Lyrics:
Love is blindness, I don't want to see
Won't you wrap the night around me?
Oh, my heart, love is blindness.
In a parked car, in a crowded street
You see your love made complete.
Thread is ripping, the knot is slipping
Love is blindness.
Love is clockworks and cold steel
Fingers too numb to feel.
Squeeze the handle, blow out the candle
Love is blindness.
Love is blindness, I don't want to see
Won't you wrap the night around me?
Oh, my love,
Blindness.
A little death without mourning
No call and no warning
Baby, a dangerous idea
That almost makes sense.
Love is drowning in a deep well
All the secrets, and no one to tell.
Take the money, honey...
Blindness.
Love is blindness, I don't want to see
Won't you wrap the night around me?
Oh, my love,
Blindness. Видеоклипы
The legendary Edge
Edgendary
David Evans aka The Edge
Living Legend! Greetings from Brazil.
Edge has always an amazing voice. It's similar enough to Bono's to compliment it, yet has it's own unique quality.
I've always said I'd pay good money to see Edge and Larry Mullen do a stripped down set of U2 songs. Just an acoustic guitar, some bongos and Edge's voice.
The most criminally underrated musician on the planet ....past & Present .
Amen. David Evans is definitely one of my all time favourite musicians; super talented.
@@nickkabbabe1953 Yeo , he sure is . A class act who carries himself with a quiet dignity
He's criminally overrated though...
@@cietai9843 your criminally insane
I wouldn't say that the guitar player from one of the most popular bands in the world is underrated.
Why doesn't he sings more often on his own? His voice is absolutely beautiful!
Well, you're right. But I still would like him to sing alone more often
His pop sang in the Welsh Choir. Edge sings lead on Seconds on the War album and Van Diemen's Land on Rattle Hum.
Dyonisos
I love his short parts in stuck in a moment and miracle drug.
Clara Pezzini yes, why doesn't do something like numb?
Anything
He can't replace Bono in any way
Of course in performance sense
Edge broke two strings recording the solo for the studio version, he poured all his emotion over his divorce into those notes. This version sounds like him looking back at past experiences instead, wiser and more collected. I love it.
I've always stated that as one of the most overlooked solos ever. Just from pure emotion.
He almost sounds like Bono
Edge was the frontman at one point early on... Fantastic artist as is his brother Dick☘️
Context: Edge never breaks strings… but he did for this song (Bono wrote this song because he saw his friend was in pain.)
Great fuckin call AMF
One of U2's best lyrics. "love is clockworks/cold steel/fingers too numb to feel/squeeze the handle/blow out the candle/blindness" Pure gold.
mcphisto85 the setting off of a bomb. Those of us who lived through the IRA campaigns of the 1980s are a bit less sanguine.
mcphisto85 what an album finale.. them 3 final songs best ending to an album ever..
Kerie Receveur It’s a reference to suicide, by gun, because of infidelity. Nothing to do with the IRA.
@@horsemanpit8812 where did you read this?
@@horsemanpit8812 bollards, pet.
His acoustic guitar playing in this video is amazing. Simple riff and a solo, but so incredibly emotional and effective. Truly one of the greatest guitarists of all times.
No
@@nightlover5194 The man is a one off and his band has more good songs than virtually any other in history.
Night Lover But he’s one of the most influential guitarists ever. By far. As simple and easy as his playing is.
The most influential in the last 40 years.
Ask people like Tim Pierce, who’s recorded on literally thousand of sessions for most of the “royalty of pop” out there, from Michael Jackson or Crowded house to Adele.
The cultural impact of The Edge’s approach to guitar is immense, and one of the few departs from blues based guitar playing.
As much is I love Jimi, Jimmy, Beck, SRV and respect Zappa, Van Halen, Eric Johnson... I admire the musical language that the Edge developed with the constraint of not approaching playing guitar like it had been up to 1980.
Edge is a poet ...
charly ...and a cutie😻
Vrai un véritable poète ,fantastique
I could sit and listen to Edge play the guitar and sing all day long and I really do not care who knows it.
me too and in fact in my spare time I do.
The Edge is very talented. Not only is he a great guitarist but his voice is incredible. This is why U2s vocal harmonies are so good.
A beautiful performance. The Edge has a great talent, he's one of a kind. His voice and Bono's are pretty much alike. Thanks God there are artists like him and bands like U2.
It certainly helps with blending!
This song has been haunting me for years. This version is beautiful and makes me see TE differently.
+coffeescup Yes, this version is more haunting, more raw. The emotions come alive, although the album version does offer something too. The haunting of the voice here is to be found in the sound of the song...
This version haunts like a sad lullaby. The album version reminds me on an operas end.
