knock it off, it's not a kids show our church sermon. let your hair down relax and swear habit.... you might find it liberating from your oppressive conservatism
Another excellent video, made all the more special by your dead pan delivery style and Austrian dry sense of humour! Thank you and please keep them coming as they are very educational as well.
I try to get to Japan every year. As an Auatralian it's only a 10 hour flight, compared with 24 hours to Europe. Australia has a similar problem to the US, in that Vail Resorts has taken over a number of our major ski areas, and they have priced many skiers out of the market with $250 plus day passes etc. I can go to Japan for three weeks (including flights), for less than a week in equivalent accomodation in Australia. You also have to take into account the difference in quality of resorts, Oz has small hills, a short season and lousy snow. So well done American Corporate skiing! Stuffing it up for the whole world!
I skied Hokkaido way back in the 1980s. It was lovely. The only thing was that they had loud music blaring from loudspeakers EVERYWHERE. You couldn’t get away from it to enjoy the lovely landscape in silence, or the soothing “shushing” of skiiing. Is that still the case? I don’t hear any music. I’ve been to Japan more recently, not skiing, and it was awesome. Beautiful, clean, kind people. A lot more people speak pretty good English.
The Vallon sunglases look very cool on you, would not mind to walk around in Obertauern with a pair of them on my nose! Video is btw awsome and very informative. Thnx a lot for making it and sharing your experiences with us.
This is the first video I've seen of this channel (as I'm planning a trip to Niseko in February). Thank you so much for your content! Love the dry delivery of humor as well as your rankings of useful categories. Also 100% on the American/Canadian crowds and prices being nuts. Crowds especially ruin skiing on peak days (I live in Seattle), but mid-week skiing is a lot of fun.
Enjoyed this video - a fair assessment - but I noticed that you mentioned the word onsen once briefly at the very end. Onsens are another reason to ski in Japan !
Niseko is one of the best powder mountains in the world. The apres ski scene is getting better all the time for younger people , but currently it’s probably the best family destination as Japan is so safe and clean generally.
A fellow snowboarder here, he is really the YT goat of showing different resorts and how he rides them. Very informative and good information, due to him i m planning to visit ost tyrol hopefully this year and japan. I was expecting a video for this season's march snow dump in ost tyrol sadly i was in normal tyrol 😢
Watching this has figures and travel time going through my head.....seeing if it would be possible for me to make the trip across the Pacific...from the east coast....
Excellent review. After this year's sad ski weather and snow fall in Europe, skiing in Japan is looking really appealing. You have put Japan squarely on my list of must ski areas.
A note on more than one ski lift going to the same general area. This is a result of most resorts today being amalgamations over time of smaller resorts. So for instance in Hirafu (Niseko) the reason why The Ace Hut and the King Bell Restaurants are so close is that they were once owned by separate resorts. Hope this helps.
Very impartial and resourceful information. I have been skiing in Japan in every season, had been to Europe a few times in recent years, and only 1-2 times in N. America and New Zealand. I shared almost exactly the same opinions as you. In fact if self drive, there are considerable ski resorts of small size in Japan for one-day skiing that are very enjoyable as well.
Canada has some great places that don't suffer with huge lift lines - Fernie, Red Mountain and Whitewater. All of those resorts are on the Powder Highway.
For sure you are unique! Nonetheless, always so accurate and what a great overall judgement of reality. (Specially your take on the prices between USA-Canada-Europe etc). Been to most of your places of reference and you have it wright. Love your humour or is it humor ? Great job. thanks
I was in Hakuba for the week in Feb and it was great !! the price for the lift cant be beat. I live in Cali and the price is off the chart. if you have the change Japan ski/boarding is a must !! Great video, keep it up
Great video, I skied a few places in Japan in my 4 years there. I would add one point that if you ski volcanos, the slopes are often steep higher up and flatter lower down. That, coupled with the lower vertical drop compared to Europe orthe US, meant the demanding skiing was quite limited. Lots of fun still to be had though.
Great comparison, I totally agree. Powder Alps rules them all but Japan is the snowiest place in the world!! So it's on my bucket list that's for sure.
Yeah, Slippery Slope upload! How did you survive to pizzabox at the top of Otaru! I reckon I'm just a tiny bit shorter than you, and the exit ramp of that chairlift was impossible! Comes in so low that my knees were up by my ears.
You put a lot of work into these vids and I am here for it! Such a fun and informative intro into Japanese skiing and gives me much to chew on while I plan a trip (one day)!
