One thing I’m glad for is that Lupita has stuck around for as long as she has after her Oscar win. She could’ve easily been a flash-in-the-pan actress who won her Oscar and fell into obscurity. But she’s still out there, still knocking it out of the park, delivering excellent performances one after the other. Even when she has a film where the script isn’t that great, she seems like the one who’s trying most of everyone. The film world is such a better place with her in it.
I totally agree. I'm still shocked that Lupita was close to 30 when filming the movie. I thought she was 16 to 20. Currently, she looks around 25; she's 41, actually. After 35, extra pounds make one look younger. Maybe darker skin has the same effect. Excluding ones obesed with being tanned in their youth.
The thing with Laura Dern, when she won, she was one of the governors of the acting branch of the Academy, who already had significant influence over the people choosing the award. She ran a solid campaign, and no one really tried to fight her for it.

Part of what helped Dern is that she's been in Hollywood for so many years (part nepo baby but also a very respected actress in multiple genres). I also remember hearing someone say that this kind of Hollywood divorce lawyer was something that a lot of people in the business recognized.
I agree about Viola, she could’ve gone lead and may win, that would be such a nailbitter race. I think if that happens, Stone would be out and it would’ve come down to Huppert and Davis, with Viola probably winning since the movie is better liked than Elle. I’m interested to know who would’ve replaced Violas spot in supporting that year though, she would take Ruth Neggas spot in lead, I think and in supporting, who would’ve taken the fifth slot and who would’ve won instead? Michelle Williams for Manchester by the Sea?
I think it would have gone to Michelle. Viola + Michelle that night would have been perfect. And then Emma would be the lead this year anyway with Poor Things (and I love both hers and Lily’s performances)
I think for the fifth supporting nom it might have been either Janelle Monae for Hidden Figures or Greta Gerwig for 20th Century Women. Either way it would have been a surprise nom as all 5 of these seemed to be locked so if Viola had gone Lead instead of supporting that 5th slot would have been a wild card more than likely.

Oh, man, we continue to be SO in sync, most of the time so far (see also, my comments on your other vids). Some thoughts: 1. Alicia Vikander. Such category fraud, yes, and such an unmemorable movie. And, regarding "Ex Machina" (also my favorite movie of 2015), I remember having two thoughts about her, as I watched it: "Um, who is this, now?", and "That deserves an Oscar, clearly". The irony was not lost on me that I was eventually supremely disappointed that she won one. 2. Laura Dern. For my money, Laura Dern is arguably my favorite actor of my Gen-X situation. So many astonishing performances. I would love to visit a parallel universe where she gets a deserved nomination for "Inland Empire". But, "A Marriage Story"? Yes, it's a fine movie, maybe even a great one, and another notch on her belt of excellence, but, an Oscar? No. 3. Allison Janney. I had no real problem with her winning, save one, a big one, sounds like it was your exception as well: Laurie Metcalf in "Lady Bird". End of discussion. 4. Melissa McCarthy. Also one of my favorite nominations, all time. I'm happy Spencer won (as was McCarthy, I believe she jumped to her feet), and she deserved it, but I would have voted for McCarthy. I can at least take comfort in that she possibly came in second. 5. Lupita N'yongo. I recently watched "A Quiet Place: Day One", and once I was finished drying my eyes, I decided that the old saying of "great things come in threes" is so true. To my recollection, I have only seen three of her performances, "12 Years A Slave", "Us", and now this latest, and I am fully convinced, without having read or heard anyone else's input whatsoever, that she must absolutely be one of the most gifted actors of HER generation. Millenials for the win. I am praying, literally praying she is recognized for this one, after egregiously being snubbed for "Us".
If Beale Street Could Talk was truly overlooked (besides best supporting actress). I imagine people were wanting either an uplifting, beautiful movie or a very serious downer of a movie. It did neither and yet both, and brilliantly.
My Top Ten: 1. Lupita Nyong'o 2. Patricia Arquette 3. Octavia Spencer 4. Viola Davis 5. Allison Janney 6. Anne Hathaway 7. Alicia Vikander 8. Laura Dern 9. Regina King 10. Melissa Leo
Hi Brian! I’ve seen all of your fantastic videos ranking the 2010s acting winners, and I don’t know if you have it on your plans already, but I would really love to see your ranking on the 2010s best director winners. I assure you I would be first in line to see it. Greetings from Mexico!!
