The best loot in this video must be a miniature clockwork kraken with an antimagic field attached! Could play a role as some kind of familiar later on I would probably make the puzzle a bit harder, hiding the name of the ship in a seafarings journal somewhere in the room and putting the whole alphabet on the helmet
Great ideas here! While I am writing the puzzle so that the kraken is destroyed after doing its part of the puzzle, having it survive to wreak havoc another day would be interesting. Would love to see what players do with it. Also, yep, I think this is the easiest the puzzle can be. In my written version, I suggest the name of the boat NOT be on the ship, but later found in a journal or underneath a painting of the ship somewhere else. I like including the entire alphabet. "AS IS", its easy to figure out the name of the boat. I also would recommend that the name of the boat can also be rearranged to spell something else. Such as PARROT and RAPTOR. Cheers!
As a bit of flair I would say something like, “Right after you re-cork the bottle, the kraken springs to life. It immediately attacks the ship, each tentacle wrapping around the ship splintering it to small kindling.”
Players doing players things for sure. I'll add "unbreakable ship in a bottle" to the simple weapon list in the player's handbook. lol. Thanks, my friend!
fun puzzle. Could see a lot of fun things to do. Get the code wrong on the helmet, the room starts to fill with sea water. Or, get the code wrong, the helmet suddenly teleports onto the person's head, sealed around their shoulders and starts to fill with sea water. Gotta get the code correct or they will be swallowing sea water soon.
I would maybe make the water in the magic bottle vanish as it was poured out but simultaneously replenishing itself inside the bottle, until the magic of the bottle was nullified and then it would just become a bottleful of regular water. I would also consider only having one "N" on the helmet to press, for a total of only 5 runes, meaning players would have to press the "N" twice to unlock the helmet.
Yep, could definitely see the bottle's magic working that way, for sure. And, great idea on the "N" as the puzzle currently is, its a bit easy, so tightening up the letter pool with only one N might help. Solid thoughts here, thanks. Cheers!
For a full-on Scooby moment, if the player's get the helmet runes wrong, have the diving suit glow green and come to life. Or have it come to life anyway, it can open its own helmet and hand them the mini-kraken.
Great idea! Thanks for sharing. I’ll be using it tomorrow in my Kraken Week themed adventure! I’m going to make the rings potions of water breathing giving my players the ability to procede to a lower level that is under water (final boss encounter).
That is a fantastic use of the puzzle, for sure! Be sure to let me know how it goes. Good luck in your Kraken themed adventure and thank you for watching. Cheers!
@@WallyDMit went fantastic! I like to draw the puzzles out on paper. I drew 4 round golden windows on the ship which turned out to be rings of water breathing. I also put a golden rim border on the lid of the divers helmet for an extra clue. I had an aquarium inside the helmet too! the diver came to life momentarily to open the lid. Then the enchanted baby kraken kept saying “I brake stuff” to the Druid when they needed a hint. I asked the players for feedback and they said they loved the puzzle! Ty for sharing it.
@@RPG_Bliss Hooray! That's awesome, thank you for sharing the story. I especially love the idea that the windows were the rings. Well done on running the encounter! On to the next!
I *LOVE* the minis for this! This looks like a really great puzzle, I think it also seems beginner friendly - I actually get really nervous about trying to run puzzles!
Well, thank you. Yep, a fairly beginner friendly puzzle, for sure. I prefer my puzzles to be memorable, fun encounters that provide a "neat-o" moment in the game rather than a frustrating brain-buster. If you're up for it, I'd say give this one a try. 😀Cheers!
I'm gonna use this puzzle, however, the runes on the helmet are going to be a randomly picked language, maybe the players know/understand that language, maybe they dont. And as some others have mentioned, putting a picture of the boat somewhere else, with the name, and the little ship having no name on it, would be ideal. I think I'm going to make the little kraken attach to the ring after destroying the boat, and just becomes some sort of anti-magic key ring. This is just an overall amazing puzzle and I'm using it almost immediately lol
Hooray! Glad you liked the puzzle! Also, the idea of the tiny kraken attaching itself to a ring is splendid. I may use that idea myself, sounds like an amazing way to introduce a minor artifact into the world. Thank you for watching, cheers!
I would probably have the ring have some connection to the Kraken or a kraken or sea life in general. Maybe give someone the ability to speak with sea creatures or control them? Would take alittle thinking on the GMs part so as to not accidentally give the PCs an item that is to powerful.
I like this plan! Put it at the start of an adventure or near a body of water they need to venture into. Control a water monster to grab something for you or be able to swim down and get it yourself. I dig it. Cheers!
"Zine" is just the last part of the word magazine without the "maga" part and is pronounced the same way that it would be if it were still part of the word "magazine". It is just shortened. It is a statement on the nature of zines as they are shortened versions of a full magazine.
Haha, ya know, I think I've heard that before, and still mispronounced it... I am awful at pronunciations... I really, really am. I used to think Chaotic was pronounced Chay-o-tick, lol
Puzzle is very simple and easy to understand and it's basic great for first time dm and players! Also isn't that the characters from the dnd cartoon? You should put up links where you get all those toys you put up on those videos
Thank you Isa, I'm glad you liked it. And yep, those are the characters from the cartoon. :-) Great eye! And, ya know, I never thought about adding links to the items I use. I might work on that soon. Cheers!

I love it! Absolutely, great visuals and flair. Cheers!
I already know that one of my players would attempt to use the bottle as a melee weapon "because it's unbreakable".

Scooby Doo was the first thing that came to mind for the diver helmet too... lol. Love your ideas here. Well done!
I would have the diver helmet to attack the player use animated armor stats , it will dropped the tiny kraken if defeated
@@isazainal778 Cool 😎 I was going ghost 👻

I have used a decanter of endless water to trap a vampire, so unlimited seawater could be fun, especially with Form Water