Perfect description. They both touch me deeply. This version is the quiet feelings late at night that pass in a whisper, but feel just as intense.
The Edge wrote this song when his first wife left him. That's why the sorrow sounds so authentic..it is.
I agree. It is beautiful. My favorite version of the song
He really is a fine singer. U2 should have had at least one Edge lead vocal per album.
He has the voice of an angel
This performance makes me mourn the lack of solo work from him. Such a brilliant musician, he brings something different to the table when he is the focus
One of the all time great musicians.
What an amazing guitarist and what an an amazing song writer and singer (yes, he co-wrote this song since this song is about his 1990 divorce). So much emotions with a simple acoustic guitar.
They separated in 1990 but didn't divorce til 1996 - because it was ot legal in Reland til 1995.
Roger Mahajan The song was wrote by Bono in 1988 and was going to feature on Rattle and Hum but the shelved it. It was the pulled back out by Bono in 1990 while The Edge was having problems with his wife and that's when they recorded it.
Like many of their songs, there's a double meaning. It's a song about both emotional violence, and terrorism. The lyrics about a parked car, clockwork and cold steel, death without a call or warning, are about car bombs.
One of my fave U2/songs of all time. Love love love. I didnt know it was Edge that sang this all this time! wow. he sounds exactly like Bono on this song!
that moment when a guitar player sings better than most contemporary artists
Dead on.
That's because he's Welsh
@Tomos Snow born to a Welsh family in England both his parents are Welsh.
Seanachie's Court
The Irish and Welsh musical influences is clearly a brilliant combination. Great and surprising performance vocally from the Edge. The acoustic guitar sounded really beautiful as well.
True! The Edge has got a great voice....I'd never heard him sing before....how???? He should sing more often. Maybe get Bono to share more of the singing on any future U2 albums (assuming there will be more to come?). Btw, not saying Bono shouldn't sing lol, just that when you have a guitarist who's got a good voice, you should use him more to support both you the lead singer, and a particular song.
Edge's voice doesn't compare to Bono's voice. This voice is stable and he sings so very musically . He is never out of tune , sings lines , legato's . He is a wonderful musician.
Wow. I'm not familiar with U2's work (almost unimaginable I know, given their prominence), but as a guitarist I've been quite aware of Edge's innovative playing. I just didn't realise how beautiful his voice was/is. Incredibly impressive.
ZOO TV Live version of this song is unbelievably good. Honestly you are truly missing out by being unfamiliar with U2 as they have so many great songs. Achtung Baby is the album this song is off; and it just may be U2's best album. Each song is amazing.
*U2 WAR is my all-time favorite album* "Drowning Man" is one of the most powerful songs ever created!@@nickkabbabe1953
NO WORDS ..JUST AN ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE FROM EDGE HERE...I SALUTE YOU SIR EDGE
U2 are simply the best of all time .
True in a sense that they are the band with the most longevity able to keep great quality in their work. I'd say they are the best band on the long time. The Stones were done after 20 years.
I always loved his voice too. Especially on Rattle and Hum.
Why not just have one track on the next U2 album with Edge singing and his guitar.
Funk
Crimsonphilosophy I always think that myself, he sang Numb on Zooropa. But that was a good good while ago.
Also I think, would he ever do a solo album. He did the soundtrack on the film captive .
A lot of famous guitar players so some solo stuff, John Fruciante don't know how to spell that !!
And others but he maybe just wants to remain in a band with them all being best mates so that's probably why
Just give him like three or four albums. ill be okay with that.
Van Diemen's Land was sang by The Edge alone (2nd song on album Rattle and Hum)
God touched him with amazing musical talent ✊- 5 time concert veteran of U2
never heard the edge sing on his own before, this is fantastic give us more please.
Absolutely beautiful. Very heartfelt. He's a magnificent singer. Love his voice. Reaches into my soul
Simplicity is what I love most about this video.
in a parked car, in a crowded street...
I was in their concert in 92', I remember the exact moment when this song started and I will never forget it
So do I April 7th, 1992 Houston...just so powerful
'one' driving in a back street in Berlin in early 1992
One of my fave U2 lyrics. Works well as a poem too.
Am I the only person that think that his voice is like Bono's voice? they are similar...
+The Music of The Night That's why they harmonize so well.
+tpro skyebo yeah 😍
+The Music of The Night Yeah, even Bono says people confuse their two voices a lot of times.
+Eric Guel Really?😄 I didn't know it
+The Music of The Night They have a similar vocal range. The Edge's voice is a little thinner. Larry Mullen can actually sing also but he rarely does. He sang a drinking song acapella in a concert in Philly I saw back in the early 90's.