10/10 content, as always. Japan has been at the top of my bucket list for a while now and this year's very rough Whistler winter season has me thinking of finally going for it. Hoping to do a trip with both my dad and my son eventually. My pops did get out there once but got super unlucky and somehow picked a week with very little snowfall. Tree skiing with endless powder sounds good to me!
Just discovered your channel (and subscribed). Hope to ride in Japan next season, may be in combo with some surfing. I'll wear Vallon, if I win, promise.
I guess the Tahoe area and Mammoth isn't on your radar for comparison. That said, Japan just isn't talked about much, so thanks for a much needed look at this part of the skiing world. Cheers!
I liked this video, still, it could be even better if you keep the summary and written comments longer so we don't have to rewind and pause. Thank you.
Wow. I’m an ageing British snowboarder that is now lucky to spend one week a season shredding. I love your vlogs, good humour, great content and very well edited. Nice! I’ve just sold my Anon M4s as they are shit and far too expensive! I need goggles for next season 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I was quite surprised about the prices for Europe season passes, thought they would be less. I'm happy with my season pass for my semi local ski resort (Sappee) costing only 140e from preseason sale. Bought it last season and also now have bought it for the upcoming season. Sappee ain't a big mountain or anything but southern Finland doesn't have that big ski resorts to begin with because its very flat. Japan is on my bucket list for places to visit for sure and now maybe even more. Great video altogether!
Definitely need a snowboarding trip to Japan at some point! seems a little trickier to figure out the logistics that Europe though. Maybe next year to avoid the olympic rush
Been in Japan for business a couple of times and just in summer - eh klar... I love it. One day I'll make it. Until then I enjoy living here in the middle of the alps.
Thanks, Love your straight forward comparison, convinced to check out japow this coming January, wanted to visit asahidaki, any vlog in this regard? Thx.
First time in Niseko last winter. Can't recommend it enough. Some of the best snow conditions. Very reasonable pricing (compared to US). I'm an advanced beginner and the runs were green / cruisey blues in my opinion. Not nearly crowded as other North American resorts. We plan to return and explore other resorts.
Great video, very accurate. The only thing I will add is if you get seriously injured skiing in Japan as I did there will be no real pain relief, they do not allow any opium based medication and its illegal to bring your own.
Excellent video, super helpful as a group of us Skiwis are looking to go to Japan in Jan or Feb next year. If we go to Hakuba, would you recommend the last 2 weeks of Jan or the last 2 weeks of February for best snow conditions. We want to avoid the Chinese New Year crowds too…
Amazing video, these beautiful snowy clips took a toll on my mental health knoving that I will not ski in the close future SUMMER:( And ofc great looking sunglasses;)
Excellent content, I really enjoy your videos. Planning to nomad in Austrian Alps for 2-3 months next season, any recommendations for family friendly locations/villages/cities?
what's the resorts you would suggest regarding for best bets on a lot of fresh snow ? and what time of the year ? nice video btw. how long were you staying in Japan?
I'd say prime time is mid January. Though I enjoyed Honshu, Hokkaido is a true winter wonderland. Furano was one of my favs. Will have a dedicated video about it later this year.
Not sure where you have been skiing in North America, skied WinterPark A-basin / Brek in Colorado and neither had issues with lift lines, Canada is even better, often get runs at Sunshine Village down the road from Banff where our group are the only ones on the run. My memory of skiing in Europe was way worse.
I couldnt stop laughing everytime time you said "Cluster Fuck"🤣Im so keen to go skiing in Europe and Japan now! Im from Australia and we do have ski resorts, but they are very small and not much snow during the season. Awesome videos mate!!😄
This very informative review was marred by unnecessary vulgarity. Frequent use of f-bombs was off-putting.
Fun police incoming! Think of the children!!! THE....CHILDREN!!!!!... 🤣🤣🤣
Then don't watch it
It's for adults. I don't think most children care either at this point in 2024.
knock it off, it's not a kids show our church sermon. let your hair down relax and swear habit.... you might find it liberating from your oppressive conservatism
Thats why I’m fucking here 👍
This dude is GOAT of all ski related YT videos. The Legend
Moraz u Japan skijat,bio sam 13 puta
Another excellent video, made all the more special by your dead pan delivery style and Austrian dry sense of humour! Thank you and please keep them coming as they are very educational as well.
Skiing in Japan has always been on my bucket list.
It's amazing!!
