Is this a warning, a threat, or a promise?
{{{ FYI: He isn't holding the hottest late night tv timeslot for no reason. In case you were unaware- Stephen is a clever, creative, original, successful comedian, actor, producer, and skit/story screenwriter who has been pushing the envelope on late night tv since way the fuck back when he broke ground with the help of Jon Stewart. As soon as he had enough success to be influential he began helping the beginner talent that he most believed in launch careers of their own, and they have since risen and so on. The idea is that tariffs form a relatively small depression of the US economy whereas they create an acute problem with Chinese exporters who cannot move their stocks and have to shut down production pipelines, putting the pressure on.
However, China is not traditionally concerned with the blue-collar workers who will feel this pain immediately. So do not bet on them blinking first.
Also, whilst protectionism stimulates US manufacturing in principle, these people will (quite sensibly) make hay while the sun shines and put their prices up.
Plus, manufacturing pathways nowadays span multiple countries. Raw material -> refined material -> components -> finished products may happen in 4 separate countries; or it may go _back and forth_ between US and China. Now try to figure out who is hurt most!
Trump's talk about tariffs = revenue is correct from a Treasury point of view, but that's money out of the pockets of the MAGA crowds, who may not fully realise how slippery Trump's "we" really is.

You're a fool. Its not about China paying tariffs, it's about making Chinese imports expensive so that American made goods become cheaper. When you say you need h1b visas to import more IT people because there are not enough people coming out with degrees, it is understandable. And parents need to encourage the youth to go an get an education. But when you say you can't manufacture in you're own country, it's a lame excuse. Even if robots take over manufacturing, you need humans to work in a factory that creates robots and need humans to do the maintenance and repair work.

@Mr. Last Name -It’s a modern lifestyle brand that pushes overpriced, romanticized-in-a-new-agey-way, health, fashion & beauty products. It looks like the kind of place you would go if you were addicted to cocaine and had finally given it up, but still had a lot of money to waste.
I think it’s mainly for women. Women seeking validation via a modern lifestyle brand offering beat-up jeans for 400$, a skimpy pair of underpants for 150$, 60$ bottles of shampoo, face cream & other toiletries so overpriced they practically scream modern lifestyle brand.
There are health articles about lube & sexy toys might give you autism or something, detox junk, child rearing advice and more goop that costs a fortune, but is curated, which I think is even better than exclusive.
Iron Man’ secretary cooked up the whole shebang and seems to play a big part in keeping things at a curated level of properly sourced empowerment & models all the cute, 300$ bathing suits & 450$ beach robe & even poses naked on a massage table. I don’t know if Iron Man’s secretary used to do a lot of cocaine and then stopped and had a lotta money to throw into starting a modern lifestyle brand or if she was just a shrewd business person and invested wisely and played the market when she took over Iron Man‘s business. But if you like Iron Man’s secretary and you’d like to see pictures of her looking serene and blissed out in a bathing suit or even naked, this is the place for you.
Couldn’t find any IronMan crap though
      Pretty much a fancy-pants operation.
Feel free to ask me about anything.
I can answer any questions with pretty good accuracy.

By the way, Mexican migration has stopped coming to the United States as it did before. It is mostly immigration coming from central american countries that have been destabilized politically and economically.
People cross thru México to get to the United States because they don't have the means to fly on a plane or travel by boat, because if that was the case they wouldn't need to come here in the first place.
You don't hear so much of people from Costa Rica or other more affluent countries coming here do you?

Justin Welch -- interesting claim, that tariffs bring manufacturing jobs back to the US. Where is your evidence? The manufacturing industry that remains in the US is highly automated, and increasing production results in little or no increases in jobs. E.g. the steel industry. After Trump imposed tariffs on imported steel in early 2018, Trump claimed on July 27 that that US Steel Corp would be opening 7 new plants. Then on July 31 he claimed it was six new plants. US Steel has stated that they have _no_ plans to open _any_ new plants.
And according to a report in Washington Post, the Peterson Institute for International Economics has estimated that each of those steel jobs created has cost US taxpayers $900,000. Pretty pricey, considering that's 13 times what those jobs pays, on average.

Certain powers are entirely the will of the executive branch - trade policies like tariffs and sanctions is one of those arenas. So the decisions Trump and his cabinet in those restricted arenas aren't able to be directly stopped by Congress or the courts, unless they contradict a law in some capacity.
Congress has impeachment power to toss out executives that are incompetent, but this particular Congress refuses to use it because they view Trump as a free meal ticket for Republican victory. Hopefully, this can be proven false in the most aggressive way possible at the 2020 elections.

@jmarks881 Well, people are angry because what Trump and Republicans are doing are hurting others, the middle class and especially those struggling with sickness and finance. Ironically Trump's "policies" will hurt his supporters the most, but again and again they denie it. They call the rest of us delusional despite overwhelming evidence pointing the other way. At one point, you realize that they don't care, they don't care at all. As long as their "enemies" (pretty much the rest of the world and "libtards") are damaged in the process and they *feel* like they've "won", they don't give a fuck about the lives of innocent people and reality.
It is morally wrong, but understandable to hope for their demise, before any more long lasting damages are made because of ignorance.

The fun part about this is, time kinda has completely lost all meaning during the trump presidency hasn't it? Like, this clip could be from may 13, 2019..it could well be from may 13, 2018...who can tell! It's all just a hodgepodge of ridiculous fires happening all at once, nonstop.

    • @ThomasNimmesgern
      @ThomasNimmesgern 5 лет назад +1

      This is so true.
I am watching this clip on 31st May, 2019. When I started the clip, I didn't notice when it was uploaded, and I thought it was one of their latest clips (so perhaps 1 or 2 days old).
I didn't notice the clip was two weeks old (not two days) before I read the comments where it says something like "written two weeks ago".
You are right: Every Trump day feels the same. It's like a roller-coaster: no matter how bumpy the ride was, the same ride will start over and over again.

@Elliott Bronstein But realistically, I don't think there will be a war with troops flighting with China, unless the CCP or north Korea has completely loss their minds. Because it's 2019, and we all know wars don't make money, so no reasonable individual would like to step into one.
If you had pay attention to what the US is trying to do limiting china's activities, especially in Africa and middle east. I think it is as close as we will get to take down China. It is no classic kick ass and take names kind of war, but if it works at the end of the day, I am all for it.