Lupita and Regina are definitely my faves. Regina should’ve had at least 2 prior nominations (Ray and Jerry Maguire) and her TV work has been fantastic and a true star was born in Lupita.
Regarding Les Mis: a friend who had seen the movie twice before desperately wanted me to see the movie. I love musicals, but I was like "eh" on the trailers. But, I went. I love Hugh Jackman. I like Russell Crowe. I like Anne Hathaway and don't understand the hostility she gets. But, I was pretty much having none of this movie. Then, when the ending comes, my friend just starts sobbing, and I'm a girl who tears up at the slightest things, and I'm looking at my friend going "Why? What am I missing?" I start looking around the theater, and EVERYBODY is crying except for one guy who is doing the same thing I am -- looking around the theater baffled. Our eyes meet, and we exchange nods. Sadly, I never sought him out after the movie, because I think we could be soul mates.
I thought Florence Pugh in LITTLE WOMEN was one of the most over-rated performances in recent years. Especially when you compare her with Kirsten Dunst in the 94 version. (Granted, she didn't play the character all the way through, but she was unforgettable and stole the show in every one of her scenes.)
I absolutely agree with you about Helen Hunt. She was wonderful in the The Sessions and was my pick as well. And also the fact that John Hawkes wasn't even nominated for The Sessions for Best Actor is ridiculous to me. Great film. Anne deservedly won for Les Mis, but as much as I'm glad Kate Winslet (one of my favorite actresses ever) won an Oscar, Rachel Getting Married is the film that Anne Hathaway should have won for.
Here's the reasons why I believe Regina King won the Oscar that year despite missing both SAG & BAFTA. 1. Outside of King, there really was no support for anyone else that season. Emma Stone had won 2 years prior for Lala Land, Marina De Tavira, the nomination was the win itself, no one really wanted to give Amy Adams her Oscar for such a thankless role in Vice . And Rachel Weicsz could've won if The Favorite had performed better throughout the season. And I do think her win at BAFTA was just a BAFTA thing. 2. Regina King had been putting in great performances for years prior to Beale Street. She was great in this show called Southland, She was great in the final season of The Leftovers, and she won 2 Emmys for this ABC show called American Crime, and she managed to win 2 more Emmys after her Oscar win
You are so correct about Ex Machina. Sci-Fi doesn't stand a chance against most other genres, so many a superb performance, especially in sci-fi and fantasy and horror, get overlooked. Another reason I detest most biopics (which are nearly all "period dramas"). Even in the past ten years, we've gotten some exquisite performances in quite a few sci-fi, fantasy, and horror films, including Amy Adams in "Arrival", Toni Collette in "Hereditary", Vikander in "Ex-Machina", and Charlize Theron in "Mad Max" (how TF was she nominated for Bombshell and not Max?? F*in biopics! all her noms are for biopics!) The other voting actors should know better. Like I wonder, does Amy Adams snub sci-fi performances on her ballots?
I know some people like to bash Michelle Yeoh's win for EEAAO for 'WOKENESS RUINING HOLLYWOOD!!!!!", I firmly stand by that win not only being great for Asian representation but also for an Actress winning an Oscar for a Sci Fi Genre film.
Lupita needs more credit for other things she does as well. She is superb in Us. If you haven't watched A Quiet Place Day 1 please do so as everything is told on Lupita's incredible face.
I can’t see it happening for Lupita. IMO Blunt should have been nominated for her performance in QP 1: she won SAG that year but didn’t get further for an Oscar nom.
The Helen Hunt pick is so true. She is the soul of that film, so thoughtful, and tactful, honest and charming. Is a gentle, understated performance that deserved that win. Great choice!
Leo would’ve been 10 for me (and I’ve seen all of them). It just didn’t hit with me. I like her a lot, especially in Homicide, but I just feel like she was too hammy.
