@@hannibalbarkas1350 I guess we can assume that most people are aware of that. I always like Buster as a guest on the show - I think his mixes are great and he did an outstandingly good job on the new Vilhjarta Record. But don't you agree that a video called "DAMN THOSE GUITARS ARE HEAVY!!" in which there is not a single guitar tone to be heard nor any sort of reference to guitar is at least a bit...misleading?
Damn these vocals are just crushing! Didn't know you can do that using only Omnisphere. Anyway I love Periphery, glad he joined them, his bass parts are phenomenal. 🌚
Here's something I've been doing: use the envelope follower in Saturn 2 to modulate the amount of drive and pre-drive EQ parameters - essentially controlling drum room sound like a reverb, you can dial in shorter "decay" for high frequency bands while lengthening the sustain for lower frequency bands. Saturn 2 is a *really deep* plugin, I feel like I can accomplish the majority of my mix just with this plugin.

“they're nothing spectacular tho, the djent is pretty much the bigbottom with the t-75 cab off axis..the fx booster ON (important to find the guitars midrange sweetspot, would recommend jerking around on values from 46-52 on the mid freq knob on the fx-booster). i also use a boss-ge7 infront of the pod boosting some volume and cutting some low endish grease hope this helps a bit =) edit: bigbottoms mid at max”
they use line 6 pod xt’s with the bigbottom amp and with lundgren m7 pickups. i’m not sure about the specifics for under vatten, but i found calle thomer’s profile on sevenstring (his username is “seyd”) and this is what he said about his guitar tone back when masstaden first came out
Buster! I think you way to mix and shape the sound is in it's own league, you are a bit of a treasure, Wish you a awesome 2024 wish you also health and new creative path's thank you a ton man for your presence 🤘🎸🙏🙏🙏
In FF Saturn you can get the room sound to disappear by turning the dynamics knob all the way to the left, this same trick works for mic bleed. It just tightens up the transients and works as a subtle gate on your sounds. Try to to get the the hi hat bleed or room sound out of your snare
When designing I always get the "hotkey" tips, its cool to see how buster handles that in the moment, they are useful but learning them on the spot is so difficult personally
@@louistremblay1218 yes, and he wasn't on his usual setup, jet lagged and all. What matters is seeing his techniques and I really just love watching him doing his thing
if you cant afford saturn, try Klanghelm IVG its great for guitars and loads of other things and is free (saturator/compressor) Its not multi band but you can focus it on a specific area more or apply across the spectrum, also has cross talk which adds width, great for busses
I don't know if this is a dumb question or not but would this work if I don't have a room version of each drum? Like could I just double the kick, snare and toms and apply this to the double, then blend it ... Or would it get out of control since it's not that more distant room mic signal?
Wouldn't work to well (phase issues even if you EQ it), if you want a "room" to work with you can mess around with sending your snare, kick and toms to a reverb with a high mix value... takes some tweaking to get right but it works. I usually did this with reapers reverbs while using various samples that did not have a room sample with them. Another thing you can try is finding free room (or paid..) samples, even if they aren't matched up with your dry samples they can still be used to get good results.
BOOOOOOOOOO - clickbait or an honest mistake? If you did this on purpose ... shame on you. If it's a mistake - well, shit happens - I just want to hear some heavy guitars so looking forward to that!!!!
Next video: AMAZING drum tones by Buster Odeholm - All guitar mixing.
So in order to get a heavy af guitar tone I need to put Saturn on snare, kick and toms? Awesome, thanks URM!
Same xd
Well, it's called a mix. The guitar alone can sound like a fart in the wind for all I care as long as the mix fucks ya know.

Saturn can seriously be used on every channel, it's a gem
This guitar tone amazing!!!
Buster is truly a gift to the genre, this man is a prodigy
Hahah at 17 mins I “out loud” said “wow really?!?” And he responded a half second later in the video “yeah really” 😂
those guitars sound a heck of a lot like drums to me LOL
Im glad I checked this one out. Awesome tips!
Good video, nothing to do with guitars tho
He’s creating space for the guitars dude. It’s a starting point to the whole mix for him.
@@OrcasBlade Yea getting a guitar tone is the ez part. Just throw on some Neural DSP thing and low cut the bass in front of it lol.

Oh dude Map the ext sidechain/envelope follower to the dynamic knob and it’ll tighten up the room the same way
Wrong title aside, the thumbnail just about sums up my mixing... saturn on everything
Absolutely! Please show me your nix using saturation only, sure sounds great
@@nenntmichbond Didn't say only, saturation amongst other things of course.
Been an avid user of Saturn for years, on about everything. Love the reassurance from one of my favorites!
Nice video. Please do the video on Vildhjarta guitar tone. It's always been a big mystery on Vildhjarta guitar tone.

Literally watching the mix right now haha

Will by Abyssal Mouth right after this
yeah, i mean he had to start from scratch and had like 2h for the livestream to mix it all, i guess its pretty damn good.

Now I’ll have to try the big bottom amp from my pod through fab filter Saturn lol
wrong title
My drums started sounding like a guitar - thanks Buster!😀
don't mind me, just yoinking this preset for personal purposes
Start from here and work yourself down the comments. It gets weirder and more awkward exponentially :D
Basically his guitar is a kick drum. Got it.
This is why the Klon pedal has people going nuts, it does the same thing about but it’s analog. Your rig isn’t quite the same without it
