SO the offer an Al a Cart option for DLC, and your mad about it. Rather then charging DELUXE price for every copy? They offered a cheaper option for those that dont want the extras. And your acting like that is a bad thing.

honestly, i think the complaints about microtransactions are overblown. people are just complaining about it because they want to make the issue of bad optimization gain more coverage. now why do i think its overblown? well, most of them can just be bought in game. granted it is harder for some to get the premium currency than it is for others, mainly due to biases regarding certain types of pawns that are pretty much mandatory in the early game, but yeah. the only thing you cant really earn in-game is the music collection. secondly all of them are barely even a dollar in price, we're talking helldivers 2 levels of cheap. so its clear they're just using this to drag out the protest against the game, since mcx garners a lot more attention than bad fps issues.

Every studio has tried to justify the price hike to $70 by saying they don't have to release DLC to make up for it. Every $70 game released so far has had even more egrigious microtransactions than in the past. Yakuza 8's DLC and Persona 3 Reload making disc 2 DLC are the perfect examples.

Monster Hunter World's Iceborne expansion ran so poorly that people were refunding to the point they were in danger of no longer breaking even- only THEN did they remove it.
Don't even get me started on Street Fighter.
And yet, with this history, people still bought this rather than waiting, and they will continue to preorder and buy on Day 1. So why would they ever bother NOT doing this? There is almost no financial incentive for them NOT to keep doing this.

You are right about a lot of games releasing in beta state.
I do not get the comment about early acess though. Early acess was intended and presented for both beta and alpha stage games right from the start on steam. There have also been multiple games even from back when ea started that explicitly put the various alpha stages they plan on their roadmap on their storepage, and label builds 'Alpha xyz' in the games main screens. That has always been the case and intended, unlike the broken states a lot of games have on official release these days.

As a game though, DD2 is amazing, I feel like if I waited I woulda missed out coz all my friends are also playing it and really loving it.. it comes down, I think, to how much of a fan you are of the original DD and your tolerance of jank and some odd design decisions. That was a decision probably made last minute to lessen the CPU load. But that also means Capcom KNEW that the game has major CPU problems and still released it.

The developers sure did do a great job, which is why Capcom pays them. The question for the consumer is whether they think it appropriate to pay Capcom for the end product, warts and all. People tend to forget this because it's not intuitive, but paying for a game doesn't mean you're supporting the developers, just that you're giving money to a publisher in exchange for a product. Consumers don't get to pick and choose how their money is distributed, so people choosing to buy Dragon's Dogma financially support Capcom's monetization schemes just as much, if not more, than they do the work of the creatives and developers.

The performance issues are inexcusable, but at least for me, the DLSS framegen mod helped immensely. Even in the main city, my fps is pretty decent now with max settings and raytracing at 1440p. It's a shame, because DD2 is probably my favorite game in a long, long time. I've had so much fun just getting lost in the world, finding quests and outcomes that are easily missed, doing cheeky things with various game mechanics, and trying different builds.
I really hope the game does well enough to get an expansion in the future.

Based on the £36 of paid micro transactions this game shipped with, i no longer bought it ss intended, and will not buy it until it is at lesst £36 off on sale. The company can lose the amount it tried to force from me

A lot of people had complaints about things like fast travel, getting RC, and other things in the last game. Capcom’s solution was to add extra system to exacerbate the problem and sell the solution to those complaints as DLC.
    “Nobody complained about other games.”
MH updated their combat system and added new ways to move around the map to make it quicker. Then sold mostly cosmetics in their store. They didn’t add omnidirectional movement, the slinger, faster overall movement to the shop as DLC. “Other games from Capcom” is not an argument.
The problem is the way they’re ramping it up. Going so far as to take the complaints from the previous games, make it worse, then try to capitalize on it. That’s not just selling the solution. That’s adding to the problem to sell the solution. Capcom actually skipped a rung on the ladder toward more aggressive monetization.
It’s been clear they’ve been prodding for ways to monetize their games further and further over the years. It’s always a problem that historically, only gets worse. It’s very clear that the Capcom cultists are taking the wrong context out of this argument. I can’t say for sure if it’s purposely done or just blind fanaticism.
You keep saying we didn’t have a problem with it before (Which is patently false), but thinking back on the progression and the ways they’ve tried, and failed (SF midgame ads….. lmfao) I should’ve said something because history hasn’t lied when it comes to this and it’s becoming obvious Capcom is moving toward more aggressive monetization.
So yeah, you’re right. We should always stand up against it. Cosmetic only or not. History doesn’t lie. It ALWAYS gets worse.

Thank you all for beta testing the game for me. I'm looking forward to the 1.0 release of Dragon's Dogma 2, 1 year from now.

As an outsider to DD, the save system totally turns me off. And then there's performance, and the relevant concern that micro-transactions reflect game design intended to frustrate a player. $70? The market is saturated with fantastic titles, new and old. A pretty easy and reasonable pass for me.

Ya, a lot of people can't resist the urge to grab the newest thing just because it's the newest thing. It's fine if they're enjoying themselves but, for my money, I want a feature-complete game that respects the artistic integrity of the medium and doesn't have performance issues.

The MTX didn't influence the game design for sure. With how trivial basically the stuff they sell is to get, it shouldn't have any measurable impact of any gamer a tiny bit serious about playing the game. Also the exact same MTX was in DD1 at release and the Rift Crystal earning seems kind of faster in DD2 than DD1, so it's even less of an issue for the current game.

@@Mordy. Yeah youtube now is basically just spreading disinformation about DD2, it's pretty sad
