Def Leppard has more hits than I can count! Literally one of the deepest catalogs of hits of all time! They have several entire albums that have no bad songs !! Rabbit hole worthy!
I was in 8th grade when this came out. Couldn't wait till class was over so I could listen to Def Leppard. Def Leppard was played on every station 4-5 times an hour. They had more than one song in rotation so you could literally spin the dial and hear it anytime you wanted.
8th grade for me, too. Our art teacher had us design album covers for bands for one assignment. She thought she'd be cool and name off a few musical acts for us as suggestions, like "Jeff Leopard. . . ." 🐆🎸🎶 Remember that guy? 😉🙂

He actually sang "look what you done to this Rock 'n Roll clown". She made him long for her. He only has a photograph but he really wants her. Side note is Rick Allen the drummer has both arms in this video. After this lp he got in a car accident and lost his left arm. Through the miracle and technology he helped invent a set of drums that he could play snare drum with his left foot, being probably the first drummer, certainly the first professional drummer to do so. His band stuck by him as true brothers would. Love your reactions. 👍
@@jeremybilbrey1133 don't know if I'd say it completely changed their sound because they were always guitari oriented with layers upon layers of guitar riffs not just lead and Rhythm you'd have two sets of scales going to Leeds going and then layering that layering that in different octaves and Rhythm very intricate . The song is about Marilyn Monroe. It’s basically saying she is an unrealistic fantasy and out of touch in real life. All he has is a photograph. The video plays with that idea, and adds the mystery element as to how she died so young. It could also be seen as a murder mystery movie and she’s the star. This was a huge hit in 83 in the early days of MTV.
i think you are making it a little simple, but i think its more any person realistic or not but all you have is a picture, nothing you can touch, and you want more.
She isn't the only person I think of when I think of the unrealistic fantasy part of it. If this was written in the 90s, it could easily have been about Cindy Crawford or Claudia Schiffer, minus the untimely death/foul play aspect. And if it was written in the present day, it could easily be about Kate Upton...again, minus the untimely death aspect of the song. I'm sure they could have come up with something great had they been faced with the challenge of writing that song in the present day. It's timeless. That's one reason why I think it still holds up today.
The song is about Marilyn Monroe but it's about deadly obsession too. Many people even up to now, don't believe she overdosed and that there's some kind of cover-up. Idk for sure or really care, she's before my time, but that's the stuff I've heard down the years.
Joe Elliot is on record saying it wasn’t written about Marilyn, it’s just that the video put that idea in people’s mind, to the extent that the band presents it as a song about her in live shows, even though it isn’t really. It’s about crushing on an unspecified celebrity.

I just love how your smile keeps getting bigger as you get in to the song. Let's just say, I was way younger when this song came out as I was working at a record store back in the early 80's. Only the lonely by the Motels should also be reacted to. I think the song is about a fantasy love for Marilyn. Candle in the Wind by Elton John (also done with Melbourne Symphony) is a beautiful homage to Marilyn, with the POV of a person looking back and wishing he had known her

I suggested them when I first started watching your reactions several months ago and glad to see you like them. I've seen them in concert 3 times. They have many great songs but one of my favorites is off their 1st commercially available album in the USA, High and Dry called Bringin' On The Heartbreak from 1981. Technically had a 3 song EP in 1979 and an album in 1980 before I heard of them in the UK.
Welcome to the wonderful Rock world of my all time favourite and, in my opinion the best ever British, Hard Rock band Def Leppard. Most people like yourself maybe only really think of Def Leppard from their fourth album Hysteria onwards ie Pour Some Sugar On Me, Animal,Hysteria etc but this great song is from their third album Pyromania from the EARLY EIGHTIES FOR FLIPS SAKE and you as a new generation lady is loving it nearly 40 years later That's how good this band is.Like Hysteria there isn't a bag song on Pyromia.Ive seen them twice in Belfast over here across the pond in Northern Ireland and once in Dublin,Republic Of Ireland when they were supported by my favourite AOR band Journey. What a night that was.🎸🎹🥁
Hey Shiloh...one of your videos showed up in my 'recommendation' list and I decided to watch. It may have been this one for Photograph. Two hours later I think I had watched about 20 of your videos. I really appreciate how you are adventurous to check out some of the classics from the 50's-the 80's. My three favorites are: Bridge over troubled water (original version), Stayin' Alive and Stranger in a strange land. Here's a few more great songs you should check out... YOU'RE MY BEST FRIEND - QUEEN Faithfully - Journey Don't Stop Believin' - Journey Yesterday - The Beatles Foolin' and Rock of Ages - Def Leppard Back in Black - ACDC Walking on Sunshine - Katrina and the Waves Jump - Van Halen Dance the night away - Van Halen Panama - Van Halen
Def Leppard has created a lot of amazing music over the years. They probably peaked with the Hysteria album. The Pyromania album was my personal favourite though.
It has to be said that very few bands bring excitement to their songs like Def Leppard could. BTW, if you're in the mood for an awesome power ballad, you should check out their song 'Love Bites'. Another song of their with a more mellow, dreamy vibe is 'Hysteria'. You won't regret it!
Def Leppard one of my favorite Rock Bands of all Time. R.I.P Steve Clarke He said “ Look what you have done to this rock n roll clown.. Great reaction Shiloh. your the best. ....Be Safe.🎸🤡

