All Irish people sing...so true ! Beautiful country, beautiful people. Edge is a genius. So simple, so talented, so beautiful. His sound and his music are gifts. Purity of his voice, unforgettable and powerful arpeggios. Kisses from France
The Edge will have an absolutely incredible solo career right up until the end if, God forbid, U2 were to ever disband. He's a musical genius no question.
I don't sing he says. He's got a certain haunting feeling about him. Edge keeps it real. Does anyone miss U2 from the Joshua Tree/Rattle and Hum days? When the songs and performances touched your soul...
@@gordpedersen543 i was 1987 on U2 's Concert the Joshua Tree...it was graet i never forget to See them live,Till this time ,i Take IT in my haert ... every time ,thanks you all 😎✌️
@@harlowethrombey7665 Seconds is a great song! Haven’t thought about it in a long time. I wore out the cassette of that War album many times back in the day. 🙂
You could always tell the man could sing just from his backing vocals, but jeez, Edge if you ever decide to do a solo album I'd definitely be interested in hearing it.
Edge is so humble. Actually, as far as I know, Edge used to sing and he has such an amazing voice. When he sings Sunday Bloody Sunday I can feel a spark hitting my spine and my chest
I knew The Edge had a lovely voice from hearing him sing backing vocals, but my god this is gorgeous. I think I'm even more in love with this song now... both versions.
Would be amazing if this acoustic version, with the Edge singing, was included on the next world tour...and it's an Achtung Baby 30th anniversary tour!
I say he is more than the soul of the band.... i add he is the technician, the genius and the scientist... every band has at least one, he is that one.... but collectively they are so good together....
Whilst edge might not be be best technical guitarist in the world, he's one of the greatest artists, who proves time and time again that less is often more. He's the backbone of U2 in my opinion.
Edge, Bono, Larry & Adam - Sirs, thank you for writing this song. You are angels sent from heaven and vessels of this divine song. The vibrations that emanate from this song lifts me up to God and His divine power. I was 16 when I first heard this song and it gave me so much hope. I first heard "a la la de day" as "I have a lot of days" and the power that that phrase gave me is beyond words... The most beautiful lyrics of hope ever written can be found in this song. I'm in my 40s now and this still moves me to my core. ❤💛❤🧡❤💛❤ Thank you from the bottom of my heart.🦄🤍
I had literally tears in my eyes, at the first verse when The Edge began to sing. He have such a nice, warm and beautiful voice. Just like Bono.. I was already fan by hearing this song!
Music runs through this man’s veins!! The control in his voice… the vocals didn’t disappoint because I love Bono’s so much… Beautiful!! I would love to sing my heart out with an Irish..
While I enjoy and appreciate Bono's vocalization, I have always felt (going back to the 70s, that Edge had more subtle range and control. That may very well come from the unbridled passion that Bono has driving his voice ... no criticisms here BTW
I fell in love instantely with U2 when i was 17 . I heard I will follow and i was sold. I,m 54 yewrs of age now and still love U2 . Since i,m incognito here i might as well confess that i have a crush on Bono since then☺️.!
One of my biggest Guitar Heroes (and Musical Inspirations). The man is a 'Sonic Genius' , when it comes to Guitar Soundscapes and Riffs, etc...and he has a bloody good voice, too!
Bono wouldn't have done this (make me love U2's music) without the Edge..Together, their two voices and the unique sound to their music....make U2 awesome.
Listened to David play for 30 years. Really love how the technician/magician comes out just a little more each time I hear him play. It like a little soul coming out to play! Great job as always.
I first the Band play this in 1989 on 31st Dec going into 1990. The concert was broadcast on Radio 1 in the UK. They intertwined it with "Dirty Old Town" which is an old Manchester song. I digress. I write lyrics of songs that are important to me on paper and put them up in my office. I don't read the lyrics off the sleeves, I just do it by listening. This in 1990 was the very first one (from the night before). Took me about 2 days and a lot of paper to get it right.
beautiful. . . can't breathe kind of beautiful. This song has meant many things to me over the years, 18, 26, 33, 38, 41. It never fails me, but, this version. . . . it says everything.
Jenny. I’m 53 and agree with you . How good now are Boy and October after all these years? And my favourites Achtung Baby and Joshua Tree (and Unforgettable Fire).
he's just a legend... such a humble, down to earth guy... when you listen to his "solo" in With or Without You, it's the simplest yet one of the most powerful and moving solos ever... and spookily enough Edge comes from Legend...
What’s annoying is cover band guitarists judging... (Learn it like the record eh?) I love this one better than the studio or any full band live recording. Thank you for doing this Edge
Dave you know - you and the band - are beyond special. Have been with you guys since October. Back in the day - you guys always said - we don't want to be - play the record and instant wow success - God has blessed the 4 beyond measure - and I am so - not just a fan but a fellow brother - whom you may never meet now - but that's okay - just know how special the 4 are - how they conquered the world - how they honored the Father always.
"I don't sing", and then proceeds to melt my ears with his sweet melodic voice.
The Edge is an underrated genius on guitar with such creativity and a great voice.
My favorite U2 song of all time!
Edge has an angelic voice
It's the reason I call music the language of eternity. When all is said and done...the Angels will sing!
Ikr. When he said he doesn’t sing that threw me
"I don't sing". Enough of that nonsense fella. This is a sublime performance. Beautiful.
One of my favorites. Great job the Edge
It always amazes me how similar The Edge and Bono's voices are.
It was meant to be...
Sounds more like George Harrison to me.
Decades of listening to Bono sing will do that.
Well they are complementary, but many years beside Bono listening to him..😅
Hes the best musician in the last 40 years.
Ladies and gentlemen . . . the Architect and Engineer of the U2 sound.
Rien de plus beau à écouter je crois ! David Evans est le maître de U2
J adore votre commentaire
U2 have a body which is made by Larry and Adam. A heart which is Bono. And a brain which is Edge.

