when the metalheads notice you, you're a big fucking deal. I spent time "splitting" my life between my dad's jazz records and my R&B, and going to rock clubs. With Prince, I never had to choose, but I took flak from my rock friends. They thought he was a lace dandy and strange, never mind the fact that he had Hendrix and Santana flowing thru his veins everytime he picked up a guitar. I was quiet. I knew Prince would outlast any changes in the scene. I was right. This is amazing. The last time I saw LA Guns, it was 1989 and I was 17. This brings both sides of my heart together. Thank you sincerely for posting this. I am sad, but beginning to deal with it. I loved Prince from 1979. When I say this man was my life, I am not kidding. My first musical obsession, and he borrowed and gave to us in ways we can only begin to grasp. Thank you.
I love this. As much as I love late 80s hair metal, I also loved Prince's lyricism and musicianship. Prince is often underrated in rock circles, this is a great tribute.
LilRaisin Acres whew, doesn't take much to please you at a live show I guess... I've got almost forty years of this stuff under my belt but this ranks as one of the worst sounding live shows and an improv song I've ever heard. This is awful and rivals Aerosmith's late 70's early 80's live stuff when they were too fucked up to even play
@@sixsentsoldiers It's not a matter of "right or wrong", especially in music. But more importantly-it's not your place to judge someone who enjoyed something you didn't. I'm not trying to be bitchy, I'm just sayin... 🤷🏻♀️
Do you know they're still touring, not world-wide or anything, but they're still playing clubs. Their latest album, "The Missing Peace" (2017) is great! (And it's Phil Lewis on vocals again, & his voice is great as ever!) 😎
Pretty much every musician in Hollywood LOVED Prince. Every band I have seen and know has covered Prince. TD is a fan along with Chad, Xristian and Danny. Eric Stacy and Brent Muscatt are also long time fans. Prince's Purple Rain movie was a huge motivator for most bands that started in the early 80's through today.
Ironically, it takes almost to the end of the video to see any familiar faces from either L.A. Guns or Faster Pussycat. Sure, Most of the guys you see have been playing in these bands in the recent years, but the mainstays (Phil Lewis & Steve Riley from L.A. Guns and Taime Downe from Pussycat) aren't visible until the end. Taime Downe and Phil Lewis are seen singing together on the right of the video, and it looks like Ace and Xristian (current Faster Pussycat) are out front with Michael Grant (current L.A. Guns). Can't see who's playing bass or drums.
this is awesome, but sadly.....without Taime, in my opinion, its not Faster Pussycat, but that is just me. I feel the same way regarding Great White, etc, but besides all of that - love this and such an awesome night I bet it was
Oh ok. Yeah, I know he is still fronting Faster Pussycat, but like Great White, there is another version of Faster Pussycat out there as well that Brent did and unless he no longer does that, then wow, I am behind on the times a bit
Taime's current FP is absolutely amazing, def check them out if you get the chance - it'll take you straight back to the LA of old, when Rock was Rock!!! 3 of the band have been there 16+ yrs now anyway, and Ace (only 7yrs under his hat) is as Faster Pussycat as you can get!!! - I know what you mean though - Ace has a cool quote I read somewhere - when people ask about original band members he says "Hey, you still with that Sally girl from High School?" "Nah man, that was 20 years ago!" "Exactly!!!"
same was with scotty griffin. Lewis visibly first employs people who drag him upward, sucks them out and kicks out when they become threatening. I love the band, can't deny, but not what became of it and their leader. Also, missing Riley. A man with such heritage shouldn't have been treated like that. to me, LA Guns is just a memo now.
Taime and Phil got in there cooing at the end. Taime can’t even do that well anymore. L A guns young gun( the Asian looking guy in the hat is rocking it though.
No it's alluding to the end of the world. When you mix blue and red it makes purple. So when it's raining in the sky(blue) and it mixes with the blood(red) that's raining down from the battle between good(angels and humans(repentant) verses the bad(demons and humans(heathens/sinners). So the mixture of blood and rain in the blue sky will make it purple. Trippy huh?
Chad Stewart the drummer from Faster was singing with the Asian Dude IDK. The guitar player with the bandana is from Faster also ... I don't like him or know his name n Idk who was on drums or who the fuck the Izzy Stadlin look a like is.... unlessss??? either way Chad is the closest thing to faster. hes been with em off n on for like 25 years. I hung out with him n we drank some beers together when he was drummin for LA Guns in Tucson a long while back. Good Dude!
rockers from the late 80 s......each had a bout 2 hits....but they are well known if you were around back then...LA GUNS....thats where guns n roses got that name...somebody in gun n roses left and helped to create guns...dont remember which one....la guns and faster pussy cat ...rocked out some good shit ...every musician knows LA GUNS ....and every true rocker thats old enough knows faster pussy cat. 2
No no. This is some bastardization of LA Guns. That’s not Phil Lewis or Tracii Guns. They had far more than 2 hits. I don’t know WHO in the fuck these dudes are.
tracy raak easy. Phil and Tracii are both in this lineup. Phil steps off so the guitarist (dude in the hat Phil brought with him to traciis LA guns) can do purple rain. It ripped in Denver. Faster pusseycat fucks this up
I WAS a big fan of both bands...in fact, I have a bunch of stuff from both bands on my playlist. I should've explained myself better. I'm not gonna tell you anything you don't already know, that sound quality of recording a live performance is very difficult. Way too many cellphone vids, etc, etc. I never meant to get personal but evidently I did. For that I do apologize. Never did I question the talent on that stage. In fact, it's great ur still hammering away at it. Oh well, I've had worse said about me. We're pretty close in age and have seen the rise and fall of a bunch of different genre's of bands. I've spent money on both bands LP's and shows. I've earned the right to have an opinion I think...that said, I do know how to use a delete button also. This is where I x-fill motard.
Please stop with the Purple Rain tributes. They've been, although well intentioned, mostly awful. These clowns sound like a pub band for fuck sakes. Springsteens was terrible as well. LilRaisin Acres - Never heard anyone in "Rock circles" give anything but praise and respect for Prince. Your statement sounds like your made up world.