Same here, but I cannot get myself onto a plane for how long it takes to get there…
its the best been going for 10 years (snowboarding)
I try to get to Japan every year. As an Auatralian it's only a 10 hour flight, compared with 24 hours to Europe. I’d love to see a video comparing Honshu to Hokkaido, and the best resorts that each have to offer!
I am a 10 year old swiss Freerider and 2024 was the best powder season ever if your in the alps or Japan
Next Spotlight South America. Thank you.
Love your videos, really great editing quality your graphics are always what I want from videos! Like the lift line tracer early on, is really great
I completely second that, in America, no matter the size of the resort, the crowds are a buzzkill. Don't get me started on priority parking too...
Yes. I will never forget my trip to Japan and I would recommend everyone goes there to ski once in their life.
The Vallon sunglases look very cool on you, would not mind to walk around in Obertauern with a pair of them on my nose! Video is btw awsome and very informative. Thnx a lot for making it and sharing your experiences with us.
I’ve been wanting to go to Japan for a while now, watching your reviews have been pushing me much harder now!
Do it, its worth it

Went last year - fantastic experience - really worthwhile going
Niseko is one of the best powder mountains in the world. The apres ski scene is getting better all the time for younger people , but currently it’s probably the best family destination as Japan is so safe and clean generally.
You're the real deal! Can't get enough of that accent!
Great video and information. Japan could be my go to in the near future.
Thanks, been considering a Japan trip, appreciate to comparison. Nice googles too, I recognized them even before you mentioned the brand.
Wow great video! The more I learn about other places to ski the more I appreciate having access to Whistler/Blackcomb.
A fellow snowboarder here, he is really the YT goat of showing different resorts and how he rides them. Very informative and good information, due to him i m planning to visit ost tyrol hopefully this year and japan. I was expecting a video for this season's march snow dump in ost tyrol sadly i was in normal tyrol 😢
worked last season in hakuba. low snowfall season but. the best time i've ever had on a mountian. 1m dumps every week during peak.
Watching this has figures and travel time going through my head.....seeing if it would be possible for me to make the trip across the Pacific...from the east coast....
great video! going to Hakuba Japan this winter in January, hoping for endless Japow. will be there for 11 ski days so really hope we get much snow!
Excellent review. After this year's sad ski weather and snow fall in Europe, skiing in Japan is looking really appealing. You have put Japan squarely on my list of must ski areas.

Thanks for this video. Moving to Thailand soon and have been wondering about Japan since that's probably the best option.
Thanks for the review of Japanese vs Europe for a ski trip. Prices and then the infrastructure like lifts I never would have known
Ocean view while skiing sounds amazing! Low to mid-angle tree skiing doubly-awesome. I really need to get to Hokkadio!
Hopefully headed to the monkey park and the surrounding resorts in Dec. Cheers to my first international trip, keep up the great video quality.
Man i've been thinking of going skying in japan for years. This was quite an informative video
I've done North America and Europe. I need to go to Japan! Oh, I skied in Australia and NZ too, and Dubai.
Very impartial and resourceful information. I have been skiing in Japan in every season, had been to Europe a few times in recent years, and only 1-2 times in N. America and New Zealand. I shared almost exactly the same opinions as you.

Cool looking sunglasses - what a great sponsor. Also, having skied in Japan I think your assessment is spot on
Canada has some great places that don't suffer with huge lift lines - Fernie, Red Mountain and Whitewater. All of those resorts are on the Powder Highway.
Why do you not have more subs yet? The quality is there, wish you succes!
For sure you are unique! Nonetheless, always so accurate and what a great overall judgement of reality. (Specially your take on the prices between USA-Canada-Europe etc). Been to most of your places of reference and you have it wright. Love your humour or is it humor ? Great job. thanks
Great video, first mention I have heard about chairlifts in Japan, very informative
I was in Hakuba for the week in Feb and it was great !! the price for the lift cant be beat. I live in Cali and the price is off the chart. if you have the change Japan ski/boarding is a must !! Great video, keep it up
great video and very much agree with your views on the Japan skiing scene.
Awesome vid. I am now seriously considering going skiing in Japan next season. You answered all the major go/no-go questions 😊
Beautiful and informative as always, let’s drink a beer to that!
You should check out Telluride, Colorado. I can get you $75 lift tickets and there are usually no lines.
It’s still on my bucket list 🙌🏻
Great video, I skied a few places in Japan in my 4 years there. I would add one point that if you ski volcanos, the slopes are often steep higher up and flatter lower down. Honest informative, Have thought of travelling to Japan to ski now will definitely will look into lt. Thanks for the info.