Here is my rankings for Best Supporting Actress this year: 1) Viola 2) Octavia 3) Lupita 4) Patricia 5) Regina 6) Allison 7) Anne 8) Melissa 9) Alicia 10) Laura
Oh wow! I had never even thought about this, but it's shocking to realise I don't love any of the 2010s winners in Best Supporting Actress. I've never cared to revisit any of these films. I've never cared to even RUclips a single scene of any of those performances. I remember seeing The Fighter twice in a movie theatre at the time and thinking that Leo is hilarious. Lupita is a great talent but she's a borderline one-dimensional cameo in 12 Years a Slave. She should've won an Oscar for US. Octavia won for playing a slave-maid... I mean... she's playing a more fascinating character in Hidden Figures. Don't get me started on Viola Davis and her "Look At Me! I'm a dramatic MASTERCLASS" trend. Dramatic Viola is doing the same thing over and over and over again. I prefer funny Viola in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom for instance. I'm not sure what part of Regina King's performance is "great" ... this is a very typical, very standard, and very forgettable performance. And if there's a win I completely disagree with, it has to be Allison Janney in I, Tonya - absolutely one-dimensional, she feels like the villain in a Cartoon Network animated series and never comes across as a real person.
This channel has shown me how frequent category fraud is, like it's ridiculous. Strategically putting certain performances in the wrong category to increase their chances of winning should not be allowed. Look at 1984's Amadeus. Both F. Murray Abraham and Tom Hulce were nominated for Best Actor, even though that meant that only one of them could win (which Abraham did). Same with Julianne Moore in The Hours, like come on, she was just as much a lead actress in that movie as Nicole Kidman (and Meryl Streep).
the thing is, it works in her favor…. if she was lead, she wouldn’t have won, even though she was way better than Emma Stone…. academy history is kinda notorious for overlooking black women in lead, but I’d love to see her as lead winner
10. Melissa Leo - my least favorite win in this category 9. Alicia Vikander 8. Anne Hathaway 7. Laura Dern 6. Lupita Nyong’o 5. Regina King 4. Viola Davis 3. Patricia Arquette 2. Allison Janney 1. Octavia Spencer ( Chastain is equally great)
My ranking. 10. Alicia Vikander (I'd of voted for any of the others over her) 9. Melissa Leo (Helena Bohan Carter would of been my pick) 8. Laura Dern (J.lo in Husterls was robbed of a nomination and win) 7. Regina King (Emily Blunt in A Quiet Place was robbed of a nomination and win) 6. Viola Davis (personally my pick would of been Michelle Williams in Manchester by the sea) 5. Lupita Nyong'o (Well deserved, plus I'd of liked Margot Robbie for Wolf on Wall Street to have been nominated) 4. Anne Hathaway 3. Patrica Arquette 2. Alison Janney 1. Octavia Spencer
So did Jennifer Hudson, Haing S. Ngor, Mercedes McCambridge, Anna Paquin, Eva Marie Saint, Tatum O'Neal, Barbra Streisand, Marlee Matlin, and Julie Andrews, just to name a few
My rankings: #1: Regina King #2: Viola Davis #3: Allison Janney #4: Octavia Spencer #5: Alicia Vikander #6: Lupita Nyong’o #7: Anne Hathaway #8: Melissa Leo #9: Laura Dern #10: Patricia Arquette Both Dern and Arquette are massively overrated and IMO not worthy of even being nominated 🤷♂️
I think Davis is one of the few cases where she is right at the line between Lead and Supporting. One on hand, she is the main actress, and her character has her own arc. On the other hand, thanks to the long run time, she's in about 35%-40% of the film, and there are large portions of this film where her character does not influence the story at all. (Compared with Ma Rainey, where her character is felt even when she's absent from the screen.)
Dern worn for Marriage Story because the Academy also wanted to award Renata Klein. Having said that, if she had won for Little Women it would have been so much better
Really enjoyable video. Just one thing, I’ve always found Regina King’s Oscar totally undeserved. She stood out for me in Beale Street for all the wrong reasons. She jumped right out the period. I’ve enjoyed her work in other things but never liked this one.
Viola Davis should have been nominated for the lead actress category. She was the female LEAD character in Fences. I think she would have one if she was in the lead category and the Naomie Harris could have won best supporting actress for Moonlight because she was phenomenal
Allison Janney is hysterical in Drop Dead Gorgeous if you haven’t seen it. (Also has Amy Adams!) I’m glad someone else feels the same about Les Miz. I thought Hathaway was amazing, and quite liked Eddie Redmayne and Samantha Barks, but overall, the movie was meh.
I haven't seen some of these movies, but I would rank them as follows 🤔 Lupita was definitely the best performance but she wasn't my favorite. Janney would be my favorite very closely followed by Spencer. Then Melissa Leo and Anne Hathaway
Laura Dern is great. but in that movie, I don’t know WHY or HOW she won that oscar….. I would rank Allison Janney higher, but when I saw Viola at number five, I thought twice 😅 her spot in 6th is actually pretty good
My favourite would be Octavia Spencer for The Help. She stole the film from Emma Stone, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Viola Davis in every scene she was in. A thoroughly deserved Oscar.