Awesome guys... I love it... So so cool to see you guys reaching out embracing and enjoying other genres of music ... Fantastic! LA Guns forever...
Used to see all these guys in Hollywood. Sooooo many years ago. Lived them then and now
An amazing tribute to an amazing artist who lives everywhere

That was awesome , glad they did it and, glad l found it. They kicked ass on this one.
I didn't want to watch this for a long time, because for me its not LAGuns when Phil isn't singing. But Micheal did a good job. Respect.

FUCKIN'....... NICE!!!
this is awesome, but sadly.....without Taime, in my opinion, its not Faster Pussycat, but that is just me. I feel the same way regarding Great White, etc, but besides all of that - love this and such an awesome night I bet it was
Taime was there & is still in Faster Pussycat. He just didn't sing on this song.

It would've been nice to have seen Brent Muscat in there too
That isnt Phil or Taime
GUITAR THE BEST.
badass
Lovely
He was playing Diamonds and Pearls at the beginning... Cool.
2020 & 4ever ❤❤❤
I’m a big fan of Phil ... but this guy is good, too.
This was badass!!!
Would have LOVED to have been there..two great bands playing a great song! Was this before or after Prince passed?
It was a couple of days after Prince died. So it was one of the first live tributes to him.
It kinda sounded like red hot chilli peppers in the guitar opening. .neat cover though....wonder what taime would have sounded like in the mix too
I absolutely💯percent 💘 Michael Grant so talented and so damn sexy🤩😍💗🧡🧡💛💚💜💜💘💖❤️❣️💕💓💞💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋
I'm looking for a Gun or a Pussycat, but all I see on this stage are strangers.
Ace Von Johnson plays for both bands. Does a great job
WOW!!! Speechless!!
Cool
So LA Guns kicked this guy out? Michael Grant? .....i see why now....too good....can't have that...
same was with scotty griffin. Lewis visibly first employs people who drag him upward, sucks them out and kicks out when they become threatening. Staci Blades was my favorite version
Yeah...A Phil decision.
Theyre dressed like them but no LA GUNS or FP here..good tribute tho.
the guy siging backup, should have song the whole song!!!!!!!!!!!
Taime Downe or Chumlee lol ... God bless you all or whatever ... love it anyways ...
Who's the drummer?
Still fucking brilliant though
i seen la guns do this its even better live 🤘🏻
who ARE these people?
Ha! They are newer members of both bands.
80s band. They're still kicking around.
if u can do better let's hear it. gave it a good shot.
0:38 is that sign language or a musical genius and tactition on stage?
No Name he's signaling to the sound tech to turn the volume up on his microphone
That's a super secret code telling the sound mixer this encrypted message: "Turn up the mic vol you jackass" LOL
That's not either band original vocalists but it's a good cover
At work just started to rain how crazy is that
I see no actual members of either band
Oh dear.
Taime and Phil got in there cooing at the end. Taime can’t even do that well anymore. L A guns young gun( the Asian looking guy in the hat is rocking it though.
Michael Grant!
Prince being from Minneapolis..is Purple Reign a subtle tribute to the Vikings?
No it's alluding to the end of the world. When you mix blue and red it makes purple. No.
Spelt wrong, and NO...
Dennis LOL - Downy!
He ate a whale
when you not knows who he is dont call his name lol
it was magic greenbeens Murphy;)))
The chubby guy to The right has a great voice
chubby guy to the right needs to stop
Without him it would have been a disaster
The guy on the right is FP drummer, Chad Stewart
I don't know what to think.......
Really ?
Chad Stewart the drummer from Faster was singing with the Asian Dude IDK. The guitar player with the bandana is from Faster also ... Ace Von Johnson. Plays for both bands and does a great job.
That Izzy Stadlin looking guy as you call him is Eric Stacy . He was the Bass player for FP during the MTV /radio years
@@robertallen5085 nope it’s Kenny Kweens not Eric Stacy
Just sounds like a bunch of guys jammin to me. Any garage band could do it that good.
UM, It was good but. Missing the pull off from the A to the G ruined the whole performance. JK 🤣. Too many music nerds commenting. 🤣🤘😎🤘
who the fuck is singing this song?
Michael Grant
I DON'T THINK THEY WERE PREPARED ON HOW BOTH BANDS WERE GONNA DO IT WARLOCKER SLOPPY BAND
Who the FUCK are these guys?
tracy raak 80's hair bands that obviously too drunk and the soundman needs fired