This video brings back so many memories from the late '80s and early '90s. My cousins used to have this vhs video called Historia and it was like best of Def Leppard in videos. Me and my buddy used to borrow it and watch it over and over again 😅 Sometimes my baby sister used to watch/listen while me and my buddy did now she says she's actually listening to these guys!
In an interview with Joe Elliott he talked about how he came up with the name. In art class when he was a kid he asked to draw a poster for a rock show instead of a fruit bowl /still life. He had an awesome art teacher that said go for it. He actually spelled Deaf Leopard but changed it when he got older. Great interview. He's such a cool, laid back guy.
Seen them live in concert in the late 80's and they are AWESOME live!!...a band called TESLA opened up for them, another band you should check out!,,,oh ...rock n roll clown lol
Hey, I saw them with Tesla in '87 up in Portland, Maine, I was 17 at the time. They killed it and Tesla was pretty good too! Seems like yesterday and then, out of nowhere, I'm 50!?!? Turns out.... time actually does fly!! Peace...
Be sure in addition to check out not only their music videos like “Rock of Ages”, “Animal”, “Pour Some Sugar on Me”, and “Let’s Get Rocked”, but also look for (and maybe react to) their induction into the 2019 Rock And Roll Hall of Fame by Queen guitarist Brian May, as well as their induction speech by their lead singer, Joe Elliott.
The song is about being in love with, or at least having a huge crush on, someone you can't have. Since the singer always liked Marylin Monroe, they used her in the video to express the idea of loving someone you can't have.
SHILOH!!!! AWESOME that you reacted to my FAVORITE band Def Leppard! LOVED IT! There are SO many more Def Leppard videos to react to! Also, wondering if you plan on reacting to any of Morissette's new video's? You really should check out her original song/video "PHEONIX" and her "Could You Be Messiah". They are both INCREDIBLE!
Mutt Lange is the producer. 1981, 2 years before this, he produced 4 for Foreigner. Mutt + Foreigner hired Thomas Dolby to play keyboards. In 1983, Mutt brought TD to do the same thing for Pyromania including this song. Both 4 + Pyromania have attributes of a Mutt Lange production: vocal harmonies, tight basslines, drum sound. More Def Leppard. Rock of Ages, Rocket, Pour Some Sugar on Me, Animal
Check out "Hello America", one of their very early recordings.. When they arrived in America and started touring and released their music, noone in the USA believed or knew they were English , they just assumed they were American because of the style of music and the way Joe sings 😂 So that was one of the reasons you often see the Union Jack flag somewhere, either being worn as a tshirt by Joe, or a teeny-tiny pair of Union Jack shorts worn by Rick Allen (the drummer).. 😂👍 Bon Jovi, Poison, Motley Crüe and Skid Row were all heavily inspired by our mighty Lepp 😃🤘🤘🤘 You can see why, tight pants, big hair, make-up, crazy neon videos, I certainly love a man who likes to show that side of himself 🥰🤣😁😁😁
These guys were great and still are cool. You will not see a one-armed drummer ( now)hit the drums and sound like this.A great English group that has been around over 40 years now with many hits.If you liked this one,you will love “ Foolin’ “.
IMO, Def Leppard had the best harmony as a band. They are neck and neck for me with Zepplin, as my favorite bands, excluding Enigma. Great reaction and your hair looks very nice.
Go early one album of theirs to "Let It Rock"!!!! This is sort of like a 20 year anniversary of Marilyn. She died in 63". It's more crazy that this song is almost 40 years old, and 20 after she died. She was amazing, smart, self taught, dancer, singer, actress, gorgeous...
Loved your reaction. You’ll have to try their song “ pour some sugar on me”. That’s when the drummer Rick Allen has one arm. He still kicks at playing drums.
"Pour Some Sugar On Me" is another one of their popular songs, you might want to add that to your list. I always liked Def Leppard. I find a lot of music videos to be a distraction from the song unless it is concert footage.
One of the things that stands out about Def Leppard from a lot of the "pop metal" bands of the 80s is that they actually focused on the instruments, not just the singer & a look. It's probably why they remained respected after "glam metal" (something they were never part of anyway) died off.
Well hello Shiloh I’m glad you’re doing Def Leppard they had an edgier sound when the did the High n Dry album they have old videos of Bringing on a heart ache, Saturday, and the song High n Dry , stuff that came out a lil later like Loves Bites, Hysteria, Animal are also great . Thank you for your channel