Just discovered your channel (and subscribed). Hope to ride in Japan next season, may be in combo with some surfing. I'll wear Vallon, if I win, promise.
Great video! If you ever come to Scandinavia, please try out Åre, our biggest resort.
Thanks a lot for the informative video! Snowboarding in japan is still on my bucket list.
I guess the Tahoe area and Mammoth isn't on your radar for comparison. That said, Japan just isn't talked about much, so thanks for a much needed look at this part of the skiing world. Cheers!
Da hab ich drauf gewartet ❤️
Bin gespannt, was du nächsten Winter geplant hast
I agree with what you said about North America skiing.. Thinking about Japan and New Zealand skiing.
Thank you for the amazing filming you do! The information and advice is fantastic! 🔥⛷️
I liked this video, still, it could be even better if you keep the summary and written comments longer so we don't have to rewind and pause. Thank you.
Whistler is expensive I agree I’m going to Hokusai in feb will be skiing would love to buy a pair of googles
Well structured video with solid reviews. Nice one!

Coming this fall 😉
Welcome to Japan, the ultimate destination in every sense for everyone!
Well, after watching these videos on Japan, I talked a buddy into going and I booked a place in Niseko for January!!
Kanpai!!
Hakuba was great when we went. Loved the comparisons to NA and Europe ♥️
you should do a video about the slope style and snow fashion in japan.
Great video, very accurate. The only thing I will add is if you get seriously injured skiing in Japan as I did there will be no real pain relief, they do not allow any opium based medication and its illegal to bring your own.
Great, humorous video. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for a great informative video. My kids want to take me to Japan for my next birthday. I must be the luckiest Dad in the World!
I love the mirror lens of the Vallon goggles!
Thanks for the great review. Japan is on my bucket list so this is helpful.
Excellent video, super helpful as a group of us Skiwis are looking to go to Japan in Jan or Feb next year. If we go to Hakuba, would you recommend the last 2 weeks of Jan or the last 2 weeks of February for best snow conditions. We want to avoid the Chinese New Year crowds too…
Definitely January. Late February is already too warm, especially if you go to Honshu.
Love these Japan vids. Never been there, but it's on the top of my list 🙌
Great video as always, thank you for the comprehensive comparacing. Hope one day I'll go there too.
Amazing video, these beautiful snowy clips took a toll on my mental health knoving that I will not ski in the close future SUMMER:(
And ofc great looking sunglasses;)
Great Video, your channel is underrated!
Have you skid in the powder highway?
Revelstoke, fernie, red, panorama, kicking horse etc. The stuff west of Banff but still near it
Yup. Back when I could still afford the lift tickets 😅
CAMPAIIII Vallons! Great vid thinking of spending Jan and feb their next year. Where would you go for an extended trip?
Planning my Japan ski holiday now. Didn't realise how cheap it was!
you should visit the val d'Anniviers in Valais
pretty brilliant video as always. any updates to buru-sera :D
Excellent content, I really enjoy your videos. Planning to nomad in Austrian Alps for 2-3 months next season, any recommendations for family friendly locations/villages/cities?
Yet another excellent video. Keep up the good work. From New Zealand.
what's the resorts you would suggest regarding for best bets on a lot of fresh snow ? and what time of the year ?

I'd say prime time is mid January. Though I enjoyed Honshu, Hokkaido is a true winter wonderland. Furano was one of my favs. Will have a dedicated video about it later this year.
Nice video. Good to see the differences
Hope i can ski Japan soneday!! Great vid like always, verrry informing and nice Giveaway! Thanks :)
nice comprehensive video, totaly on my bucket list för 2025!
Awesome video like always! Keep it going
I would like ski Japan because the onsen seems the best way to cap off a ski day!
Not sure where you have been skiing in North America, skied WinterPark A-basin / Brek in Colorado and neither had issues with lift lines, Canada is even better, often get runs at Sunshine Village down the road from Banff where our group are the only ones on the run. Wintersports in Japan never crossed my mind till now :o
I couldnt stop laughing everytime time you said "Cluster Fuck"🤣Im so keen to go skiing in Europe and Japan now! Im from Australia and we do have ski resorts, but they are very small and not much snow during the season. Awesome videos mate!!😄
Just make sure to come outside of school holidays... Thank me later.
Nicely summed up! Always enjoying your vdos!
