This routine deserved at least a 16.100. Yes, she broke the Onodi into wolf full, and had a wobble. Immediately, there's 0.2 off, but the skills before and after that were exceptional. Flick, Layout combo has literally nothing to take, she reaches 180 degree split everytime. The only deductions I could see were the Onodi combo, the side somi and the crossed legs on the dismount, other than that I don't see where 15.975 came from. Likewise with Shawn during this subdivsion. Bad scoring.
And people don’t think the Chinese won because they were appropriately scored… obviously with two falls the us lost gold but without them they should have been closer than they were.
I didn't realize that you HAVE to do your best dismount ever in the 2008 Beijing AA. She had done plenty of other magnificent sticks. This one is just hardly a .1 deduction. Most gorgeous legs and lines: /watch?v=e6xhKxDGWqo
I hate how biased these commentators are. According to them, no one can do anything like Nastia. I like her work, but there are many other great gymnasts even on the US squad.
@markedexclusive Mitchell and Ferrari at least have head release. Liukin could do head release (it's not hard to bend your neck), but to avoid deduction, she only tilts her head back a tiny bit.
@@nmixx.changeupletsgo Where in the world did you get that ignorance from?! Hahaha!!! Someone always has to bring race into everything when in all reality, it has absolutely NOTHING to do with it. Hahahaha!
@@ajimenez1719ify lol nastia is my fave AA champ of all time but u can't sit here and tell me that she's the last one from US to have any form of artistry in a routine.

Really Elfi, you could see her getting a 10.0 for execution at the Olympics? She wasn't even getting it in generous national competitions, lol. But all that being said, I do think this routine was a bit underscored, especially considering the random 9.6 she got for a non-stuck vault (that prelims vault scored higher than her stuck AA vault, lol...).
First of all, by your standards, Youna Dufournet should have the best Onodi because it is slow. Secondly, here's Yang Yilin sticking the 2.5: /watch?v=3z_AK_1DasQ /watch?v=RpnJqSSwZEs /watch?v=RYu8hoiYWmo /watch?v=CrRr6qwPTgU. SO you were saying? Clearly, Liukin does not have the best 2.5 ever. @Missnewyork28 It's decent. But if this your standard of lame, then so is Lauren Mitchell's, Vanessa Ferrari's, "and others" who got credited for, according to you, an unexact position of a switch split ring leap.
Not at all. Liukin has crossed legs and minimal amplitude on her 2.5. Yang Yilin gets much more power and has extremely straight legs. Liukin doesn't have the best Onodi either. In this video alone, she wobbles. Liukin's Onodi is nice and fluid but watch Anna Pavlova's Onodi. It's even more fluid and it's faster. It's much more beautiful.
love the nodding of her head that she does right before every routine
Shawn does the same before every dismount, I noticed. Probably a reassurance thing for each of them.
Eight years later and I still think this was underscored..

Sheep jump. Lack of head release and feet not touching the head. I do still think this was underscored
Im so glad she won the AA gold
Once again, judges in Beijing dropped the ball. This should've been over a 16.000.

Great dismount! Almost as good in the AA

I only found 0.4 in deductions here. WTF judges?

RIGHT
So true. Did they see Shawn’s beam. Not a bobble.

I think she was the last gymnast from the US with artistry. I believe that whole heartily.
artistry =/= skinny white woman

Why her marks can have 9.375???
her legs are ridiculously long hahaha