This one made me laugh hard.... I despize Patricia Arquette's win, it stands for me as The Second Worst acting Oscar Win of ALL TIME, right up there with Gwyneth Paltrow. And Anne Hathaway is just simply The Best Support Actress oscar win EVER, she was EVERYTHYNG
@@bigstan5002 It’s a good scene…. Very powerful and emotive, and one of the best of that year. I don’t mind that she won the Oscar. Best of all time though? Not even close.
The Danish Girl was a joke, and i was rooting for Jennifer to win for American Hustle. I found that performance way better than Silver Linings. Glad for Lupita though she killed it and im glad shes still kickin ass.
I love Lupita but I do think that if Jennifer Lawrence hadn't just won the year before she would've swept the season for American Hustle. Just couldn't take my eyes off her in that movie.
the cast differences between the Best lead Actress Oscar Wins vs the Best Supporting Actress Oscar wins is crazy. One is predominantly all white women and the other is majorly black women. it's like the academy award feel like no black actress is worth winning the best lead award
That’s exactly what it is!! Crazy thing is Brian is correct, Viola Should’ve been in the lead actress category, and she should have WON!! The fact that Halle Berry is still the only black women to win the actress category and it’s been more than 22 years it’s ridiculous
Yep, that’s why ish hit the fan with the whole Andrea Riseborough campaign and the Danielle Deadwyler snub. It’s also representative of a significant difference of available lead roles for black actresses who are often confined to supporting roles.
@@stephenhardy8934 it's just very sad that black actresses always have to settle for the supporting role award because that's where they have the highest chance at winning an Oscar
I take it that you are not a big fan of "Oscar Bait" performances. But whether you love it or hate it, the Academy loves it when an actress (whether for leading or supporting) literally goes all in for a role, and the mindset ain't going anywhere!
I'm with you re: Le Mis!! I never finished the entire film in one sitting (on HBO). Also I agree, that everything comes back to The Help (supporting Cicely Tyson, David Oyelowo, etc.)
Laura dern not memorable in a marriage story? her monologue was the most memorable thing in that film reminiscent of Marisa tomei in my cousin Vinny imo
Unpopular opinion: I would trade Lupita N'yongo win for 12 Years to a lead role win in "Us", and give Jennifer Lawrence the oscar because her in American Hustle is her best performance for me, and of course i would take away her undeserving oscar for Silver Linings and give it to Emmanuelle Riva
Vikander's cringey performance and character in The Danish Girl is for scared cis people who empathize with her rather than Lili. My number 1 is Patricia Arquette.
One thing I’m glad for is that Lupita has stuck around for as long as she has after her Oscar win. She could’ve easily been a flash-in-the-pan actress who won her Oscar and fell into obscurity. What a masterclass in acting 👏🏽
Lupita stole the show during that award season. She was serving fashion at every award show.
A star was really born
Lupita!! Still devastated by her snub in Lead Actress for Us 😢
That film was outstanding
Horror and comedy movies never get the love they deserve from the Academy
We all know Alicia Vikander's Oscar is for 'Ex-Machina'.
But it’s not…
She would have gone from #10 on this list to probably #6 or #5 honestly if she won for Ex Machina. A great true SUPPORTING role.
I was going to same thing, which is why I'm happy with her win.
About 1 month ago, I spied a blu-Ray of "Ex Machina" at a Goodwill store. I snapped it right up!
It was Oscar bias against genre films. Meanwhile she gets the win for arguably one of the most forgettable films ever made.
The thing with Laura Dern, when she won, she was one of the governors of the acting branch of the Academy, who already had significant influence over the people choosing the award. She ran a solid campaign, and no one really tried to fight her for it.

Brian I LOVE Les Miz! But I’m a mother so I can completely relate to Fantine’s pain! 😢😢😢
If Beale Street Could Talk was truly overlooked (besides best supporting actress). I imagine people were wanting either an uplifting, beautiful movie or a very serious downer of a movie. It did neither and yet both, and brilliantly.
Love these videos, Brian. I too think Alison Janney is a great actor but would've preferred Laurie Metcalfe to win that year.
