Fine job; thank you. I agree with all your choices--especially for Heath Ledger and for Brokeback Mountain, the film. Just one minor point, Shakespeare in Love is a charming, literate film; other than that, keep it up the good work!
Love your opinion about Shakespeare in Love. I don't think it's a bad movie. Just blown away it won over Saving Private Ryan! Appreciate all your kind words.
Best picture choice being terrible has been born out simply by the fact that no one talks about it anywhere, ever, other than in the context of being an absurd Oscar winner but Brokeback is still often a topic of movie conversation.
No doubt about it. You also forgot Tim Burton did pretty good with that one corpse bride or the other movie that was there crash is abomination. I never seen it before in my life and why does that even exist in a first place?
It's shame that those voters who refused to watch Brokeback is missing out on a masterpiece. It's also disappointing (yet not surprising) that the academy also joined the homophobic jokes. Heath Ledger refused to present at the oscars when asked to make jokes about the film. He said it was love and he didn't want to joke about it. He'd also shut down ppl he hung out with if they treated the film as a joke cuz the leads were two men. And i think my favorite fun fact is that the switching of the shirt layers at the end was Heath's idea. One of the movie writers, Diana talked about it on a podcast. She said he acted like a little kid, who was excited to show off a surprise. R.I. P Heath Ledger. And I'm one of the few ppl that think that while his joker is great, it was the Ennis role that was his masterpiece.
Ennis was his masterpiece. He was transcendent in Brokeback. Absolutely amazing performance. I'm glad that as each new year passes, this movie is being recognized for the triumph it was.