Such a lovely voice he has. I so wish he could perform solo during one the U2 shows. ♥
I have always appreciated the lack of Ego battle in U2. They are all U2, all 4. This is the strength of U2. Unity. And Music.
It's amazing how much he sounds like Bono.
Edge is the man!
Such a talented and beautiful man with a beautiful voice.
His voice is a real surprise. I recall the track “ numb” and only knew him vocally for that
For those who disliked this beautiful soul and the loveliness of his voice… you have no soul.
But so much!
This is my favorite version of this song. Especially having seen the movie and knowing the back story. I don't know how he holds it together.
My favorite song from Achtung Baby. This version is KILLER.
such a deep and powerful song beautifully sung by an amazing musician
and he sings it with such sorrow
The Edge's stellar performance gives this song a completely different, more sombre feel. Just beautiful.
fookin deadly, the edge!
Amazing solo performance and amazing acoustic guitar solo. This song is about The Edge's divorce so you can see his emotions in there. The Edge oozes talent in everything. He is one of the greatest guitarist, a great song writer, composer, pianist and also vocalist.
Nothing can't beat this version!
the complicated reason I'm listening to this right now. I was listening to Amy Winehouse "I heard love is blind" (a title that always reminds me of this amazing tune, that I particularly love)…and all comments were so full of anger against someone it shocked me. No respect at all for the artist, so I decided to turn on this track to read the comments. Really. Just to read something nice about a great artist. Music should be about this. Love. Passion. Commitment. Thank you for this amazing piece of your soul, man. Love to all U2 fans.
Singing to an empty theatre. An Hymn to the humble ones.
The voice, sounds great. 👏🏻👏🏻
Edge is the most underrated guitarist but an absolute gem in the hiding. His guitar playing oozes a passion that nobody can beat. Simply love him ❤️❤️❤️
Just Perfect...
Simple, beauty and intimal performance...
Its so much of him in this cover...
I mean personal...
that was i wanted to say
What cover? It's his OWN song!
The Edge can do no wrong. Love his vocals!
The EDGE is on the edge of musical perfection as close as a human can reach perfection. I remain amazed and stupefied by his virtuosity. Thank man ...
Edge's voice and skills are really underrated !!😳
What an amazing song! I love it!!! And Edge's voice so sweet!
Simple perfection. Edge is the heart of U2.
So beautiful, it makes me cry.
I thought he did a really nice job but feel shocked by how similar his voice seemed to Bono's....blending the energy. Maybe that was more him on many songs than I had even realized?! Music is so mysterious to those of us who are uninitiated.
La voz de the edge no solo es espectacular como voz principal, sino tambien posee una segunda natural en los coros
One of my favorite songs, and absolutely love this!!!
Wow! Always loved this song, this has brought me too tears
Goosebumps love this song
I love his voice🔥
Absolutely breathtaking.
Such a talented Man. Thank you for sharing.
So beautiful voice, so well played.. there're no words to express the quality of your work, dude; thanks, honestly thanks for everything.
The great the edge ... what a wonderful voice, what mastery in the guitar ... what a beautiful song ..... greetings from Peru !
The Edge has the voice of a damn angel
Amazing song. Got teared eye.
Very, very nice! Beautiful acoustic song.
Happy Birthday, Edge!
The edge could have been the lead singer on a lot of bands.
I love this song and this voice.
So grateful for my ears to hear such an amazing sound.
Amazing....simplesmente fantástico.
Great The Edge🎸🎤
Timeless and brilliant
Guitar work is absolutely beautiful, as is the guitar. Thank you so much for the music.

La voz y el tono son casi idénticos a bono es fantástico , sin duda los mejores , personalmente para mi siempre lo han sido
War, Unforgettable Fire, Joshua Tree, Rattle and Hum and Achtung Baby....All back to back to back to back to back. Amazing 9 years. Fuck.
Bitter sweet, & breathtakingly beautiful. 😭😍
Absolutely beautiful. Thank you
this shows how integral Edge's voice is in the overall sound of U2..Bono is amazing...dont' get me wrong, but the two as a unit are a whole that cannot be seperated
Edge is the sound of U2.... He is the sound...period
unbelievable!
adorei
beautiful voice Edge!! great stage, guitar, professional, vibe. can´t stop watching this again, again again..really wonderfull
beautiful, peaceful,melodic, love acoustic
His voice is very similar to Bono's! What a great performance!
Beautiful song!
This is great! What a beautifull voice he has😳 surprising 😊❣️
Gorgeous. I love this song even more now.
The best guitarist😍
THE MAN WHO GAVE US OUR FIRST JOB AND TRIES TO KEEP US IN IT EVERYDAY ON DRUMS LARRY MULLEN JR
More of this! The Edge is a great singer :)
