Kindle basic isn't just the budget friendly one, it's actually a pretty great option. Especially if you wanna be able to just throw it in you pocket. I chose it over my paperwrite
Curious why would you need a backpack/ why can’t you throw the paper white in your pocket? In the market for a kindle so I don’t know much about any of them!
For me, nothing beats the Oasis. The metal shell, the balance of the device in my hands, is what makes it absolutely the second best thing to read from. #1 is physical books of course.

No idea on what grounds this guy is saying the Oasis is not worth buying. It’s probably the Kindle with the most tangible points of difference over the other Kindles.
The reason to buy the oasis is because you want the physical buttons. I bought the oasis specifically for the buttons, got the LTE connection and the big storage, came out to like $400ish, and then I just use my tablet/phone and never bother because being stuck on Amazon services suck. Money wasted, but never regret something you wanted, especially if you worked hard and achieved it!

I kind of want to get a new kindle paperwhite but I still have a 2012 one that somehow still works. I left it uncharged for like 5 years and I just charged it last night to full and it’s still at full the next night. The only thing that would make me want to get a new one is because my old one is connected to my dad’s Amazon account. He gave it to me and loaded it with books he bought when I was in middle school. I don’t think I can keep the books on there if I switched it to my own Amazon account and I don’t want to rebuy any of the books honestly. But if I could get a new one, I could have the old one with those books still on it and then buy some new books for the new kindle paperwhite.

Oasis forever. It's the most comfortable to hold for people that read for hours at a time. It's lighter than the new paper whites which feel like a brick in comparison. The buttons are much more enjoyable for page turning imho. Well with the few extra bucks.

I have both since I get highly distracted if I try to read with the iPad. With the kindle your focus is purely on what you’re reading. It’s also better on my eyes. Much less eye strain. That being said you can easily use the kindle app on your iPad and see how you like it.
Nobody ever mentions this but if the kindle model you're buying has a screen resolution of 300 ppp (some earlier versions of base kindle were only 150 ppp) it's literally perfect for reading manga

There is also the scibe version, it is not water proof but it comes with a pen and an inbuilt notebook :) although it is over 500 AUD...

I have the paperwhite & oasis. i use the oasis 95% of the time. It's just better all around. If they go on sale grab one.
