on very hilly very rough and patchy asphalt. Your videos are very helpful, I thank you good sir. Any advice from you or the community on the above setup would be appreciated.
The only part of the puzzle that I can't seem to find much information on is the displays.
