When i heard u2 were playing the whole of Actung Baby live...one of my biggest wishes was for them no to re-invent this song in the live setting. Im so glad they mostly stayed true to the Zoo TV versions.
Agreed. I would extend that to the entire album. I was was really hoping they weren’t going to play So Cruel(1 of my 5 favorite songs of theirs) in a stripped down version because of how complex that song is to play live(which is why they had never played it live before this residency). I’ve always wanted a live version of that. Now we have it.
Of the hundreds of concerts I have seen over my 45+ years of shows, the audio-visual of this song is unrivaled. Blessed to have been. Nice work on the edit of this. Thanks for posting.
Fantastic work by Edge here. I love the change of Bono not singing over Edge’s final solo like he does in the album/ZooTV version. It allows more attention to be given to the guitar work as opposed to the vocal. As an aside, I wonder if the visual of blue slowly being covered in bugs is meant to symbolize love dying and slowly being consumed as if it was a dead body. It would kinda makes sense considering the subject matter of the song and it’s backstory of Edge’s wife being caught cheating and their subsequent divorce. But I could be totally wrong about that potential symbolism.
I couldn’t agree more. I feel bad even saying anything critical of him bc I’ve been a massive fan ever since I heard Bad on the radio in 1984. But his vocal has gotten so bad these past few years. What bugs me the most is it seems like its a matter of indifference and laziness on his part. Because he can still hit the notes. And I totally get it they’re getting up there in years. But he’s only 63 here. His contemporaries like Robert Smith (The Cure) and Simon Le Bon (Duran Duran) sound like they did 35 years ago. Paul McCartney sounded great until he was 78. Its so bizarre.

This and So Cruel are the best live songs from the Sphere shows
in 3, 5 10 years from now, this will be known as the U2 Sphere era's "Signature Song"
Correct!! I was there for it! Dec 9th. Best song in the entire set!

Yes,Yes,Yes.
3:02-3:12 True Bono Vox!! 64 years old and hitting those tenor notes with vibrato! Bob Hewson’s gotta be smiling from above
Naprawdę piekne wykonanie
Great work! I was lucky to see this Sept 29 & 30. It was incredible! I’m heading back next month! Can’t wait to get back!
This performance is from 9/30 so.. you were there! :)
Chills, this was the best moment at the show for me from the AB album
Beautiful

After 30 years from Zoo TV Live From Sydney, this is the best performance of this song!!!
einfach großartig!!!!
Superb!
YES YES YES!!
Magnificent
Bono sounds a bit off in this song. Edge solo at the end is class.
The bugs were really creepy when they came on screen. Played into the song well.
Sydney ❤ I was 10
I love this song, love the edge here, but bono seems in a rush, and that can hold breath for so much, almost out of tune also.

Not Bono’s best performance… Edge is brilliant though.
This song is about Edge’s wife betraying him.