My Top Ten:
1. Lupita Nyong'o
2. Patricia Arquette
3. Octavia Spencer
4. Viola Davis
5. Allison Janney
6. Anne Hathaway
7. Alicia Vikander
8. Laura Dern
9. Regina King
10. Melissa Leo
I feel Melissa Leo is number 10! She just not that memorable in the movie, Amy Adams should have won that year. That’s just my opinion.
But she amazing
So good brian make peaple remmber her role again
She was amazing in american crime. What a show.
My personal ranking:
1. Lupita
2. Patricia
3. Anne
4. Viola
5. Regina
6. Octavia
7. Allison
8. Laura
9. Melissa
10. Alicia
Lemme ask you something, do you intend to do like a series with the Oscar Ranking from each decade?
It would be awesome
I hope so!
Lupita needs more credit for other things she does as well. She is superb in Us.
If you haven't watched A Quiet Place Day 1 please do so as everything is told on Lupita's incredible face.
Haven't seen A Quiet Place Day 1 yet, do you think she has a chance to join the Oscar race?
In my world Lupita would be in the running for the A Quiet Place Day 1 performance. Alas the Academy won't highlight a horror / creature movie.
I can’t see it happening for Lupita. IMO Blunt should have been nominated for her performance in QP 1: she won SAG that year but didn’t get further for an Oscar nom.
I cried at the end of boyhood cuz when I saw it I had just Finished hs so I was masons age when the film ended so it hit me hard
The Helen Hunt pick is so true. She is the soul of that film, so thoughtful, and tactful, honest and charming. Is a gentle, understated performance that deserved that win. Great choice!
Name the movie
Leo would’ve been 10 for me (and I’ve seen all of them). It just didn’t hit with me. I like her a lot, especially in Homicide, but I just feel like she was too hammy.
Viola definitely should’ve been in Lead Actress for Fences. Ruth’s performance was the safer option for the voters.
Even though it wasnt nearly as popular, I GREATLY prefer the 90's version of Les Miserables with Liam Neeson and Geoffrey Rush
Here is my rankings for Best Supporting Actress this year: 1) Viola 2) Octavia 3) Lupita 4) Patricia 5) Regina 6) Allison 7) Anne 8) Melissa 9) Alicia 10) Laura
I just love Octavia Spencer! So glad she won for The Help
Alicia Vikander! Her award is 100% deserved. The movie was excellent. Eddie Redmayne also deserved an award.
Viola should have been the Lead Actress of that year.
the thing is, it works in her favor…. if she was lead, she wouldn’t have won, even though she was way better than Emma Stone…. academy history is kinda notorious for overlooking black women in lead, but I’d love to see her as lead winner
Rest of the movie aside, I definitely think Anne Hathaway deserved the win for “Les Mis”.
10. Melissa Leo - my least favorite win in this category
9. Alicia Vikander
8. Anne Hathaway
7. Laura Dern
6. Lupita Nyong’o
5. Regina King
4. Viola Davis
3. Patricia Arquette
2. Allison Janney
1. Octavia Spencer ( Chastain is equally great)
And as much as I enjoyed Octavia Spencer in The Help, I'll go to my grave believing Jessica Chastain gave the better performance.
My ranking.
10. Alicia Vikander (I'd of voted for any of the others over her)
9. Melissa Leo (Helena Bohan Carter would of been my pick)
8. Laura Dern (J.lo in Husterls was robbed of a nomination and win)
7. Regina King (Emily Blunt in A Quiet Place was robbed of a nomination and win)
6. Viola Davis (personally my pick would of been Michelle Williams in Manchester by the sea)
5. Lupita Nyong'o (Well deserved, plus I'd of liked Margot Robbie for Wolf on Wall Street to have been nominated)
4. Anne Hathaway
3. Patrica Arquette
2. Alison Janney
1. Octavia Spencer
Another great video! I can't find myself disagreeing with you at all in this one.
to think that Lupita Nyongo won an Oscar for her first movie is just top tier! loved her speech as well
So did Jennifer Hudson, Haing S. Ngor, Mercedes McCambridge, Anna Paquin, Eva Marie Saint, Tatum O'Neal, Barbra Streisand, Marlee Matlin, and Julie Andrews, just to name a few
@@MorganKing95 damn! that's a LOT of first timers good for them!
Dern was great in 99 Homes. Not the most three-dimensional character, but she made it work.
Rachel weisz's performance also one of the best supporting actress performances of all time ❤❤❤
Laura Dern's Oscar win was so undeserving!