The song is about being in love with, or at least having a huge crush on, someone you can't have. Since the singer always liked Marylin Monroe, they used her in the video to express the idea of loving someone you can't have.
Your gonna love this journey.... "Pour Some Sugar On Me" should be next for Def Leppard. You may even recognize parts of it! Keep 'em coming..... :)
Love the lyrics...they are DEEP!
The drummer only has one arm and still plays like a charm WOW
Definitely enjoy your reactions to the videos
went crazy’s t the end 🔥🔥🔥
Check out "Hello America", one of their very early recordings..
When they arrived in America and started touring and released their music, noone in the USA believed or knew they were English , they just assumed they were American because of the style of music and the way Joe sings 😂
So that was one of the reasons you often see the Union Jack flag somewhere, either being worn as a tshirt by Joe, or a teeny-tiny pair of Union Jack shorts worn by Rick Allen (the drummer).. 😂👍
Bon Jovi, Poison, Motley Crüe and Skid Row were all heavily inspired by our mighty Lepp 😃🤘🤘🤘
You can see why, tight pants, big hair, make-up, crazy neon videos, I certainly love a man who likes to show that side of himself 🥰🤣😁😁😁
These guys were great and still are cool. You will not see a one-armed drummer ( now)hit the drums and sound like this.A great English group that has been around over 40 years now with many hits.If you liked this one,you will love “ Foolin’ “.
😍 it’s honestly your skin for me😍
IMO, Def Leppard had the best harmony as a band. They are neck and neck for me with Zepplin, as my favorite bands, excluding Enigma. Great reaction and your hair looks very nice.
Love this song and video , came out when i was a kid, thankyou, lover your reaction
One of the best rock songs of all time.
Here are a few other classic Def Leppard songs I recommend that you should react to... "Rock Of Ages".. " Foolin"... and "Hysteria"
And Run Riot. If you really want to rock you have to listen to Run Riot!
@@rcgunner7086 the entire high and dry album too
@@augustusgloop9330 most things they made from 1980-92
Seen them in iowa cedar rapids, awesome. My buddy had same t shirt as lead guitarist guitarist
You might want to listen to one of the best rock ballads of all time by def leppard. It's called Love Bites. It's just phenomenal.
I seen these guys live in July 2019. Still amazing!!!!
Def Leppard are one of the only bands to have two 'Diamond' albums, which is an album that sold over 10 million copies.
Yes you were rocking it out 👍
Go early one album of theirs to "Let It Rock"!!!!
This is sort of like a 20 year anniversary of Marilyn. She died in 63". It's more crazy that this song is almost 40 years old, and 20 after she died. She was amazing, smart, self taught, dancer, singer, actress, gorgeous...
TRUE mid 80s classic .... ARMAGEDDON IT is well worth a try.
Loved your reaction. You’ll have to try their song “ pour some sugar on me”. That’s when the drummer Rick Allen has one arm. He still kicks at playing drums.
Def Leppard is an awesome band, sit back and enjoy the music. Only band I know who has a one arm drummer.
IT's rock in roll c l o w n ! Photograph is a song about Marlyn Monroe Since she is deceased, all we have of her NOW is a Photograph.
Different time and era you would have to live in that time to really feel it, glad I lived in that time, 80’s kid
WOW! This brings me back to high school!!