Technically, Edge is Welsh. He was born in England to Welsh parents.
He wasn’t lying! Don’t give up the day job Mr Edge
Meh.
@bruceatwell6031 Yes, you are "meh".
Amen 😢😂😅❤
When I was in primary school, The Joshua Tree vinyl came to my hand and it was one of the best things that happened in my life.
I love this. I love The Edge's humility, his talent and his loyalty.
Caroline A me too he is my number 1 guitar hero x

3:24 is why there will never be another Edge in our lifetimes.
I think most people would be surprised if they knew exactly how much Edge actually sings on most albums. Great talent..
I wish I could "not sing" that well. What a skilled musician!
The Edge will have an absolutely incredible solo career right up until the end if, God forbid, U2 were to ever disband. He's a musical genius no question.

One of the great songs they have ever done. It was never a “hit” but is a better song then many of their great, legitimate “hit” songs.
Edge has a great voice. One of my favorite U2 songs is Van Diemen’s Land, which I’m pretty sure he sings lead on.
He does
He sang lead on ‘Seconds’ and sang Sunday Bloody Sunday on the PopMart tour. He should do a solo album at some point.

He's the heart and soul of U2.
Yes, if you look you will see that he has composed alot of their songs. He has a beautiful voice and should sing more in the band.
Total respect... The soul of U2!
it hit's my soul, absolutely!!! yeah:)
Watching Edge perform is just mesmerizing

He has a solo album entitled "Captive"

The Edge's musical ear and a lifetime of listening to Bono's voice did it
Very underrated singer
Edge has always had an amazing voice. If Bono can’t do it anymore for any reason then Edge can. Oh he so can.
Great version. The edge is the soul of u2
I say he is more than the soul of the band.... i add he is the technician, the genius and the scientist... every band has at least one, he is that one.... but collectively they are so good together....
What is SO BEAUTIFUL.. he is self taught ... Built his own guitars .. And he is a humble soul💙
Thank you Edge for showing us how to play this song unplugged. Excellent job.

Jimmy Page described him as a “sonic genius”.

What a talented man. God Bless you, your band, Bono, all of U2. I love EDGE.

Eres un poeta de la guitarra
Eres el corazón de U2... eres la melodía de U2... mueves al mundo con tu música
An artist out of their element, singing a song of loss with nothing but passion, and nailing it. Nothing to protest or fault here.
If I could hit "thumbs up" every time I listen to this.........I love it so.
This is why U2’s harmonies are so great, although little noticed or credited. Edge is singing background harmony on so many of their songs.

- This version hit me right in the heart.
The beautiful emotional tones this guy and u2 give…
