    Amazing mate, this could tie into your other puzzle, the hag and the doll?? If they go back to the hag with the doll, she isn't there and the doll could maybe turn into the pc (later turn into one of the dolls needed) with a note in its hand saying please help, quiet hill?? Loads of ideas

    Wow you just helped me with a brick wall I've hit with an adventure I'm writing. This idea, with a few tweaks, fits nicely into what I have written already! Thank you Wally D.M., you just earned my subscription.

    There is something magical about watching a puzzle video about a puzzle you were part of lol Its like some behind the scenes thing :P
    Anyway, congrats on a solid investigation puzzle that can fit a single one shot Wally :) I like the way you presented it as well as leaving it easy to adapt and work with!
    Still have flashbacks to that well scene....Shivers...
    Also, Pie Lady did nothing wrong! She provided pie! :(
    Thanks for the puzzle video Wally! It was a honor to try it out :P

    Clever use of the Clue board game with some additions that left me feeling very dumb. This felt beyond my skill level.

      Hi Fred, thank you for watching my video! Honestly, I had a hard time putting my thoughts into a tutorial video, so don't feel bad if you didn't get it. That is more my fault on presentation. It was much easier to run in my one-shot adventure than it was to explain it.
      Hope you are doing well my friend!

    I can definitely use this, but I am not going to have a festival because I am going to have a different festival that my players are going to end up at. I will just have the people of this village be extra, (and hopefully) suspiciously friendly.

      Haha, "suspiciously friendly" is my favorite. Glad you can use it and good to see that you are still out there. Hope you are doing well buddy. :)

    Really enjoyed this! Great inspiration for something I'm working on. All the parts are still coming together in my head (I'm not sure it's going to come together, and this puzzle has given me some ideas to take it in a slightly different direction). Just to put my concept out there, I'm thinking of a sort of "Groundhog Day" type of scenario (but a matter of hours not a full day) where the PCs have to witness different parts of the town in order to put all of the pieces of the puzzle together. I'd *really* like to have a very specific timeline to each individual in the town. My concern is that, while figuring out the puzzle may be fun, actually RPing the encounters may get monotonous (not that they would have to re-RP every encounter (e.g. the PCs can choose to have the same thing happen the last time they had this encounter), but that in the effort of trying to figure it out, they may get bored). Also, my apologies, but I'm going to be "that" guy: 'Wight' rhymes with 'light' (or maybe I misunderstood the type of Peabody creature in the cellar).

    • @WallyDM
      @WallyDM  5 лет назад +1

      Haha, no worries! I've already caught some slack from my friends on my mispronunciation of 'Wight'. No worries, it made me chuckle a bit. But, I really dig your idea and I'm glad this video might help you put a few more pieces into place! Be sure to stop back by and let me know how your groundhog day scenario goes! And... be sure to stick around.... lots of great puzzle ideas here for ya. :) Thank you for the great comment!

    When I participated in the playtest (which was really fun!), I got the wrong idea about one part of the story: I thought that the six portraits represented the six who were keeping the village "imprisoned," and that other adventurers had killed the other five before becoming ensnared by the place. It's an idea!

      Thank you again for playing in the one-shot! These adventures always help me get a better vision on what I want a puzzle to be. Hope you will be on board for the next one! :)

    Great video.
    Honestly I would had made Father Verde. I was actually expecting to be him. But I was wrong lol. Still good.
    If I would run it, the inn keeper is actually Father Verde the clues are 1 the wine. Yes it is poison but the face it has a sun on it and in the wine cellar means that this is the inns wine for guest. Clue 2 the ledger, if they look they might see who in what rooms, some keep records on what room service was done for then...say whom order a midnight drink. But it can also show that one of these people were never a guest.

    • @WallyDM
      @WallyDM  5 лет назад +1

      Ooooh I love this! What a great twist. Tieing everything to Father Verde via his brand of wine and the Room Service in the ledger... Yes! That's what I like about this set up... its easily manipulated so that ANYONE can be the culprit.

      @@WallyDM I fully agree an if they miss a hint or a clue, like I would be that guy whom would look at all the names on the tombstones see if there might be something important or if the victims names where on any of them.

    After the Inn shifts, two doors appear. The one is leading to the study. Where does the second door lead to? I can make out that you you created two more rooms but I haven't noticed any use of them. Could you clarify please?

    • @WallyDM
      @WallyDM  4 года назад

      Oh sure, absolutely! When I first created the puzzle I wanted to have a "sitting room" as the first room on the left. This is where higher class patrons, nobles and politicians could have a drink and talk. Filling the area with several chairs, end tables and sofas... perhaps even a piano.
      After the inn "shifted", the characters would be able to access this room. It is here they would have encountered the spirit of Reverend Verde. Sitting in a chair with a broken glass of wine spilled onto the floor. After recording, I felt that I was okay not including it in the video, but I did include this scene in the one-shot that I ran... and it was fun!
      This "Lounge" would have a door back (or secret door) to another room behind it... For the one-shot I was going to run, this would have included another puzzle... but, they never made it to this room. Looking back, I would probably have it be a private quarters for the innkeeper or a room that stores unique antiques or artifacts. Or perhaps, a laboratory for some weird stuff going on... or a casino... or a prison/holding cell. Hmmm... so many things, I really didn't have a plan for it at the time. It could be whatever you want it to be. :)
      This was a fantastic question! Thank you, I hope this helps!

      @@WallyDM Thanks for your reply! All these are wonderful ideas. Truth be told, I have already run your idea last Saturday - slightly altered for the sake of story coherence - as a "random" encounter during a stormy night. It went great!! They had to find shelter and they rushed to that wonderful cozy inn, in the middle of nowhere. A hospitable, old, female, gnomish lady was the innkeeper. It was proved that she was actually a hag luring adventurers to her lair (both she and the inn had magically altered appearance). The gnomish lady took them upstairs to show them their room (they noticed room 6 missing), the dolls where part of the inn's decoration which I made sure they noticed before the shift and the key to room 6 was handed to them by the waitress. They all focused to find the missing room and enjoyed casual RP with the patrons. They didn't know what hit them when the shift occured. It was a great session and thanks a lot for that!! I definately agree that the Lounge would add tons of roleplaying options (and suspects as to whom might be behind this weird scenario they are trapped in). I should have known it had to be something about father Verde as his body was the one not found, except for the Captain's of course which is presumably consumed by the flames in room 6. Once again, thanks a lot for the idea and please excuse any bad english :)