My rankings:
#1: Regina King
#2: Viola Davis
#3: Allison Janney
#4: Octavia Spencer
#5: Alicia Vikander
#6: Lupita Nyong’o
#7: Anne Hathaway
#8: Melissa Leo
#9: Laura Dern
#10: Patricia Arquette
Both Dern and Arquette are massively overrated and IMO not worthy of even being nominated 🤷♂️
This should be a good one
I think Davis is one of the few cases where she is right at the line between Lead and Supporting. One on hand, she is the main actress, and her character has her own arc. On the other hand, thanks to the long run time, she's in about 35%-40% of the film, and there are large portions of this film where her character does not influence the story at all. (Compared with Ma Rainey, where her character is felt even when she's absent from the screen.)
Glad im not the only one who was surprised by thay Laura Dern win lmao
Dern worn for Marriage Story because the Academy also wanted to award Renata Klein. Having said that, if she had won for Little Women it would have been so much better
Really enjoyable video. Just one thing, I’ve always found Regina King’s Oscar totally undeserved. She stood out for me in Beale Street for all the wrong reasons. She jumped right out the period. I’ve enjoyed her work in other things but never liked this one.
Kate Winslet was superb in Steve Jobs. She should have won in her year.
(Also has Amy Adams!)
I’m glad someone else feels the same about Les Miz. I thought Hathaway was amazing, and quite liked Eddie Redmayne and Samantha Barks, but overall, the movie was meh.
Samantha Barks was my favorite part of the movie
I haven't seen some of these movies, but I would rank them as follows 🤔
Lupita was definitely the best performance but she wasn't my favorite.
Yeah, I totally felt the same about Les Miserables. After the first 10 minutes… I stopped the DVD.
Please make video about Best Pictures Oscars win in 2010s Ranked❤ Thank you🎉
Danish Girl was heartbreaking!❤
Somewhat unrelated, the non-musical Les Miserables from 2019? Is my favorite.
Laura Dern should have got an Oscar for Inland Empire
This one made me laugh hard.... I despize Patricia Arquette's win, it stands for me as The Second Worst acting Oscar Win of ALL TIME, right up there with Gwyneth Paltrow.
And Anne Hathaway is just simply The Best Support Actress oscar win EVER, she was EVERYTHYNG
Anne Hathaway is the best of all time? Now that’s delusion 😳😳😳
@@garryd7748 Actually not, like, it's kinda obvious tbh... The "I Dreamed A Dream" scene alone already deserved 15 Oscars by itself:
@@bigstan5002 It’s a good scene…. Very powerful and emotive, and one of the best of that year. I don’t mind that she won the Oscar. Best of all time though? Not even close.
The Danish Girl was a joke, and i was rooting for Jennifer to win for American Hustle. I found that performance way better than Silver Linings. Glad for Lupita though she killed it and im glad shes still kickin ass.
laurie metcalf is so good in ladybird, I am so so sad she didn't win more. Love Janey, but COME ON
I would like to hear your thoughts on the Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor winners of the 00s
¨I did it all by myself¨
I would say the same like Allison lol
❤ love you! 10 and 9 spot on! Exactly what I thought! And Amy adams is brilliant . Viola Davis is acting Viola Davis in every scene. Sorry no.
Viola Davis ❤
Please ranking best picture winns
I love Lupita but I do think that if Jennifer Lawrence hadn't just won the year before she would've swept the season for American Hustle. Just couldn't take my eyes off her in that movie.
I am biased as I have loved Laura Dern since Smooth Talk.
This category has had more black actresses win in this decade than any other decade in Academy history
the cast differences between the Best lead Actress Oscar Wins vs the Best Supporting Actress Oscar wins is crazy.
@@stephenhardy8934 it's just very sad that black actresses always have to settle for the supporting role award because that's where they have the highest chance at winning an Oscar
great video what about Jamie Lee Curtis it was a great performance
She won in 2023 for a movie that was released in 2022. That OBVIOUSLY didn't belong in this list that is for Oscar wins in the 2010s
I take it that you are not a big fan of "Oscar Bait" performances.
But whether you love it or hate it, the Academy loves it when an actress (whether for leading or supporting) literally goes all in for a role, and the mindset ain't going anywhere!
Les Mis is just a bad movie with good acting. I'm with you on that.
Can't argue with your number one choice. What a revelation!
Are we getting supporting performances of the 2000s?
