    The Myoko area is about to be reborn by a Singaporean investment company. It will become an international ski resort like Niseko and Hakuba in the next few years.

    It’s only quiet because you are there early 2023.
    Not many foreigners were organised to get there early 2023 as most people were unsure of if it was going to open up late 2022 and never pre booked anything.
    We were possibly there that day if it was January/february 2023 as I remember waiting in that top line and that part of the mountain hadn’t been open for a day or two.
    Come Jan to March 2024 the foreign invasion hits. I know so many people going and the place is very booked up. No accomodation up near akakura

    Hows the rental drive from Nagano to Myoko and around Myoko? Havent tried driving in winter before - are the roads mostly cleared and easy to drive?

    • @didibryan
      @didibryan  24 дня назад +1

      Most of the main roads are fine, but some of the small roads in the villages may be tricky. I would definitely recommend getting a car with 4 wheel drive.

    Hi guys, have you done Nozawa Onsen as well? And if so, which did you prefer out of the two?

      Glad you're interested to give this a shot. Jan is a great time to go! In terms of tour packages, I would recommend some of the tours to the yuzawa area which can include hotel and transportation. www.jre-travel.com/seasonal/ski/ (link is in japanese)

    Beautiful video. How did you hold the camera, or did you have someone else hold it for you?

    Are there any backcountry or side country options in this area?

    • @didibryan
      @didibryan  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yes there are plenty. We didn't do any, but some of the other travelers in our accomodation spent their entire time riding in the backcountry.

    Hi! I'll be heading to Myoko in Jan 2024 . Do you have any advice for finding discounted for the Combined Akakura Onsen & Kanko lift ticket? Did your accommodation offered discounts on tickets for this season? If they did what's the pricing like if you are able to share? Thanks!

    • @didibryan
      @didibryan  9 месяцев назад

      We unfortunately didn't have any discounts for Akakura, but our accomodation did give us a slight discount for Ikenotaira.

      @@didibryan Thank you for the response! Good to know.
      I hope the accommodation discounts continue this season. Just heard from my pension host that the area revamped the discount system for 2024 and was recommended to purchase online via other websites before comming.

    If I'm staying at Lotte Arai, do you recommend doing Akakura Kanko as a day trip for my beginner-ish snowboarder wife, or stick to Lotte Arai for her?

    • @didibryan
      @didibryan  7 месяцев назад

      Will you have a car? If she's fine with the same few runs then you can stay but might be nice to check out some different slopes at some point

      You can just get the lift tickets when you get there!
